Upset Alert!

Auburn, AL --- The Ole Miss Rebels came back from Auburn with a huge win over the #5 Tigers. After going down 24-21 with just over a minute to play, Grant Tisdale led an incredible drive that gave the Rebels the lead with 24 seconds to play. Tisdale had a great game, throwing for 304 yards on 28/41 passing, with 3 total touchdowns. Jerrion Ealy rushed for 91 yards on 16 carries, but the other backs struggled to find yardage against a stout Auburn defense. Jonathan Mingo caught 6 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown to lead the Rebels in receiving. AJ Finley led the team with 12 tackles on the day, and Jacquez Jones pitched in 11 of his own. Jacob Bryant had 8 tackles and an interception in the red zone that ended a good Auburn drive.

For Auburn, Bo Nix struggled in the passing game with just 157 yards on 20/25 passing. Jatarvious Whitlow had a great day rushing with 206 yards on 23 carries. However, the Tigers gave up 4 sacks on the day, which may have contributed to Bo Nix's struggles. After a huge win the Rebels will return home to take on #1 LSU.

**For some reason the few minutes of gameplay after Tisdale's touchdown run didn't save... So you don't get to see Auburn's FG or our last TD... Anyone have any ideas why that happens sometimes? This isn't the first time.

The Ole Miss Rebels have made a few more pick ups on the recruitment trail. The 2022 class is starting to come together, and there are definitely players who could contribute in the future.

Defensive Tackle Anthony Mcrae is an undersized, athletic lineman out of Louisiana. He will certainly need to put on more weight to play on the interior in the SEC, but there is definitely a possibility of him moving to play on the edge.

Curtis Lewis is one of the better inside linebackers in this recruiting class, although a little short for a SEC ILB. He is athletic and moves well. Lewis has lead his team in tackles for the last two seasons and is again this season.

Glenn Burch adds to the offensive line depth that is being accumulated with this recruiting class. He's a little shorter than most SEC offensive linemen, but at 310 pounds he should be able to hold his own. Burch plays well with his hands and is surprisingly athletic for his size.

Jon'Tray Smith is an athletic cornerback with great coverage ability. In fact, plenty of scouts have said he'd be a 4 star if he had a little more size. Coach Rahne and his staff are willing to take the gamble on a 4 star talent with a little less size. Smith plays with an edge that the Ole Miss defense could definitely use more of.

Finally, Shedrick "Shed" Brewer is an offensive tackle who plays at one of the most successful high school programs in Texas at Cedar Hill. Brewer has great size and plays against D1 talent at schools like DeSoto and Duncanville on a weekly basis. He should transition well to SEC football and could even compete for playing time next fall.

Bluegrass Miracle V2

The Ole Miss Rebels lost on the final play of the game on Saturday. LSU quarterback Peter Parrish connected with Ja'Marr Chase on a 41 yard pass as time expired to win it for the Tigers. As time was winding off the clock most people expected LSU to take their final time out and set up a hail mary, or even kick a field goal. Instead, the Tigers hurried to the line of scrimmage and ran a play. The Rebels didn't get their call communicated across the secondary and Chase ended up wide open down the sideline. "It's heartbreaking. We played with the #1 team in the country for the entire game and we blew it on the last play. That one is on us coaches. We screwed up. Not the players. I take full responsibility for what happened and we are going to make sure it never happens again," coach Ricky Rahne said after the game. The heartbreaking loss comes just one week after a huge upset of #5 Auburn. The Rebels made it out of the toughest stretch of their schedule at 1-2, which nobody would have predicted back in August. There are a lot of things to be excited about in Oxford.

Absolute heart break there, brutal how the AI is horrific at defending against any type of Hail Mary or 4 Verts when you throw Cover 3 out there. Good signs that you were able to compete with them for four quarters though, big things are brewing in Oxford!
