Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Mainly because people don't listen, don't read up or search to see if their question has been answered before and answering the same question over and over again (no, Yankees fans there is nothing on your team that can get Baez) gets old. That's pretty much why.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Can we skip the 40th debate spanning 17 pages on what level of snarkiness is appropriate? If there's a problem, a mod will come sort it out, as is their job that they are highly effective at. Beyond that, there's no point in trying to stir up reactions by calling people snarky. It's not part of the solution."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
OK, fair enough. This deal is not fair and it's even worse if you are trying to keep your moves realistic. You could not get Baez alone for Ellsbury, let alone another couple of prospects on the side.
How did the Cubs get Matt Olson, by the way? Or is Baez somehow on Oakland?Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Right, and that's why he wants Billy McKinney with Baez and Olson. He wanted to tweak the cpu's proposal. My thoughts are that Baez is too much for Ellsbury by himself. Without factoring in another good pair of specs.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Oh. And no, yeah, never.
If he wants an SS, call me crazy, but what about a Gardner/Andrus swap? Similar positions, both positions are of need, saves Tex some money, etc."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Because Andrus >> Gardner. I think Texas can do better for Andrus, tho Gardner is underrated.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

The only thing I like about the Bills is Sammy Watkins. Off-Topic, so I will now stop.
WTNY, I posted the details on Lee and the rest of the league a few pages ago, if you want to take a look.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I dunno about that. 17.6 wins in his last 4 full seasons. Andrus has that in his entire career (6 seasons). He's the owed a crap ton more than Gardner. Gardner's also got the higher upside with a 6 win season. Granted, Andrus is younger, which makes them pretty similar in overall value imo. I dunno, I think I could see it."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Must've missed it the first time or glanced over it
Cliff Lee: 163.2 IP, 2.09 ERA, 132 Ks, 35 BB, 0.95 WHIP, 3.061 DIPS, 7.26 K/9
He's killing everyone right now.
Teams in position for playoff spot (No NL East):
AL:
Blue Jays 71-47 (1st AL East)
Rays 67-50 (2nd AL East, 1st WC)
Red Sox 66-50 (3rd AL East, 2nd WC)
Tigers 64-52 (1st AL Central)
White Sox 63-57 (2nd AL Central, 4th WC)
Mariners 66-51 (1st AL West)
A's 65-52 (2nd AL West, 3rd WC)
Rangers 61-56 (3rd AL West, 5th WC)
On the Brink: Yankees 58-59 (6th WC)
NL:
Pirates 65-52 (1st AL Central)
Cardinals 61-55 (2nd NL Central, 3rd WC)
Reds 59-59 (3rd NL Central, 5th WC)
Dodgers 80-39 (Jesus, 1st NL West)
D-Backs 65-53 (2nd NL West, 2nd WC)
Of those teams, only 7 need pitching:
Blue Jays
Red Sox
White Sox
Mariners
Rangers
Pirates
D-Backs.
I'm looking at Hamels, so take the Red Sox out of the equation. The Phillies are 55-63, 18.5 out of the NL East, and 10 out of the WC.
*Note: All transactions in the franchise are as of 8/6/14
Given that Lee is healthy and dealing (despite an low-ish K/9), does Nolin + Sanchez + Lugo make sense?? Lee is not just a rental and the Phillies get some young pitching and a MI INF to replace decaying parts.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

That is a damn shame. I am sure almost everyone would agree with me. Can you switch to 30-team once you start a franchise?Comment

I think the Blue Jays are clearly the frontrunner here. They are so good that they'd probably give anything to get Lee and shore up their rotation...and the Phillies would love to extract talent as revenge for a certain World Series loss.
