MLB 07 felt like an uprezzed version of the PS2 game. It wasn't until MLB 08 that the game looked and felt completely different from the PS2 version. I remember being pretty blown away with MLB 08 since 07 wasn't that impressive to me.

The game has gotten to a point where it plays great and even marginal improvements would make a big difference to me. If they can make the game run at 1080p at a steady 60fps that would be enough for me honestly for MLB 14.

Does 1080P 60fps really make a big difference over 720P?

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)

I am a big TV Style presentation guy so I am hoping to see even more improvements in that area. Just some little things I am hoping for are things like the Pitch Count always shown on the Score bug. And stats like 0-3 2-3 3-3 on the in between inning batter due up overlays either over or under the players names. And also when a batter hits a Home Run I want to see a cool looking overlay pop up when the batter is rounding first base saying something like " 2 Run Home Run - David Ortiz 15th this season" And also Bat Boys like 2K Baseball has had for a while now. And Also Ball Girls/Ball Boys down the left and right field lines sitting on chairs and flipping foul balls to the fans.

Adding these little things a lone would be so cool!

        @tnixen's comment about 1080p versus 720p

To some people maybe not, but to me it would be a huge difference. Then again, I work in the home theater industry, so I notice things like that more so than others.

Ok so it's one of those things where not everyone may have the eyes to see the difference.

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)

It really depends on the size of your TV, how well it displays the image and how far your eyes are from it to an extent. To someone who sits far away from their TV the same game engine rendered at 720p and 1080p might not look very different. But then go to your PC and load up a game and change the resoution from 1080p to 720p and the level of detail you can see is substantial from the distace you sit from your monitor.

As for 60 fps, its something you will immediately notice if you were shown the same game running at 30 fps and then 60 fps or vice versa. I think there was a study recently that showed people notice 30 vs 60 fps more than resolution even.

I'd take a smooth constant framerate over a bump in resolution, but with what MLB 13 is already on PS3, it doesn't seem unreasonable to think they can get 1080p/60fps out of the PS4 or at least close to that.

It's beyond me how any game on the XBox One or PS4 can't run at 1080P and 60FPS, but apparently there will be plenty at least at the beginning of the systems' cycles. MLB 14 The Show would look and play even more amazing at 1080P and 60FPS.

Looking forward to getting my hands on PS4.

                My "Baby Boomer" wishlist:

                1) We have Season and Franchise modes why not "Classic Mode". Just pick a year and the Franchise Hometown uniforms gear and appropriate audio to fit the era Team and location.(Plus if we can build Baseballs Historic Stadiums from the past....With sound-a-like names etc...)

                2) Nicknames are a big part of the game. I love hearing Roy Campanella but would love to occasionally hear "Campy" or Stan "The Man" Musial etc...

                3) We would supply the faces SCEA would supply a Classic Season that would be uncomplicated...no mandatory trades etc...Once a roster builder makes a team he wants it to stay intact. This mode would keep tract of all stats from season to season...game to game...with created faces included...

                4) Would like to see an option to choke-up and would like to have many more equipment options like gloves from different eras.

                scooter...BigKlu...

Wow is that really what the game does when a player is moved? (360; 2K vet here).

Likely going PS4 route over Xbox One because of THIS game.

It is NOT a GENERIC picture.
It is a GENERATED picture of the player photo.
Unless every player was in the same exact position to take the photo for the game....the hat's and uni's would never line up in an in game photos....so the dev team (AT THE REQUEST OF A LOT OF USERS) arranged it so that when a player is moved off his original team(whatever the team photo was).....he would then get a picture generated off this photo(which is aligned for the new team hat/uni) and you would get that in game.

There is also a little trick ...that if you go into a fantasy draft to start your franchise....then back out.....you will get ALL generated photos to start your franchise(this is what I do)

For what the other guy wants...they would have to include some sort of photoshop feature in the game to allow you to put the hats/unis on player photos.

I say it's time to use all digital faces this time around and show-off the PS4's magic. Many games have been doing it on PS3, none will be nearly as impressive as MLB The Show on the PS4.

The all generated-photos trick is one of the coolest things on MLB 13, IMHO.

It is if you are gaming on a huge tv.

Online franchise mode. I think this is the only major sports game franchise that doesn't offer us an online franchise mode. Playing one season online league becomes boring after a while.

Also, I think its time to change the play by play commentary team. It's been the same guys now for years and its starting to get stale.

Ground up rebuild of the player models would be nice. Bodies still look like crap to me. More realistic color tones too. I realize baseball has some colors that pop, but the game overall still has a cartoony gloss to it.

More customization with batting stances and deliveries. We are able to use the analog stick to bend, mold and shape a nose, why can't we start off with a stock stance and use the stick to move hand placement, bat angle, bat wiggle, wideness of stance, position in box, etc. same with deliveries w release points, leg kicks, stride, etc.

Someone said something earlier about pin pointing breaking balls, and while I know it's not realistic to put pitches where u want all the time, some do it better than others and command their breaking balls better than others. I pumped up my RTTS players breaking ball control and I still didn't know where it was going half of the time. The CPU hitting against the breaking ball logic needs to be reworked IMO. The majority of the pitches I get hitters to chase is the high fastball. Whenever I break out a breaking pitch there's a small window for a chase. Hitters become tony Gwynn and foul nasty pitches off or lay off altogether. A lot of the time you can paint the outside edge with heat and then follow up w a nasty slider that looks like those outside fastballs and the hitter doesn't budge. I'd go on to say that 80 plus pct of my strikeouts, no matter the pitcher, is off fastballs.

And to me, RTTS is a huge selling point for this game. An improvement to the immersion of this would be great. Some cutscenes for milestones that make call ups even bigger, for example. U don't even need that many, but for example, getting called to the bigs, say you get called up for the Braves. you walk into the clubhouse with your bags and Upton and McCann are sitting there, and the camera pans over to your locker and your jersey is there hanging up w your name on it. It sounds silly, but a few cutscenes like that go a long way and are better than dimming to the end of the advancement period and "congrats, you've been called up to the braves"

And I love the hot and cold streaks, tho sometimes they seem canned and forced. But, maybe add some elements that can help us get our way out of them. An extra practice mode that supplements pre game batting practice, so for example, there's a mode where u get extra cuts in the batting tunnel, or tee work or soft toss. Or use attribute points to spend on some game tape reviewing where you see what's going wrong. Make it labor intensive though, so u actually have to put in that 20 min before the ame to get these cuts in or work on something for a small one or two game reward that maybe bumps up an attribute or something to help work your way out of a slump instead of the CPU dictating when a few balls are gonna drop and u can get back to normal again
