Thanks. So what will happen if I decline their 1 year contract? Compared to what happens if I accept it? I'm trying to understand what difference declining or accepting makes. From what you describe it sounds like I'll be on the team either way, so then in what way does accepting vs declining the offer change things?

Also what is the point behind the money offered in the contract? Is it just for bragging rights with friends (in which case I don't care about it at all) or does it affect your desirability with other teams or skills etc?

    Thanks!

If you decline unless you a FA you get the minimum 500K.
Money offered on contracts really means little at this point except for our egos, lol ,sad to say hopefully this will change as we get further into the PS4 cycle.

Do you guys play spring training? I assume by doing so we earn some training points to help boost up the attributes going into the new season. Other than that, any other reason to play vs sim it?

Speaking of which, do you get training points when simming?

Yes you get training points when you sim at anytime maybe not as much if you played the game yourself but sometimes maybe more depending on how the computer feels ( lol ) and No personally I don't do any ST games I never have but that's just me it seem like a waste of time unless you really want some practice.JMHO

I'm now in the "post season" part and the team is offering me a $500K contract for one year. What happens if I do not take the contract? Do I get traded? I'm trying to figure out the significance of this decision and why and how it matters. Can someone please let me know?

It looks like I can change the offer amount. Is there any point in that?

Playing on a team that is not winning games (despite my guy playing well) is taking a good deal of the fun out of it. So in some ways I'd like to get traded. But I do enjoy playing in their park, so if I went to another team that also wasn't winning it could be another step backward.

            Thanks!

The reason I don't play ST, unless I haven't made the team yet, I always feel like I'm wasting my hits so to speak. I'd go 3-5 maybe with a couple doubles and feel bad that they won't count when the season starts..

Ha - yes you are right - interesting. Those numbers are off the top of my head. Now I'm curious - will double check to see what the actual RBIs are. With 30HR it has to be higher, I would think. This is with about 410 AB.

What I've started doing, now that I've established myself as an MLB Starter, is to play all of spring training and SAVE all the points I earn. Then, once the season starts, I determine how many total points it would cost to upgrade each stat by +1, and save that amount of points for when the yellow arrow shows up and my skills are about to decline. Anything on top of that, I spend on day 1 of the regular season.

Once your player's rating is built up a bit, you should always bank some points for when you need to stop yourself from declining. How many to bank depends on how built up you are overall, and how you spread your points around throughout the season.

I play spring training games due to the fact I need all of the points I can get so I play every spring game and it gives me time to get better or worse with my bat, its like practice but your getting points to

I remember one time I simmed spring training and only got like 250points for it but I didn't save it because I wanted to see the difference if I would have played it and when I played through every game of spring training I earned around 600points which is a big difference and worth it imo.

I prolly could of earned more seeing as I had a terrible spring training where I was batting like .235 or something

I'm restarting my RTTS because of some transactions my team made that pissed me off.

brb restarting the showcase over and over to try and get a spraychart I like, lol.

I wish they just let you adjust your own spraychart tendencies. My last guy, I forgot to check the spraychart before I started the career, ended up with a guy who hit like 45% to the opposite field. I like pull hitters lol. I'm looking for somebody who as a left-handed batter is hitting 80% of his balls either to right field or up the middle

Does the spraychart actually affect anything when you're doing all at-bats manually?? Or does it only work when using timing hitting? I've always played with Zone hitting and have NEVER paid any attention to what my spray chart says, and have never noticed my hitter going to one side more than the other unless it's based on my performance at the plate.

Pretty cool story in my RTTS.

I started the season with the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos. I was the #2 hitter and Roger Bernadina was hitting in the 3 slot. Both of us tore up Double A and advanced to Triple A (Louisville Bats) relatively quickly.

Then I was hitting #3, and he was hitting #4 for Louisville. Both of us were dominating again, but we still finished the AAA season. We got called up to Cincinnati at the end of the Bats' season and I'm leading off... he's hitting in the 2 slot.

First game with the Reds. I reach on an error my first at bat... He hits a home run right after I get on base. Then I hit a homer on my next at bat.

                          Crazy stuff.

Swing early? That's a sure way to be a pull hitter.

I don't have PROOF of this, but my guy I just played 1.5 seasons with definitely seemed to hit accurately to his spray chart. Hit a lot of opposite field stuff, even when I would KNOW I wasn't late. He would go opposite field on inside pitches even with swings that were good timing or early. So I really feel that it does affect it. And I don't use "timing" hitting but all the hitting modes require the timing of your swing.

Yeah in theory, but I really think the spray chart affects the way you hit the ball regardless of timing, or in combination with your timing.

Plus when I swing early I seem to foul it off way more often than just pulling it into right field, it's like it will over-compensate for my early swing. I'm not talking about swinging at a changeup like it's a fastball here, but just swinging a fraction of a second early, it will go like 20 yards foul waaay more often than it should.

The guy I'm starting now has a spraychart like this:

                              22% LF
                              33% CF
                              45%RF

drastically different than my last guy, so I should notice if there's a big difference. I'll keep you guys posted

did everyone else struggle their first year in the majors? I had 19HRs in April in AA then got called up to the majors late may. I got off to a hot start but now here July 30 I haven't had a HR since June 22 and am stuck at 6. My average is also down to .280 when I was hitting .343 at the end of June.
