Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

Why could I request a trade most of last season, but now I can't this season? I'm stuck on the bench and I've literally started 2 games all month.

I'm just tired of taking 2 minutes to load a pinch hitting opportunity, crushing the first pitch I see for a deep out, get taken out of the game... Wash, rinse, and repeat.

I started a new RTTS as a LF with the new hybrid rosters. Drafted 1st overall to the Astros - got called up the first week of May.

I was batting .311 with 2 HR and 15 RBI when I got called up.

Attributes look like this at this point:

      CNTR - 50
      CNTL - 50
      PWRR - 55
      PWRL - 49

      Vision - 60
      Speed - 62

I don't think my guy is ready for the bigs, and I expect a lot of struggling

I got called up pretty quick as well my first year but I made my guy in his early 20's so i didn't seem too crazy since I was wrecking in Double AA. I struggled a lot since I was drafted by the Twins and they had me batting in front of Hicks. Eventually the Twins traded me to the Red Soxs once they called up Bruxton. I have been on the Reds Sox ever since and I hated it at first, team struggled my first two years I was there finishing 4th place in the AL East.

Red Soxs eventually locked me up on a 6 year deal after I had a good Sophomore year. We are now sitting in 1st place 7.5 in front of the Orioles in the Month of August in 2016. I don't expect us to make it to the World Series though since our Bullpen is awful but our offense is amazing. Ever since Ortiz retired we have been a better team, we have this 24 year old International rookie name Gary Cahill (going to assume he is British or Chelsea's FC defender lol?!) he has been lights out leading our team in RBI's. Looking forward to play more.

Hey my RF has racked up 8 errors this season. I still misjudge certain fly balls from time to time, I am really thinking of swapping him to LF or to CF since I made sure he has good arm and above average speed. Might rack up some more assists in LF though.

Update on my Ken Griffey-like left fielder in the Rockies organization. My LF, who is also named Griffey, had a weird stretch in April despite hitting nearly .330, he was benched and didn't play for a week. This, combined with being blocked behind Carlos Gonzalez in the org. had me contemplating asking for a trade but I've yet to do that.

With my secondary position listed as all outfield, I got a start in center field one day. I really enjoyed it, and was good at it, so I asked for a position change to CF.

To my surprise it was granted. BUT, I never played 1 game in CF for Double A Tulsa as the starter. Upon getting switched to CF, I was immediately called up to Triple A.

My first game with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox is on 5/27/14. Hoping to be the every day CF, I really want to get to the majors this year, as none of my RTTSs got promoted to the bigs in 2014. So that'd be cool.

Will post more updates, hopefully my next one is about a major league call up.

UPDATE: my triple A debut was uneventful, 0-4 with only 1 fly ball chance in CF. in the second game my CF went 3-5 with two triples and a double. I checked the organizational depth chart for CF, I'm listed as the 3rd best CF, Drew Stubbs is currently the major league starter at 74 overall I think. Looking forward to this RTTS a lot more now. The position change and triple a call up has been great so far.

splash hit homers at AT&T park

I have a 2B playing for the hometown SF Giants. Just nailed a monster home run that cleared the right field wall and then some. Unfortunately there was no visualization of the ball going into the bay. However, they did show the splash hit sign at the park go from 62 to 63. Nice little detail added to the game, and I am really motivated now to hit a few more

                Lets go Giants!

                regards,

Does anyone else have horrible CPU when you are fielding? There will be so many times when the CPU will bunt. It could be 2 strikes, 2 outs, the game on the line, or their clean up hitter and they bunt. Really frustrating.

Had a great year in 2016 with the Red Sox after switching my player to LF, batted .308 29 HR 90 RBIs 44 SB however I was pissed they didn't let me finish the last game of the season so I could get 30 HRs on the season . My team finished first in AL East only to get swept by the Rangers in the first round, since our bullpen blew leads in the late innings and the rest of my teams bats never showed up.

I was excited to go into the next season only to find out in December I get traded to the freaking Rockies for Carlos Gonzalez and a A potential young pitcher! I felt really hurt about this until our season opener against the LA Dodgers. We ended up blowing them out 16-0!! I went 2-6 with 1 HR 3 RBIs and 4 Runs scored and two SBs. Maybe being on the Rockies won't turn out so bad only time will tell.

Bubba "Big Country" Woods' Rookie season came to close last night in a 4-3 win in Los Angeles. The 2013 Georgia State Player of the Year and 12th overall draft pick, finished his rookie season batting .235 11 HR 33 RBIs in 49 games. While he did not win Rookie of the year or make the playoffs with the Padres (72-90), the 6'8" 265 lb. 19 year old First baseman seems to have found a permanent home in San Diego.

" It is a lot to come up to MLB at 19 years old and perform the way he has out of the cleanup spot" said HC Bud Black. " I thought he gave our lineup stability and a true power hitter that we really needed. There are some things we need to work on this off-season but hell, the kid is only 19. He is 4-5 years ahead of the learning curve. He is only going to grow from here on out."

Woods also had the highest fielding percentage of any qualifying rookie (130 AB) in 2015 at .998%. The former UGA football commit had this to say about his rookie season and the future.

Bubba: " I feel I did a damn good job this season. I ain't one for all the drama but once I found my place I felt I did pretty damn good. I am gonna take this offseason to improve my all around game and try to make the next step into becoming an All-Star. I'd love to experience some post-season baseball next year as well. We just need to bring in the right guys and work."

Jack:" Bubba, with your baseball career taking off, do you miss what could have been in football or do you not think of it?"

Bubba:" I can't play college ball now that I am getting paid for baseball, so that only leaves the NFL Draft. As it stands now, I am not three years removed from HS. I am not gonna answer any of those questions til the 2016 season is over. But y'all know my stance on being a dual-sport professional athlete and I think the way our season lines up with the NFL is perfect. I would only miss Weeks 1-4 if we win the World Series. I have been training privately but my main focus in 2016 is baseball. If I declare I declare, but MLB and the Padres are #1."

I am sure we will have more to come when the 2016 MLB season kicks off. Until March, I am Jack Timber- Fauxpa Sports

That's awesome lol I'm having fun with it so far. Ken Griffey Jr was one of my favorite players to watch, so I thought this would be cool to do. My CF wore 24 in Double A but it was taken in Triple A so I switched to 30.

                              I'm struggling, as expected. Through my first 5 games my stats look like this - .100 (2 - 20), 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 walk, 1 K, 3 errors

I'm really hoping they send me down to Triple-A, I'm barely getting any training points due to my struggling.

Technically, I think Bubba could still play college football. If you are professional in one sport, you can still play college sports in a different sport. Unless they have changed that rule. Someone on here will know for sure.

My 19 year old SS with the Reds has been on the Major League Roster the entire 2nd year. I started out pinch hitting and spot starting at 2B and SS during the first month or so. My guy played well though and should've been starting much earlier, but now has secured a starting spot near the end of May. He is hitting .337 with 9 HR and around 30 RBI. I have 21 stolen bases, but my runs scored aren't where they should be. Everytime I get on 2nd or 3rd, even with 0 or 1 out, my guys will strike out and I never come around to score. The Reds are lingering around .500 and unless things really turn around I don't think we can win the division and even the Wildcard is going to be difficult. It's still early in the year, but it doesn't look like the postseason is in the cards this year.

I'm really enjoying my guy's career and he is the leader for Rookie of Year, but only like 6th in NL SS all star voting. I should be probably 2nd or 3rd. I guess hoping to be an All-Star in my rookie year and being only 19 might be a little too much to ask for.
