Then yeah, swap him out lol. I'm not too high on Schoop either.

This is a pretty minor deal. Wouldn't worry too much about it.
BABIP is a silly thing to try and judge someones overall talent on. (Or lack of talent, in Solatre's case)

Agree with this statement. Scouts say he has really stepped up his defense behind the plate at both Boise and Daytona, but his future is probably in the corner of the OF, which again comes back to the Cubs not needing Nimmo.

The Marlins on the other hand have Salty at the MLB level plus Rob Brantly plus JT Reaomuto (#8 prospect), so I think they are better off at catcher the the Cubs.

He wasn't. He was saying he was due for regression.

Thanks for making my point for me. You said Solarte fell back to earth, but it's the .192 BABIP driving that, which is, as you just stated here, a silly thing to try and judge someones overall talent on. It's not that he sucks and is striking out like Mike Olt, he's just really unlucky with balls in play lately.

Overall sample is a league average bat. RoS projections have an 86 wRC+. Somewhere in between there is likely. Mid 90's, maybe. Dunno how much weight recency has in ZiPS and Steamer but I feel like it should be more.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

Ive got a trade in line with the Cardinals, but I wanna know what I could realistically get in return. I'm offering Barney and Veras. I know that IRL these guys would not get ANYTHING in return, but in my franchise Barney's been solid; playing gold glove defense and hitting .280 with a ~.340 OBP. Veras has been good, 3.30ish ERA w/ 11 saves in 13 opportunities.

The Cards are desperate for a 2nd baseman as Ellis is sucking it up and Wong hasn't been hitting well in AAA.

Do you guys think I could get one of their young arms in return?

A Darwin Barney that hits .280/.340 is very valuable.

Watching Cubs-Pads and Yangervis Solarte is 2 for 2 with an RBI triple and he just hit a bloop single to shallow right-center. Maybe he has appeased the BABIP gods?

Useless piece of non trade-related info: Yangervis is a portmanteau of his mother and father's names.

Yeah, too bad he doesn't actually exist. You think Marco Gonzalez or Kamisky or Kelly would be realistic, or should I shoot lower...

                          Depends how they're playing.

One game is usually enough to determine that. So I'd say yeah!

I dealt Rodney and SS Taylor (B) to the Tigers for RP Bruce Rondon (B), and SS Javier Betancourt (B). I'm not sure about trading for a SS named Betancourt though?

Rodney had 15 saves and a 1.10 ERA for me, but he was regressing, and I wanted to get anything I could for him, before he totally died. Plus, it clears up $8MM in budget space, which I could use come trade deadline time. You guys think the trade is fair? A flame throwing RP prospect, and a SS prospect still 3-4 years away. And Tayl;or was only hitting .195 in AAA so I tossed him in the deal as well.
