Thanks. This is what I figured and I totally agree with you. It gets easy to overvalue your own teams prospects, which is what I was doing here. That and trying to gauge Profar's trade value at this point.

But once you do get there, I feel like a package for Lucroy would be around Jay. I could be wrong, but the Twins don't really have that much else to offer that the Brewers would be interested in.

          Let this one stand?

          Phillies (8-10): SP Zach Eglin (2-1, 18 IP, 10 K, 2.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP in AAA)
          for
Yankees (7-10): RF Rob Refsnyder (.302 BA, .859 OPS, 2 HR, 5 RBIs, 0.25 WAR)

Refsnyder would be the starting RF for Philly and Eflin would provide pitching depth at AAA.

Approaching mid-season in my tigers franchise. The team has a 3 game lead in the Central and 3rd in AL. I want to make a move at the deadline to put my team over the top. Nick Castellanos has disappointed greatly and I need to make a change at 3B. What could I get for Castellanos if I was looking for MLB Ready players at 3B, C, or 1B. Just looking for some names that could be traded for Nick 1 for 1.

Dodgers Franchise and just lost starting LF Trayce Thompson for 2-3 months. He was batting .245/.307/.476/1.05 WAR with 8 HR and 14 RBI.
I was looking at these guys to possibly replace him since I'm I'm not a fan of the combo of Van Slyke, Venable and Kendrick in LF:

Ryan Braun: .285/.378/.541/0.84 WAR with 9 HR and 32 RBI (21-28 Brewers)
Josh Harrison: .250/.303/.348/0.33 WAR with 2 HR and 8 RBI (30-19 Pirates)
Nick Markakis: .287/.359/.455/1.19 WAR with 6 HR and 20 RBI (17-31 Braves)

What would it take to get these guys? Or who else would be a good replacement?

Harrison just signed an extension within the last couple years so he isn't very likely or realistic. Plus they're 11 games over .500 and would have no reason to trade a guy from their big league club.

Markakis would take a lower level guy, such as Austin Barnes, or someone outside of the organizational top-10.

Braun will cost the most because frankly he is the most talented of the bunch. The PED is a stain and his salary is kinda high, but you're the Dodgers, and his real life production created surplus even though he is paid like $17 million APY. Maybe around Verdugo, Montas or Buehler. You would add to one of those guys.

Struggling to hit with Nick Castellanos in my Tigers franchise (2016). I'm winning the division and want to get Logan Forsythe from the Rays. The Rays are dead last in the AL, is it plausible that they would trade Forsythe for Castellanos straight up? If not, what if I included Derek Hill or Christin Stewart as well?
Note: Both Castellanos and Forsythe are having mediocre seasons at the plate.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

Alright guys, I posted my top 5 catchers I will be trying to acquire around the deadline and if you have not read it yet, let me get your opinions on that. I would also like to thank the people who have commented and private messaged me their thoughts on the deals as well. Now, I stated i would post my top 5 starters I will look at to try and snag around the deadline. I do not think starting pitching is as much of a need as a catcher but I could use a solid lefty starter. I stand at 32-20 and 5.5 ahead of the Indians for 1st place. My rotation is shaping up like this:

                    Phil Hughes W-L 8-1 IP 77.1 ERA 2.21 WHIP 0.97 WAR 2.01
                    Ervin Santana W-L 4-4 IP 73.1 ERA 3.31 WHIP 1.06 WAR 1.83
                    Kyle Gibson W-L 3-1 IP 67.1 ERA 4.95 WHIP 1.20 WAR 0.32
                    Ricky Nolasco W-L 3-4 IP 66.2 ERA 3.65 WHIP 1.19 WAR 1.77
                    Jose Berrios W-L 5-3 IP 75.2 ERA 3.33 WHIP 0.91 WAR 0.54

Now we will look at the top 5 starters I am looking to acquire!

                    1. Drew Pomeranz W-L 3-3 IP 73.1 ERA 2.09 WHIP 1.19 WAR 1.58
Pomeranz is the number one target for a starter I will like to get. Pomeranz will give me a legitimate lefty in my rotation. He is still fairly young at age 27 and he is under team control for two more years. This is the main reason why he is my number one target. Tyler jay would easily be involved in this deal. The Padres stand at 21-32 and they are in 4th place in the NL West.

                    2. Patrick Corbin W-L 5-4 IP 72.2 ERA 2.60 WHIP 1.13 WAR 0.74
Corbin is more of a pipe dream as he is not only 1 year younger than Pomeranz, but he is without a doubt more dominate. Corbin is another solid lefty that could stabilize my rotation and lead my staff with Hughes and Berrios. Jay would most likely be involved in this deal as well and possibly Shohei Otani. The Diamondbacks stand at 29-25 and are 3rd in the NL West so Arizona may not be willing to deal Corbin.

                    3. Sonny Gray W-L 2-5 IP 64 ERA 4.92 WHIP 1.53 WAR 0.65
Gray is not a lefty but he is still ACE material that could surely upgrademy starting rotation. Gray is having a bad start to his 2-16 season and he is not putting up the same numbers as Pomeranz and Corbin but he would still cost prospects to get. Gray is the same age as Corbin and one year younger than Pomeranz and he is also under team control for three more years. The Athletics stand at 22-31 and last in the AL West.

                    4. Matt Moore W-L 3-0 IP 67 ERA 2.96 WHIP 1.25 WAR 1.42
Moore is another interesting scenario as he is coming back from back to back lost seasons from injury. Moore is off to a solid comeback season and he is only two season out from being one of the best pitchers in baseball. Moore is under contract for four more years and that is a plus as well. The Rays stand in first place in the AL East at 29-22 though so for them to deal would be highly unlikely.

                    5. Julio Teheran W-L 4-4 IP 65 ERA 4.43 WHIP 1.28 WAR 0.89
Teheran has been brought up more on this page than anything else in this world but he is also on my radar as well. No need to tel his information because we all know it. The Braves are 23-29 while sitting in 4th in the NL East.

Let me know what you guys thin and I will keep an eye on these guys for the next month as we close in on the deadline.

Proposed huge trade with the Dodgers:

Rays send Longoria, Souza, Jennings and Smyly to the Dodgers for Turner, Puig, Wood and Crawford. Obviously, Dodgers keeping significant salary in this but I'm looking for a huge shake up of my Rays.

                      Thoughts?

Thats just swapping LFs, RFs, 3Bs, and LH SP's. Doesn't really make sense for either side....

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

I just passed the All Star break in my franchise, so Im now into trading season. Here are a few deals Id like some input on.

                          1. Astros get Mark Trumbo from the Orioles.

                          Trumbo's stats: .262/.321/.500, 19 HR, 1.67 WAR

What would this deal look like? Orioles are well out of it, Astros need a Right handed bat to play either LF or 1B. (Gattis will play the other). Colby Rasmus has been otrocious especially against lefties, but the need at the very least a platoon partner with Preston Tucker, who has been eating RHP's alive.

                          2. Rangers get Julio Teheran and AJ Pierzynski from the Braves

                          Teheran: 110 IP, 3.11 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 7.85 K/9, 3.37 FIP, 2.23 WAR

                          Pierzynski: .266/.294/.324, 1 HR .51 WAR (173 AB's)

Rangers need another starter, Hamels has been their only consistent arm. Also could use a backup catcher, as Chirinos is playing pretty well. Pierzynsi would just be a serviceable backup

                          3. Rangers get Shields/Ross (or both??) from Padres

                          Ross: 110 IP, 3.35 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 9.98 K/9, 2.67 FIP, 3.09 WAR

                          Shields: 91.2 IP (had a short stint on DL), 3.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 7.95 K/9, 3.26 FIP, 1.97 WAR

Same situation as above...and it would be one of these deals or the other (Braves deal or Pads deal). If they could only get one of the two, Ross would be preferred for pretty obvious reasons. But if they could get both Id think it wouldn't be that much more depending on how much of Shields contract they took on.

Any ideas for what these deals would cost?

I have mixed feelings about Joc Pederson in my Dodgers franchise.

In OSFM 3.5, he's got good defense, good speed, and good power. But he's got terrible contact ratings, and I'm trying to build a team based on speed, defense, and contact.

I'm considering shipping him off for a player who better fits my ideal profile, and if I do so, I'd like to send him to a team in a hitter's park with a good short porch in right for lefty power hitters.

Which teams/parks best fit that profile? And which teams do you think might actually be interested in a prospect like Pederson?

I've actually got him in the minors right now, where he's hitting .260-ish with a 25 HR pace.

Don't know who might be interested in your franchise, but parks that would seem to favor lefty power:

                              Yankees Stadium II (NYY)
                              Camden Yards (BAL)
                              "The Cell" (CHW)
                              Great American (CIN)

And I swear every flyball goes farther in the Dbacks park...though you probably wouldn't want to trade Joc in your division.

Yankees Stadium II would seem to be perfect. I sent Stanton there in my carryover and he's raking like crazy. Camden wouldn't be bad either. After all, that place gave rise to Chris Davis. It's almost like a "mini-Fenway" over there. Get it up over the scoreboard and it's not a long poke.

Any idea of what the Blue Jays would have to give for Jay Bruce, Cargo or Chris Carter? Bruce and cargo have both been on the DL for 90% of the season thus far. Both expected back Mid June. I would likely make a deal around the beginning of July. RockiEs, Reds and Brewers appear out of it. Carter believe it or not is hitting .312 with 6 homers and 20 RBI at the end of May.

I have Saunders on the DL and a need for a left handed bat. No one is untouchable at this point. Thanks in advanced.
