Re: Official MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

Just lost in the 2015 NLDS to the Nationals 3-2. Won the first two games at home. In game 5 we were down 4-1 & I hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 7th to take the lead. They scored twice in the top of 9th. In the bottom of the ninth two the batter before me hit into s game inning double play with runners on the corners. I finished the series hitting .367 with two home runs & 9 RBI. The average age of our projected starting lineup is 24. Our pitching staff which was #- in ERA is completely in tact. The only player we loss to free agency was Dexter Fowler.

Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

Im getting ready to make my first foray into RTTS, but before I do I have a few questions that someone can hopefully help me with:

      - I want the "road" to be a longer one, I want it to be a struggle to make it to the bigs, so I'm guessing it's better to start off as a younger prospect, is that correct?

      - do sliders work for RTTS just like a regular franchise or exhibition game, meaning Armor's sliders will work just fine?

-Injuries and trades I'm assuming are both in? How about season long injuries?

-Is there anything else I should know to either do or avoid?
      Thanks for the help.

Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

I have a 23 year old 2B for the A's. During his first spring training (2016), the team started 0 - 11. The organization seems to have taken a step back; my player has the best overall rating out of all of the offensive players on the team with a rating of 83 overall. Surprising once the regular season started the team started playing well. A month in we have been either 1st or 2nd in the division the entire time. My player is in the middle of a monster slump though barely hitting .200 with 2 HRs, 8 RBIs, 2 SBs, maybe 8 Runs. I am worried I will get sent down even though the next best 2B in the organization is Ken Belcher who is 74 OVR with C potential. My potential is a B. I have been hitting cleanup through basically every game despite the slump.

          - No Starting younger does not make the road longer. I am a 19 year old who is now the starter for the Cardinals in CF. Somebody posted an concept he had where he simply was going to bank his points until certain time of the season.

          - Yes, sliders work in RTTS

          - Injuries and trades are both in. I have not had a season ender though.

-No real tips to give except you will receive more point is you bat, field and run the bases. Turn off any of those options and you are potentially leaving training points on the table.

Know what type of player you want to be because your training point cost for categories are affected by your position. I am a CF raising my speed stat is relatively cheap. Raising my contact stats are about average. Raising my power cost is more expensive. If you start a catcher, then I am guessing that upping your speed may get expensive pretty quickly.

Did you use stubs or anything to boost your ratings quicker or is that the norm for players to advance through the system so quickly. Should I expect to be in the big leagues in season one even if I don't use stubs to boost my player? If so that's kinda lame.I was hoping for at least a couple of seasons in the minors. One more thing, is it pretty much a given that my future will be loaded with hardware, all-star appearances, and an induction into Cooperstown? I guess what I'm saying is I don't want to invest my time into something that isn't challenging or rewarding, am I barking up the wrong tree?

I used no stubs. But I also don't play on the hardest difficulty so I had good games and earned a fair number of training points. If I had set the difficulty to a much higher level then I would have struggled, had worse results, earned fewer training points and would probably still be in the minors.

There is a thread somewhere around her that mentions that the difficulty is adjusted in the minors so it is easier than the majors. That may be something you want to keep in mind.

Gotcha. I'm just gonna run on All-Star with Armor's sliders and go from there. thanks again for taking the time to answer my crazy questions lol.

Finally jumped into my first RTTS experience, 20 year old 2B.I played well in the Showcase, and wound up going #6 in the 2nd round to the Red Sox. Considering that Pedroia has 2B locked down, it should be interesting to see where this goes.

3rd start of 2020 didn't have the result I was hoping for. Playing at Tampa Bay against a pitcher who entered with a 5.34 ERA I figured to have an easy enough win. We lose 1-0.
                      I went 8.0 IP (Complete Game for road team), 5 Hits, 0 ER, 1 R, 12 K's, 0 BB
Disappointing game for the best contact and power team in baseball. Welp. Onto the next.

Created myself. 1B. Had a great first two games. Then in the third game, was going 0-4. Last at bat got a 2 rbi triple. Wound up going 4th overall to the Minnesota Twins. First minor league game started at DH and went 3-5 with a double and 2rbi

Wasn't getting playing time so switched to third base. First game at third, made all plays and went 3-5 2B, HR and 6 rbi

Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

After focusing mostly on Diamond Dynasty and Franchise the first month and a half of the game, I have decided to start a RTTS as I have done every year. Last year it was actually the first thing I did, so this is a bit of a change for me to do it last but I really dug into DD this year.

Anyways, every year in the past I have been a SS, who plays 2B what seems like half the time. This year(for some odd reason) I decided to begin as a center fielder. I maxed out Power and put the rest in contact for the preliminary attributes. Power is in the mid 40's now I believe with that.

My rookie showcase was nothing special, went 4/12 with a double and 1 run scored and 1 RBI. I did steal 2 bases. I was drafted in the 2nd round by the Marlins.

Now five games in, I am hitting .167 with a triple and 2 runs scored. I am already wanting a position change onto the infield(1B,2B,3B,SS) but haven't seen the option yet to request that.

My question is, since I started as a CF rather than an IF, did my beginning power numbers struggle due to that? Or does max power preliminary give you a 45 to begin with regardless of position?

                              RTTS fielding is... boring

I play in an adult wood bat baseball league and one of the highlights of my week is taking infield during practice or manning second base during games. Defense in baseball is an incredibly nuanced and dynamic task and it's super difficult, and that's why it is enjoyable.

Defense in the RTTS is boring because it is too easy and repetitive. My guy is a short stop. When the ball is hit, I push left or right while holding square to throw out the runner at first... and I do this over and over and over...

There's rarely an opportunity to make leaping or diving plays and when the ball is hit to me I either catch it or it is entirely out of reach. Throwing errors seem to be totally random.

Basically, it is really unrewarding. There is zero "wow factor" to defense in the RTTS mode, which is a shame, because the game is supposed to simulate real baseball. Defense is fun in real baseball.

So what are your suggestions? Make the batters hit more balls just out of your reach so you're forced to make a diving play?

I'm asking seriously. What do you suggest?
