Not a player trade question here but a managerial one. I know you can't actually trade for managers in the game (at least not that I know of) but what about if one gets fired. Does he go into the pool of available managers?

I play as the Cubs and since Rick Renteria isn't actually in the game, and I'm not a big fan of his anyway, I'd really like to get Ryne Sandberg as my manager. I have 30-team control so I could fire him from the Phillies if need be and then pick him up as the Cubs. Is this doable?

On a secondary note, I wonder if there's any way he'd wear his number 23 once he became manager. That would be so awesome but I bet the game won't give it to him since it's retired.

Good call. Not to mention that Hamels is a flyball pitcher so Coors Field would be bad news. One of those SoCal teams with Giant parks and humid ocean air like Totte mentioned would be ideal. The Padres, Giants, and Dodgers all make sense although San Fran would have a hard time meeting the asking price (plus they may see Hamels as Zito all over again).

All 3 of those guys are gettable realistically and you are willing to part with plenty.

Niese to the Dodgers for Ethier.

Young + Sierra to the Rangers for Arencibia.

Lagares or Wilmer Flores to TOR for Cecil + one of Drabek/Pillar/Rasmussen/Rogers.

Not unless you pay ALL of his salary, which is not an option in the game. No chance they take A Rod and pay a dime in the process.

Yes, this should work just fine if you make RAJ fire Ryno and then scoop him up. It's still weird that some teams have fake coaching staffs (Cubs, Tigers, Mariners) but most have real coaches.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I just hit July 1st of my 30 team control chise and am looking at trade ideas. I wrote down my buyers and sellers...then placed guys in the trade block I felt I could trade and get value back from playoff push teams.

I have 12 "buyers", and from those 12 I used random number generator app to select five who would be first to get a trade to improve.

I am looking to trade Derek Jeter to the Pirates right now. I know it would never happen but in my season it can. Yankees are 38-45, 10.5gb in the East and 9gb in the wild card. Jeter was hurt the beginning of the year but has played well since coming back. The Pirates are 45-38, leading the Central by only one game over the Brewers, and 2.5 over the Reds. They are batting .252 and need help desperately on offense and Jeter would be perfect to help at SS and Mercer can play 2b against lefties.

What would be a fair deal? Do I have to matched contracts in the mlb?

I think these two are overpays. Arencibia is waiver wire fodder, he's not even a starter in AAA right now. Niese is a valuable starter with an incredible contract, and Ethier is a platoon starter with a big contract.

For Ethier, I think Mejia is fine, and for Arencibia.. anyone, really.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Interesting CPU trade just went down in my franchise. Important to note that it is only April 11, 2015.

                      Nats Trade:
                      Tyler Clippard - 30 years old, B POT 5.0 IP 2-0 0.00 ERA 6 K's .60 WHIP
Lucas Giolito - 20 year old SP HIGH A POT, 72 OVR, no stats in AAA thus far

                      Boston Trades:
                      Jon Lester - On 2 year $28 million deal, 31 year old 88 ovr, 2-0 15 IP 3.00 ERA 16 K's 1.40 WHIP
                      Andrew Miller - 0-0 4.0 IP 6.75 ERA 5 K's 1.75 WHIP, 29 year old 72 ovr RP

Some things that might affect why this was made:

Boston signed Cueto in the offseason to a 3 year deal and Henry Owens is in the MLB rotation

Nats now have rotation of Strasburg, Zimmerman, Lester, Gio, and Fister.... Scary

What do you guys think? This was a CPU trade that I was just alerted with. Is it too early in the season for this? We haven't even played 10 games. Is it a fair and realistic deal based on the circumstances? Is there equal value on both sides? Also, should I undo this deal and then maybe have it done later in the year? Thanks guys!

Hey guys, I'm in the July of my 2014 season and have been making a few trades to fill needs that I see one teams in my 30 team control 'chise. I did what was fair in my mind but if I messed any up really bad let me know:

-Cubs trade Samardzjia to the Blue Jays for Roberto Osuna, D.J. Davis, and Tyler Ybarra.

-Rangers trade Derek Holland to the Phillies for John Mayberry JR. and Hector Neris.

-Indians trade Asdrubal Cabrera (to make way for Lindor) to the Reds for Mike Leake and Rey Navarro.

Now I'm trying to trade Miguel Gonzalez of the Orioles (the team I'm playing as) probably for some bullpen help but I'm open to anything. Any ideas?

Try it out? I don't really know, but I would speculate that the game would not let him wear a retired # even if it's his own.

Within the context of who the OP would've liked to trade, I think Niese/Ethier and possibly just Young (who's hitting .217) for JPA would be good. Niese has a 4+ ERA in his chise also and the contracts are not as pronounced in game.

The Cubs would've preferred more advanced prospects than Osuna and Davis who are both very raw. Sanchez, Nolin, or Norris would've worked better as the P and not really sure the Cubs would have any interest in Davis. All in all not a horrible deal though.

The Rangers did not get enough for Holland.

Why are the Reds trading a useful SP for a useful SS? Prospects for vets is the usual route. Why are the Indians getting a vet back for A-Cab?

As for your own trade, it would help if you could provide details such as which teams are in the race and what type of RP you want (prospect? LHP? closer?).
