Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

Two months ago Jeff Chapman, a.k.a. The Quarter-of-a-Billion Dollar Man, hustled to score on the final out of a game in Cincinnati. On that play he came up limping. The diagnosis? A torn hamstring. He was placed on the 60-day DL.

In those 60 days, the Yankees went 27-31. New York floundered heavily. Even Chapman's partner-in-crime Max Muncy struggled, dropping from his high average of .320 to .274 in the two months.

Meanwhile, Chapman spent his time off the field in New York getting his pictures in the paper for the wrong reasons. The Yankee RF was allegedly part of a late night brawl at a club and was even landing in headlines for being romantically involved with celebrities like Kate Upton (tough luck Verlander). Apparently he wasn't ready for the limelight of New York after spending 7 seasons in Chicago with the White Sox.

However his time expired on the DL and Chapman was reinstated on July 1st. In his first AB back from injury, Chapman took the Cubs pitcher deep and notched his 5th HR of the season and knocked in his 16th and 17th RBI's. Chapman also managed to get on base two more times but it wasn't enough to beat the Cubs who won 7-3. But the Yankees' fortunes should be turning around now, here's to the second half.

Mid 2nd season I was giving up hope getting to the Majors behind Kinsler (Detroit) but he slumped for a month and I got the call but what surprised me was they named me the starter and sent Kinsler down to AAA, maybe the most expensive AAA'er ever..

Start of 2016 season, I'm pitching pretty well, 4-0 in 7 GP, 2.39 ERA. But man I'm giving up HR's almost every game. Most of them are solo ones, but I need to get those HR's given up down!

After reluctantly signing with the White Sox organization, my first game with the Birmingham Barons was a solid one.

I finished 4/5 with 3 doubles, 1 HR, and 3 RBI, and 2 Runs in a 7-6 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits.

I've now hit 3 HRs using contact swing (circle) on 0-2 counts...

My alter-ego my son Matt is playing SS for the Mariners and just today had a milestone to be continued. A legitimate hitting streak part of which ( about 20 games ) was broadcast live on twitch today. Pretty exciting he tied TyCobb's record as mentioned on the broadcast. Very Cool

My First Baseman in the Giants Organization was finally brought up to the majors after the minor league season was over. There are a few weeks left in the season and at a couple games below .500 the Giants are completely out of the playoff picture.

My first at bat came at Arizona and I worked a full count before going long to accomplish my first major league hit and home run in the same at bat. The remainder of the game I had a walk and a couple of outs. I also was not stellar in the field committing my first error.

My overall rating is 78. I've only used earned points to upgrade my player and have not bought any. After playing most of my minor league using Dynamic difficulty I switched it to Hall of Fame before getting called up.

                      Bubba "Big Country" Woods

                      Here Comes Bubba

Greater Atlanta's own Bubba Woods has continued to rip apart the AA ranks out in San Antonio. The 6'8'' 265 lb.- Yes, he has grown 1 inch and added 10 lbs.- 1B was hitting .298 10 HR 48 RBIs in only 31 games for the San Antonio Missions. He led AA in HR, 2Bs, and RBI's.

That effort sparked the Padres to promote the 18 year old to AAA El Paso. Through 10 games the former 2013 Georgia State Player of the Year is hitting .435 with 2 HR and 4 RBI's. When asked if the former UGA football commit regrets passing up his scholarship for professional Baseball " Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it. But I made a decision and I am happy with that choice. I am only one step from the bigs and nothin ain't stoppin me."

Rumor around the League is The Padres are still smitten 1B Yonder Alonso despite his .245 average. According to sources, Woods and his agent would not be content on sitting in AAA for a few seasons before coming up. Could this mean Bubba could be on the move with the current pace he is on? Only time will tell.

I just got a PS4 on Friday, and The Show was my first purchase and I have not been disappointed. I'm a 3B (HS position), and I got drafted in the 2nd round by the Angels.

I'm tearing the cover off the ball in AAA. I'm hitting .416 with 9HR and 35RBI so far in mid-May. I'm a 60 overall with a 77 adjusted overall, and the AAA guy and MLB guy are both struggling and below expectations while I am exceeding them. Currently B potential. Hoping to get promoted to AAA soon.

I just got called up to The Show!

CF drafted in the 3rd round by the Twins. Did well in AA, got called up to AAA in the second week of May. Got called up to the big leagues right before June. So far I played a 3 game set against the Yankees, where we won 2 out of 3. I did pretty okay I guess, 5 hits, 1 HR, and a few RBI. But the pitching is definitely on another level, and I was pretty shook going up against CC. Any hitting tips/suggestions you guys have? I started well but have a feeling I won't be able to keep it up, as I'm seeing pitches I never really dealt with in the minors.

                            Yankee Stadium looks incredible, btw.

Has anyone ever experienced not being able to pitch a strike at all? I would be down 1-0 and wanting to pitch a strike, and miss 2-0. Which is fine. But then I would not move the ball marker at all, basically aiming the pitch down the middle, and make the pitch. I would hit the accuracy meter spot on, and he would pitch way off the strike zone. Try again, not move the ball marker again, and hit the accuracy marker, and the pitch would miss badly again, a 4 pitch walk. It's like the computer decided that that one is a walk no matter how I pitch..

                                Bubba "Big Country" Woods

                                Bubba Drama

Bubba Woods is only taking the field for his 16th AAA game for El Paso Wednesday night against Round Rock but the rumors are starting to take shape. The 18 year old 6"8" 265 lb. First baseman is hitting the cover off the ball since being called up two weeks ago. He is batting .439 3 HR 14 RBI and has surprised many with 5 SB. He is also on an 11 game hitting streak. Add that to his 31 game AA production (.298 10 HR 48 RBI), and Woods is having no problems at the professional level.

However, word is the Padres could be looking to trade the up and coming Woods because of a "conflict of interest" between the team. My source told me last night the the Padres have "no intention on bringing up Woods this or next season." The reasoning is because they are content with having Yonder Alonso as the starter and Yasmani Grandal back him up. After speaking with Russ Homeroff, Woods' agent, Bubba is "growing tired of performing with no immediate future plans". While is it not common for 18-20 year olds to jump to the majors, Bubba seems pro ready now and is looking to help someone at that level. The Padres have had no comment on his status as they are currently the second worst team in MLB. Woods, the 2013 Georgia State Player of the Year and 12th overall pick of the Padres, has expressed interest in moving with the Padres according to my source but they would want 3 top prospects for him, which no one seems willing to give up now.

In speaking with Woods, he said " I am happy here in El Paso and I continue to go out everyday and perform. I am gonna leave the GM crap to the agents and front office people. I am a player and I play."

While I am sure Metro-Atlanta would love to have their son come back and play with the Braves, that possibility is slim with Freeman getting a big deal last season and no DH in the NL. This reporter believes teams like Houston and Seattle could be front runners, with the dark horse being Miami. All we know is Big Country continues to flourish as a pro and will get his shot one day, even if it is away from San Diego.
