Wow, just went #1 overall. The one year junior college choice paid off for my hard throwing left handed pitcher. Was just messing around, but may actually end up playing this RTTS often.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Man I was lined up for a complete game shutout. 3 hits allowed up to the 8th. 1 out to go, gave up a single. Next batter hit a fly ball for out number 2. Next batter blooped a single to middle right field. The runner went from 1st to third. Pagan however let the ball roll right by him and the runner scored instead of staying on 3rd! :angry:Now Playing: MLB 11: The Show, Battlefield BC2, Pokemon White, Portal 2, Mass Effect 2 (still), COD: Black Ops, FIFA '11

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
My SS was drafted in the 3rd round by the Reds (I chose the Reds). And I chose to just sign right out of high school and take my chances. Batted something like .247 in AA and got called up to AAA after about a month and a half. Got off to a hot start in AAA and was batting around .340 and got called up to the Reds.
My first appearance was as a pinch hitter and I promptly doubled in a run. The next game I came in as a pinch hitter and hit a 3 run home run. So I was batting 1.000 with 4 RBI in my first 2 at bats. I then pinch hit two more times and did not get a hit. Then got optioned back to AAA. I'm still hitting around .330 in AAA and just waiting for those idiots in Cincinnati to realize the "Franchise" is ready to take over, even at only 18 years old.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Bubba "Big Country" Woods
Bubba Drama II
The 2014 Season is over for Bubba "Big Country" Woods and the Padres did what they leaked out and did not bring up Bubba Woods to the 40 man roster. The 18 year old 6'8'' 265 lb. first baseman, and 2013 Georgia St. Player of the year, dominated the minors but will have to wait for his first MLB at bat.
2014
AA: .298 10 HR 48 RBI (31 Games)
AAA: .314 20 HR 73 RBI (56 Games) *2014 All-Star*
We reported the Padres had no interest in bringing up Woods in 2014 or 2015 but no one saw this coming. Despite large trade rumors from Houston and Cleveland, Woods has still not been dealt. He was resigned to a 1 year 98K dollar deal for 2015. Despite being a top 10 prospect according to MLB.com, he was demoted to AA San Antonio to start 2015. We reached out to Bubba for an interview but it was declined by his agent. All we were able to get from their camp was " Mr. Woods was obviously very disappointed in being demoted to AA San Antonio. He was a AAA All-Star after only playing for 5 weeks. He led AAA in HR and RBI since being pulled up and figured, at worst, he would be in El Paso to start the season. Ties between the Padres and Woods are starting to wear thin and we have to question why such an obviously talented player is subjected to this. It will be interesting to see how he reacts in 2015.
**Update**
Bubba "Big Country" Woods is currently batting .355 8 HR 40 RBI is 23 games for AA San Antonio. Still hearing trade rumors but so far no one has pulled this trigger. Woods has not spoken to the media so far about his situation but San Antonio Missions Coach, Bob Hughes, was quoted saying " He is much more withdrawn this season. He is quieter now than when he was with us last season. I am extremely glad to have him but you can tell the strain of an uncertain future is affecting his development."

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Yea i know. Its just frustrating because i cant even put good contact on the ball. My vision is at 80 and my contact and power are at mid 60s against both LHP and RHP. Thats why this struggle baffles me. Homer less streak is at 43 days lol. Update tomorrow night since i have bar league softball tonight.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Just finished year 2, Rookie year in the MLB.
Final stats .334 27HR 58 RBI 25 SB
Unfortunately I didn't have enough at bats or I would have lead the league in average. I was hitting about .280 in July on Dynamic Difficulty Rookie using timing, switched to Zone and tore it up the rest of the season, making it to All-Star + difficulty by the end. I requested a trade from the Nationals because I didn't want to be a utility guy (the reason I didn't qualify for At Bats, and got traded to the Orioles where we lost in the Wild Card gem, 1-0 to the Rays.
I am not happy with the organization, as they offered me an insulting 1 year 500k contract. I kept declining, and then simmed the off season but some how they auto signed me. :|Rams, Jays, Raptors, LeafsComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I waited until the hybrid roster was released to start my RTTS. I made myself a catcher as that was the position I played in high school. I had a great rookie showcase, batting .333 (4 for 12) with two homeruns and six RBI's and drawing two walks (.429 OBP) . Was drafted 4th overall by the Minnesota Twins as a 57 OVR catcher with A potential. Very excited to start my first season in AA for the New Britain Rock Cats.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
...so my pitcher has pitched 7 shutout innings and I am COMPLETELY gassed. No energy bar left (since the 6th inning) and I have thrown 118 pitches. I also have a 3 run lead.
So WHY on God's green earth does the manager sends me out for the 8th inning? Second pitch ...INJURY. #$&%!!! Broken nail gonna miss 2 starts. @$#!%!!! And to add insult to injury the bullpen blew the lead and the game. I had to turn off my PS4 after that.

Gahhh I am so annoyed, again the best pitcher for our team (SF Giants), leading league in ERA, Wins, SHO, CP, WHIP, and front leader for CY Young again, yet because they refused to put me higher on the pitching rotation I won't be pitching in the playoffs... >.<Now Playing: MLB 11: The Show, Battlefield BC2, Pokemon White, Portal 2, Mass Effect 2 (still), COD: Black Ops, FIFA '11

With only 6 games left in the 2015 season and the cubs with a 72-84 record and well out of the playoffs 2nd Baseman Jerry Finger cant wait for the 2016 season he told Chicago Tribune after the game.
" I felt like this was supposed to be my year to finally bring this team to the promise land, we were number 1 in the division before I went out with that broken hand and its sucks that wasn't here to help my team, 60 days is too long to be away from the game."
He was referring to back in May when he broke his hand stealing 2nd Base for the second time in a game against the Cardinals. Before his injury the Cubs looked like they were poised to win the division but after he left things came back down to reality. I don't know if at the time if u would have asked around the clubhouse who was the Cubs best player many would of said Finger's name but now there is no doubt who the man is in this ballpark.
Over his first 2 season none of which were full seasons in the MLB Finger's career stats are 510abs 156H 19HRs 64RBIs and a .306AVG not to mention around 40SBs
in 84games this season he has 308AB 14HR 40RBI .302AVG .494SLG% .322OBP 9BB 46SO 33SB
Despite playing less than 150 games he leads the team in Stolen Bases, is Tied for 2rd in Homeruns
The Sky is the limit for this 23yr old kid and former 4th round pick. He has become not only the best player on the Cubs but one of the best players in the MLB if next year he can avoid injury I expect BIG things from him and this team. I truly believe that he is capable of taking this team to the playoffs given a full season to play. 2016 will be a great year for the Cubs.Only thing in sports that matters is Chicago Bears, Bulls, Cubs, and Blackhawks .

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Curious to know if other people do this.
once the offseason comes around I save the game right before it starts in a separate file.
I thin proceed to simulate the off-season multiple times around 10-15 times just to see the different options or moves the Cubs may or may not make to make the team better. These are the 2 best improvements I came upon aka the 2 best alternate realities for the 2016 Cubs.
In both realities we added CP Jake Barrett age 24 A potential 68ovr in rule 5 draft. CP Matt Stites age 25 B potential 69ovr which would make them both our highest overall rated CP in the organization.
Alternate Reality #1
So one time I simulate the cubs improved greatly at right field by adding Kyle Jensen age 27with C potential. 76ovr with power in the 70's he would immediately become our starting RF, but I like Jorge Soler a lot but would rather have the better player so this is good. We also added depth at 1B with M.P. Cokinos age 26 C potential and 84 Power Left he becomes another nice power hitter on the bench. That's the only major moves we made to effect the team in the Majors. but it would be nice to have 2 extra hitters and a legit RF
Alternate Reality #2
I usually negotiate my 1yr deals to try and get the most possible but during this simulation I decided to take their first offer for $590,000 for 1 year. I simulate the off season and proceed to the the spring training and go take a look at the roster and to my surprise the Cubs have somehow signed Freaking SP Jordan Zimmermann age 29 89ovr B potential. I am so freaking excited right now like man this is amazing to have a legit STAR SP on our team I cant wait to start this season easy to understand ima go with this version of the 2016 CUBS. lol idk how we got him but thank God we did.
our SP rotation will be
J.Zimmermann 89ovr
T.Wood 84ovr
J.Samardzija 79ovr. idk how the Knight and the OFSM guys have him so severely underated he started off as a 82 with B potential but dropped down to C potential once he turned 30 for some reason but watever
E.Jackson 77ovr
J.Arrieta/T.Lyons 76ovr both are rated 76 but Arrieta has B potential but is 1 year older so idk who would be the 5th starter I think Lyons he is there in training camp pitching rotations.
I think that makes for a nice starting group for us.
about to go play through or possibly simulate this spring training idk but I will come back with a full season outlook for my 2nd Baseman and 2016 CubsOnly thing in sports that matters is Chicago Bears, Bulls, Cubs, and Blackhawks .

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
So end year 1 for my phenom Starting Pitcher of the Oakland Athletics. What a whirlwind ride for Champ!
Drafted in the late 3rd round of the draft, Champ figured to have to wait a couple years behind a pretty stacked starting rotation in Oakland.
He came out firing for the AA Midland Rockhounds though, going 7-1 with them in 15 starts, striking out 115 in 106 innings, ERA of 2.04 and a WHIP of .962. His last game with the Rockhounds was his best, a complete game shutout where he struck out 8, walked only 1 and allowed a meager 5 singles other than that. He was immediately promoted to AAA Sacramento Rivercats.
Champ wasted little time proving he was worthy of the callup, tossing another complete game shutout with the Rivercats. A 3 hit, no walk and 10 Strikeout shutout. Word is the A's, who were fighting the Astros for reigns of the "Worst Team in Baseball", perked their interest in calling up the kid to see if he could help stop some of the bleeding. Champ continued to pitch well, although had some shaky outings pitching against tougher hitters. Nothing would surprise the young pitcher more than than the call he received in early August from A's GM Billy Beane. "Son, we just lost Sonny Gray for a few weeks and we need another starter, and we want you up here. Pack your bags kid, and welcome to the Show."
Champ expected just a couple spot starts in the bigs, but was really shocked. I mean, call up an 18 year old to the majors already? Especially since Tom Millone was dominating all year in AAA. Nevertheless, Champ was excited to be pitching in the Major Leagues!
His first Major League start came August 6th, 2014 vs the Minnesota Twins. In front of the home crowd, Champ showed what potential he has, by striking out the first batter he faced in Pedro Florimon. The final tally for his first start:
7 innings, 9 hits allowed, 3 runs all earned, 1 walk, 6 K's. Decent outing from an 18 year old rookie making his first start.
Champ made a couple more starts, and once Gray was back, he figured to get demoted back to AAA. However, the A's decided to stick with Champ the rest of the year. Champ had some rough outings, but some decent ones as well, even handling the tough Rangers offense twice. Champ suffered from some poor managing(as a couple starts he should've been taken out much earlier) and offense, heck even bullpen woes, but still wound up finishing with a promising rookie season.
In 10 starts, ended up going:
3-3, 66 2/3 innings given up 55 hits, 23 runs, 15 walks with 51 strikeouts. An ERA of 3.10 and a WHIP of 1.06.
At the end of the year, Champ was resigned to the 1 year, $500,000 contract and is slotted to be the #5 starter for the A's to begin the new year. At only 19 years old, he has a very bright and promising future ahead!7 National Championships
