Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I still don't understand why when you take BP the field is still completely empty. No pitchers shagging in the outfield, no fans trying to catch baseballs. Also, line drives straight to the "L-Screen" go right through as if there's nothing thereComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Just finished season one with my CF'er with the giants. Played in 46 games mostly as a pinch hitter and pinch runner. Finished with a .265 average 4 homers 13 runs 9rbi and 15 stolen bases (not bad for having 13 hits).
We made the playoffs as a wild card and lost our play-in game to the dodgers. The Yankees beat the nationals for the 2014 World Series.
Re-signed with the giants to a bench role unfortunately for 575k for the next season.
Here is to not being a pinch runner next season!Comment

Man it seems like the game doesn't want me to reach double digits in wins. Currently record is 9-3, and the past 6 games it's either I pitch a near perfect game, allowing 0 to 1 runs, and having no offensive support, or more recently, have a huge lead such as 7-3 9-4 and my relievers ending up giving up runs for the opposing team to tie the game. :basheshead:Now Playing: MLB 11: The Show, Battlefield BC2, Pokemon White, Portal 2, Mass Effect 2 (still), COD: Black Ops, FIFA '11

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
So I finally finished my first season (might do a little write-up about it later) but as I'm trying to get through the offseason I notice the Astros keep releasing George Springer in the offseason. They don't tender him a contract.
He's making 80k a year in AAA, 76 overall B potential 24 years old, and they keep just not tendering him a contract by the deadline and letting him walk. THEY COULD LITERALLY RENEW HIS CONTRACT FOR LIKE 65K. What the hell man? I keep reloading, simming through and they do it every time. And then when we get to the end of the offseason we have like 19 million in salary cap. This is realllllllly annoying me
EDIT: They are also releasing Asher Wojciechski in the same manner every single time I sim (71, B potential, 25 year old starting pitcher). Just makes no sense.Last edited by Madden's Jowels; 05-21-2014, 09:13 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I created a CF and got drafted by the Indians. I batted .490 in 12 AA games then got called up to AAA.
AAA was a struggle. I batted .277 in my 141 ABs then tore my rotator cuff and was done for the year.
Now im in 2015 where I started in AA. In 38 games i batted .406 with 19 HR 57RBIs and 10SBs. I also had 8Es.
I finally got called up to the show on June 1 where i went 0-5. The next day i went 2-4 with 6SBs!!! Through 14 games i am batting .333 with 3HRs 12RBIs 8SBs and 4Es. We are 38-32 with a 0.5 lead over the Tigers and in game 2 of 3 in our series with the Tigers.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I've noticed that the AI this year is really bizarre. When I was with the White Sox we traded away a promising young talent for John Jaso... Jaso was 36 at the time and retired at the end of the year

I just can't think of any rationale behind it. After we let him go, we end up signing a right fielder that's 10 points worse, 4 years older and costs 8-12 times the salary. With less potential.
I mean there's nothing random about it because I've tried this about 15 times now and every single time they let Springer walk. So there's something that's making them look at Springer whos the 3rd best outfielder on the roster (only behind me and Fowler) who they can control for 6 more years, 3 of which for dirt cheap contracts, and say "yeeeaaah lets just let him leave for nothing."
This seriously makes me want to quit lol.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Got drafted by the Brewers in the 2nd round as a 3B. I was in AA about a month and a half before being called up to AAA Nashville.
In AAA, I kind of struggled, but I was able to get a run going at the end of the season. I ended up batting .252 I believe.
After my first season, I made the 40-man roster, and was promoted to the Brewers bench. Unfortunately, I was made the PH guy and made an estimated 7 starts during my first MLB season because of Aramis Ramirez having the job at third. I requested a trade a few times, but nothing ever came of it.
I batted .240 with 2 HRs, and had less than 20 RBIs. We ended up winning the division and also had the best record in the majors. The Cardinals won their Wild Card game, and went on to face us. The series went to the decisive game 5 where we came up short and ended our season. The Nationals beat the Orioles to win their first World Series.
I was offered a $500k contract with the Brew Crew for the same job as last year. I pretty much simmed through Spring Training, only stopping to do the training offered. Once Spring Training was completed, both Ramirez and I had a 76 overall, but nonetheless, I was still assigned to bench/PH duty. In my 4th game and at-bat of the season, I was able to get my first hit of the year, which would also be a HR that ultimately won the game against the Reds. Hopefully, I'll get out of this bench role soon.Comment

The regression in this save is TERRIBLE; Trout dropped to a 76 at the beginning of 2021 and the free fall has continued through Spring Training and the first 2 weeks of the season - he's down to 72 (70 ConR, 60 PowR, 55 ConL, 55 PowL, 58 Fielding, 70 speed...).
Oh well, it's only happening in this save file, in a franchise I have Trout is still a 99 overall, two-time defending AL MVP in 2021."I'm all about that action, boss." - Marshawn Money Lynch

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Update on Jeff Chapman - the 10yr/$250,000,000 RF for the New York Bankees.
Opening Day for the Yankees 2021 season was in Boston. Fenway. The Green Monster. Loud drunk Red Sox fans chanting, "OVERRATED!"
Chapman started off real cold. Through 8 innings he had gone 0-3 with three weak groundouts, and he had shown real laziness by not hustling on a play and allowing a run to come home.
Chapman steps up to the plate in the top of the 9th. Fast ball low and away. Strike one. "OVERRATED!" Slider at the knees and in, meekly fouled off behind the catcher. "OVERRATED!" Fast ball low and away. Late swing. fouled off into the 1st base side dugout. Chanting intensifies, "OVERRATED!" The Boston crowd is foaming at the mouth, 9 innings of warm flat beer and hatred have begun to boil over.
The windup. The offering. High heater. Power vs. power. "OVERRATED!" The anticipation... The swing...
SpoilerChapman's bat connects with a thunderous retort. Chapman struts out of the box. He points to the crowd, the crowd that was just a few moments ago in full pandemonium and was now completely stunned. The ball travels over the Green Monster. New York fanatics would go on to claim the ball landed on the Massachusetts Turnpike. Chapman steps onto home plate, officially tallying his first Yankee HR, first Yankee game winning HR, and his 150th HR all in one motion.
New York headlines ran, "Quarter of a Billion Dollar Man; Show Stopper".
*Disclaimer* The overrated chants did happen, the crowd did go silent, we did win the game, it was my 150th career HR."I'm all about that action, boss." - Marshawn Money Lynch

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I started a new RTTS as a closer. Got an A rating after the showcase and was drafted by the White Sox, same damn team that drafted my first baseman. Points are definitely harder to come by as a closer, especially in such a mediocre farm system where save opportunities are rare. I do get about the same number of points per inning pitched as my first baseman gets per game but I may only pitch in a few innings a week.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Got called up to The Show in about mid-May of the first season. I was hitting lights-out in AA, and the Cardinals traded away the only third baseman ahead of me on the depth chart (Carpenter), so I suppose it was inevitable. Completely skipped AAA. I've been struggling mightily in the Majors.
Through 35 ABs, only 7 hits, but in my last two games I've hit my first and second major league homeruns, so I may be starting to find a groove now. Still, that .200 avg looks really bad, and the slash line of .200/.243/.429 is not worthy of a clean-up hitter (or a major leaguer, for that matter). I'm somewhat hoping they send me back to the minors for this season and I don't waste my rookie status for growing pains, but the club has fairly limited options since trading away Carpenter.Comment
