It really looked bad when seeing a guy like Jacoby Ellsbury trying to steal second; then you see him slide into the bag like he's a 330 pound lineman who has never been taught the proper way to slide.

    Yes, there are pop-up slides

How was the corner infield play? I really felt like these two positions lacked in the animation department, and as a result, would lead to some outcomes that weren't believable. Like the animation of the infielder missing a line drive hit right to him and they "ole" out of the way. Are there more "in between" animations for these positions? For example: a ball that you don't need to dive for but can't quite reach. Also, if there are new in between animations, do they play automatically, or can I use R2 to trigger the animation? I'm hoping for the latter.

I didn't see those animations while we were there, but I do know which ones you mean. However, there are tons of animations that now play out, due to gameplay tuning; some old (that just never played out), and some new. I think in general, you will see more and more varied animations at every position due the the tuning that they've done. Looks very promising.

Do fielders (primarily middle infielders) still slow down in order to field the ball with the forehand, or do they now square themselves up with the ball and keep the ball in front of them (when appropriate, of course)? In my opinion, seeing infielders square up with ground balls, instead of slowing down in order to use the forehand, would make this game look great. For me, seeing the pre-animation slow down in order to utilize a specific animation breaks the immersion. Perhaps it's just a limitation of it being a video game?

This is improved as well, see above. I mentioned in one of my previous replies that the slowing/speeding up of animations have been pretty much removed.

Also, very bummed to see the analog hitting controls go the way of MLB 2K. I had a lot of fun with it.

I didn't use meter pitching myself, but I know a couple of guys did. Maybe they will chime in.

Last year with changes to plate discipline there were about 14 outs and 1 hit per game based upon the 100 games I recorded on default sliders.
I get what you are saying but I would need to be specifically looking at this situation to keep track which I was not.

I played 2 games using meter and I noticed the most difference with punishment side if you missed your perfect release point. The reward was subtle for a perfect release.

I dont like that at all. Maybe I'll stick with analog. (BUT I will at least try out the new meter before doing that).

Just to be clear this reference is in relation to the existing meter. I don't want you to think you only get a subtle result if you hit your perfect release point. I am talking about % change from existing. Actually being punished a little more is good, I don't think you were penalized enough with the meter.

                  OH

                  I knew I was forgetting a question.

Ok so the Twitch Video said that Meter pitching was re-worked to be more unpredictable or something like that.

So my question is... What about Analog pitching? Was that changed too? Any CD guys use Analog pitching that noticed a change? Was it also made less inaccurate and more unpredictable?

No change with analog pitching. The meter was more of a tweak I would not consider it a change.

The mechanic was the same, as far as I could tell. I think the art was updated slightly, but I never used analog pitching in MLB14, so it may not be new.

Re: MLB 15 The Show (Community Day Gameplay Q&A Thread)

It looks like we are not doing CD impression threads this year, so I'll just add a couple impressions on parts of the game that might be of general interest, mainly for fear of forgetting what I still remember (aging is no fun). Sorry that I haven't been contributing to Q&A much so far.

It's been said many times that the game has been (further) slowed down, and it indeed does very beautiful things to the pace of game. It's not just the pace of the player movement that has been slowed down, but, as Chris in the gameplay stream emphasized a lot, there are quite a few additional animations to allow players to take the right amount of time based on the urgency needed to make a particular play. (I would add that where urgency is desired, proper quick movement can still be triggered and I've also seen something new in that regard as well.)

The way the animation variety has become more extended over the "low urgency" type of plays, I felt that I could trigger a wider variety of situational plays by the way I control the player. They seem to be also tied to the difficulty of making particular plays better than the previous years' games. I felt that I needed to control players a bit more properly to make right plays, instead of going straight to the catch area to trigger mundane animations, a repetitive task we have fully learned by now. I still play MLB 14 almost every day (sorry to admit that I can still play that version after trying out MLB 15...) and rarely make fielding mistakes, but given more control that I have with players I actually made a few mistakes that I don't remember ever making in MLB 14. More control means more responsibility.

Also quite a few slower catch animations have been removed or toned down, which means you have a bit more extended time till the catch animation takes over near the catch region. In turn, it makes the fielding a bit more challenging overall.

I do not like to use the word “organic” to describe the changes as it is overused (not to mention what the word brings to my mind is a bunch of women in yoga pants wandering in the produce section of Whole Foods Market), but these improvements make the game feel more organic; they are not only cosmetic but also makes the gameplay feel a bit less automatic and a bit more challenging.

Overall, wonderful improvements for watching the games (as in MoM, CPU vs. CPU, watching teammates in RTTS) but it has gameplay implications. It also is a nice feeling that the part of the gameplay that's often associated with staleness and being too automatic has shown promises for further evolution.

                          Sorry for lack of editing.

My question is about RTTS : The in-play camera was different for RTTS compared to the rest of the game. Did they change the in-play camera to be more like the regular season ect camera ?? or is there some more of an improvement over last years version, thanks

This is disappointing. Do you know if there is at least the option to turn off the blue circle under the fielders?
