I love my Cubs roster especially since we have SP Zimmermann now great move by the front office to get him during the off season.

But we have 2 good 3rd baseman in Olt and Kris Bryant I really wish Road to The Show had something like 2K where u can ask for a player to be traded because there is no reason for us to have both of them when we have other positions of need we could trade one of them for. But its early in the season hopefully one of them is moved before its all said and done.
Only thing in sports that matters is Chicago Bears, Bulls, Cubs, and Blackhawks .

      Bubba "Big Country" Woods

      Major League Bubba

Our last update on 2013 Georgia HS Baseball Star, Bubba Woods, ended on a sour note when he was demoted to AA San Antonio to start 2015 despite an All-Star season in AAA last year. However since that report in April, Bubba "Big Country" Woods has been on the fast track to MLB Stardom.

On May 3rd, after 31 games in AA, Woods finally was promoted to AAA El Paso and continued right where he left off in 2014. He batted .335 12 HR 43 RBIs in only 120 AB (28 Games). He once again made the AAA All-Star game despite giving a month on the competition. But the real shocking news is what happened after the All-Star game.

" I just got back to the hotel when I heard my phone go off" says Woods. " I saw the 619 area code and figured I had finally been traded after hearing I would not be pulled up this season."

However, Bubba was not traded. The call was from GM Josh Byrnes telling Woods he had been added to the 40 man roster and would make his MLB debut that Saturday. 1B Yonder Alonso was optioned to AAA and everything I have reported on these past two seasons started to make sense. The Padres planned on having Woods as their future 1B when the time was right which is why they never dealt him. Touche Padres.

The 19 year old made his MLB debut in Atlanta and went 1-5 with a HR in the 8th inning. When asked about his first game Woods told our reporters " To grow up in Georgia and play my first game at Turner is something I could have never planned. Yes, it was for the opposing team but to hit a HR in a 3-2 win in my 5th at-bat is just amazing. I look forward to getting better and dominating this league in the next few seasons. I could not be happier to be a Padre and now ,that all the waiting is done, it's time to play some baseball."

The season is now in the home stretch (24 games remaining) and the Padres are 62-76. While the playoffs are not in reach, Bubba Woods continues to be a productive starter for San Diego (.252 10 HR 28 RBI in 38 games). The 6'8" 265 lb. 1B 19 year old seems to have finally found a home in the Majors and we will continue to track his progress in the upcoming seasons.

Make sure you but some points in Reaction as it makes the fly ball indicator appear faster. I didn't enjoy playing CF that much compared to the corners positions but once you get the hang of it is pretty cool. Once I get my fielding up I plan on giving Manual catch a try.

Thanks for the tip, I'll do that. Outfield has been hit or miss so far for my LF, I make some routine plays, then totally miss others lol still practicing up on it.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

I'm a CF but I've been relegated solely to DH the last 3 weeks or so, it's pissing me off. Not being able to get points for fielding means iIm developing slower, not to mention I really like fielding.

Any idea on how to get them to put me back in centerfield? I'm in the Royals organization at the AAA level, right now they're starting Bubba Starling in CF. He deserves to start, but previously they had been starting him in a corner spot and me in center, or vice versa.

I really don't want to have to go to the Interactions and request a position change to LF or RF because then I'll automatically get put on the bench for a few weeks and only get spot starts (at least that's happened every other RTTS that I've asked for a position change; they let you switch but then put you as a backup and make you "earn your spot" so to speak).

Any idea on how to get back in the lineup as an outfielder rather than a DH? I've been putting almost all my points into fielding attributes lately hoping that would do it, but still stuck DH'ing.

EDIT: Well I decided to ask for a switch to left field and see if they'd do it without benching me first, and luckily they obliged. This has the double benefit of making it less likely I'll be called up too early (although with this game I still wouldn't doubt it). When I was in CF I had a higher adjusted overall that Lorenzo Cain and I was worried a callup was coming soon even though I'm only a 69 overall. But in LF I've got Gordon who's an 87 overall and his adjusted overall is a 99, he's actually leading the AL in batting right now. So hopefully I'll be able to keep building myself up as a AAA starter rather than an MLB bench player for a while.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

Playing on Dynamic difficulty and modeled somewhat after myself.

Kit, a starting pitcher from the West, 18yrs old decided to participate in the MLB draft of 2014.

A SP who aspires to have:
              - Nolan Ryan's durability/ability to throw strikes
              - Mariano Rivera's simplicity and complete mastery of his pitches

He had a limited pitching arsenal and average velocity, neither outstanding nor overpowering.
              - 95mph 4SFB
              - 91mph 2SFB
              - 90mph cutter

During the draft, he under performed, recording 0 strikeouts and was eventually drafted by the Giants in the 5th round. Disappointed but undeterred, he signed with the Giants and thus begun his journey to the MLB.

In AA league, Kit recorded 7 games before being called up to AAA with a 0.95 ERA, miserable 40K, 7W and 56IP of which 2 were shut outs due to great defensive back up. He couldn't have done it without his team.

"It is indeed sad to have to leave the Flying Squirrels so early in the season.

I've had great defensive backup with me in my short stint here. I hope to play with them again in AAA."
              - Kit

His start in AAA was not as smooth sailing, he gave up 3 runs in the 1st game before recording another 4 in the 2nd. However, with encouragement from his team mates and coaches, he persevered.

Proceeding to finish the 1st season in AAA with a 1.53 ERA, 240K, 11W 4L and 216IP. He even starred in the AAA All-Star.

"I couldn't have done it without the support from my coaches and catchers. Who have given me tips and obliged in participating in my pitching training.

My improved control over my cutter could not have come without them. They deserve the most credit for developing my deadly cutter."
              - Kit

Unfortunately, the offensive support was greatly lacking and the Fresno Grizzles proceeded to finish at the bottom of the table. He had put in 2 transfer requests that were not approved during the season when he was frustrated at the lack of run support.

However he continued to sign on for another year with the Giants for 100k.

"While I was initially frustrated at the lack of runs during the season, after reassurance and training with the team, I am assured that the team will continue to strive to improve.

The team has promised each other to remain vigilant and not slack off. To constantly improve ourselves and move forward as an integrated cohesive unit."
              - Kit

The 2015 AAA seasons looks set to be an exciting one as Kit seems to have added a splitter to his pitching arsenal.

"The splitter will definitely not be a pitch that will hog the spotlight but we have devious plans for when to utilize this pitch.

We hope that the fans will enjoy watching this pitch and we hope opposing hitters hate it. Just like they hate the cutter."
              - Kit

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

Durham Rising Up the Prospect Ranks

When it comes to major league prospects at the Shortstop position, the names thrown around all the time are Javier Baez, Carlos Correa, Addison Russell, and Francisco Lindor.

But one name that is quickly rising up the ranks of prospect shortstops is Dustin Durham.

The first round draft pick by the San Francisco Giants has had a tremendous first month in Double-A. He's batting .356. He leads all Double-A in total hits with 48. He has 6 triples, 6 doubles, and has droven in 10 RBI's batting in the leadoff spot for the Flying Squirrels. He scores a ton, 26 total, which places him tied for 2nd in all Double-A. And he leads all Double-A in stolen bases with 13.

"When I step into the batter's box, I have a certain pitch in mind. If I get that pitch, I go at it. I guess you could say I've gotten that pitch quite a bit so far this season." - Durham

Indeed he has, as he's in the top-10 in all Double-A in batting average. At the plate, Durham is a determined hitter. He's a free swinger and almost always gets good wood on the ball. But one thing he has not shown to have the ability to do yet is get consistent walks. He has only 5 walks in 140 plate appearances, and he knows that's something he needs to work on.

"The downfall to my aggressiveness at the plate is that I don't walk much. Being in the leadoff spot, I realize that walks can be a huge deal. I'll continue to work on that aspect." - Durham

The lack of walks haven't hurt Durham or the Flying Squirrels too much, as Durham is tied for 2nd in all Double-A in runs scored. But if he begins to rise up to Triple-A and, in the future, the Majors, the pitching will get tougher, which means that average will drop. He'll have to improve his walk rate if he wants to get on base consistently at the higher levels.

Another thing he'll need to work on is his defense. He's not a bad defender by any stretch of the imagination, but with 5 errors in 29 games, he'll need to show that he can make the easy plays on a consistent basis.

If he continues to improve on these things, we'll be mentioning Dustin Durham with the likes of Baez, Correa, and Lindor. Which will make the Giants very happy to hear.

Started a new RTTS and created a 1st baseman named Darren Daulton. Named him after my all-time favorite Philadelphia Phillie. Had a solid showcase including a 4-5 showing in the 3rd game. 3 singles, a double, a walk, and 1 RBI.

I was drafted 13th overall in the 1st round by the San Francisco Giants. Time to get started playing at Double-A for the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

Darren Daulton has A potential and is rated 58 overall to start his career at the age of 18.

                                Bubba "Big Country" Woods

                                End of 2015

Bubba "Big Country" Woods' Rookie season came to close last night in a 4-3 win in Los Angeles. The 2013 Georgia State Player of the Year and 12th overall draft pick, finished his rookie season batting .235 11 HR 33 RBIs in 49 games. While he did not win Rookie of the year or make the playoffs with the Padres (72-90), the 6'8" 265 lb. 19 year old First baseman seems to have found a permanent home in San Diego.

" It is a lot to come up to MLB at 19 years old and perform the way he has out of the cleanup spot" said HC Bud Black. " I thought he gave our lineup stability and a true power hitter that we really needed. There are some things we need to work on this off-season but hell, the kid is only 19. He is 4-5 years ahead of the learning curve. He is only going to grow from here on out."

Woods also had the highest fielding percentage of any qualifying rookie (130 AB) in 2015 at .998%. The former UGA football commit had this to say about his rookie season and the future.

Bubba: " I feel I did a damn good job this season. I ain't one for all the drama but once I found my place I felt I did pretty damn good. I am gonna take this offseason to improve my all around game and try to make the next step into becoming an All-Star. I'd love to experience some post-season baseball next year as well. We just need to bring in the right guys and work."

Jack:" Bubba, with your baseball career taking off, do you miss what could have been in football or do you not think of it?"

Bubba:" I can't play college ball now that I am getting paid for baseball, so that only leaves the NFL Draft. As it stands now, I am not three years removed from HS. I am not gonna answer any of those questions til the 2016 season is over. But y'all know my stance on being a dual-sport professional athlete and I think the way our season lines up with the NFL is perfect. I would only miss Weeks 1-4 if we win the World Series. I have been training privately but my main focus in 2016 is baseball. If I declare I declare, but MLB and the Padres are #1."

I am sure we will have more to come when the 2016 MLB season kicks off. Until March, I am Jack Timber- Fauxpa Sports
