Realistically, McCutchen is the face of the franchise, the Jeter of the Pirates. Plus, he has a ton of surplus value with his contract. It would take Machado and Bundy to even start a conversation with them, and you still are only half way there.
You messed the 2 pitchers up. It would be Machado and Gausman plus! I would have to think that Crush Davis would have to be in the deal as well.

The Mets are selling. They have Harvey, De Grom, Wheeler and Syndergaard.

I was thinking of going after Harvey.

Harvey for Rhymer Liriano, Hedges and Renfroe.

Darvish for Rhymer Liriano, Hedges, Renfroe and Luebke

Garret Richards for Hedges, Kelly and Luebke

Sale for Wisler, Liriano, Hedges, Wil Myers and Cashner

The Richards or Sale deals are the best imo. I could see the Sale deal actually happening, gotta think that's roughly what the White Sox would ask for. Very hard to turn down. Then again, I'm higher on Wisler than most.

Wow too rich for my blood. If consider machado and gausman with perhaps another b prospect, but I couldn't do crush as well. That could very well be 3 all stars for 1

I'll wait on cutch and see if the pirates struggle and this would consider blowing it up for depth. Likely though I'll have to look into a less valuable (but still a star) outfielder to play next to jones. Perhaps Carlos Gonzales? I know irl he had a rough year, but in game he's a stud.

What does Colorado realistically ask for him at the start of 2014?

Debatable, I suppose. Bundy seems to have a higher ceiling (and maybe even a higher floor despite the surgery).

So, I know it was almost a year ago, but I had to laugh when I looked through the spreadsheet.

There were no fewer than EIGHT (8!) "unrealistic" trades between the start of the 2014 season and today.

-Jason Heyward, OF, ATL -- Franchise cornerstone (traded this off-season to STL for RHP Shelby Miller)

-Austin Jackson, OF, DET -- Signed extension (traded during 2014 season to SEA in 3-team deal for LHP David Price)

-Andrew Heaney, RHP, MIA -- Team thinks highly of him (traded [TWICE] this off-season for SS Dee Gordon, RHP Dan Haren [maybe])

-Addison Russell, SS OAK -- Team thinks highly of him (traded at 2014 deadline to CHC for RHPs Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel)

-Corey Hart, OF, SEA -- Just signed with team (DFA'd in September)

-Allen Craig, 1B/OF, STL -- Franchise cornerstone (traded during 2014 season to BOS for RHP John Lackey and prospect Corey Littrell)

-Ryan Hanigan, C, TB -- Signed extension (traded [TWICE] this off-season to SD/BOS for who knows at this point)

-Wil Myers, OF TB -- Franchise cornerstone (traded this off-season in 3-team deal to SD for Jake Bauers, Burch Smith, René Rivera, Steven Souza and Travis Ott)

-Brett Lawrie, 3B/2B, TOR -- Team thinks highly of him (traded this off-season to OAK for 3B Josh Donaldson)

Guess no one told these General Managers it's not realistic to trade these guys...

My rule is as long as it is fair and isn't a complete unrealistic trade (trading Jeter or Trout) I'm ok with it. These things happen, and no one on this site can say whether something is unrealistic or realistic because that depends on what the GM wants to do. People cannot predict how one GM feels about the players involved. Upton was also "unrealistic."

OK, I thought he was still in his mid 20's like Trout. But where he is 28 that is too much. Maybe just Gausman and Crush/Machado then.

ptbnl, don't be so critical. That was made much earlier in the year. This list is full of players that currently only have a year of control now which seriously changes things. A new GM in SD and TB changes things. Plus, it is only to help not make it so easy to build a powerhouse.

I was thinking more so that the sheet is a guideline and not a rulebook and that exceptions are obviously to be made and there'll be a few unrealistic guys traded every year but the majority won't be

The point is, no one is untradeable/unrealistic to trade.

Especially to guys like Billy Beane and all the young hot shot GMs.

So you're seriously telling me that the line of thinking that certain players are less acquirable than others is invalid because of 8 anecdotal pieces of evidence?

Unrealistic means unlikely. Not unacquirable. This is a misuse of the sheet.

Unrealistic does not mean unlikely. Unlikely means unlikely.

Unrealistic means would not happen in reality.

And my point was that people say they're worried about "realistic" trades when they have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. You're telling me that if someone said they were going to trade Prince Fielder from DET to TEX for Ian Kinsler before last year you'd say that was realistic or a "likely" deal?

B.S. Everyone here would've shouted that down and said that'd never happen after Fielder signed that huge deal in DET and that it wouldn't make sense.
