    A's get
    Soler
    Almora
    Underwood
    Johnson

    Cubs get
    Gray
    Lowest rated player on roster.

I would have to do it in 2 trades, is the value close. Thanks for any info
That's not a bad package for Gray but Oakland has a knack for fielding an okay team year in and year out. in trading Gray they would want the best READY prospects you got.... IMO if you swap out Almora + Johnson for Baez that would be much better.....

    Cubs Get - Sonny Gray

    Oakland Get's- Soler + Baez + Underwood

The A's get two guys that can come in and start in the out field and at 2nd (Marcus Semien is at SS) so moving Baez to second would help them plug up the middle for some time while also getting a prospect in Underwood that has had sporadic success but has gotten better and should be able to help in (2018-2019).. The Cubs get another Ace to go along with Arrieta and Lester..

You're trading for an elite pitcher so it should hurt.....

        No problem...

To help try and think about it like this...

*Zobrist just signed a four year deal worth 56 million and knowing Theo he didn't pay him that to play off the bench..
*Russell has been playing great so Baez finds himself as the odd man out.
*With Soler once Schwarber comes back you'll be splitting time with the two of them with Schwarber having more upside..

Then lets not forget about Ian Happ and his versatility, he can be fighting for a spot on the team in a year or so.... You got the mix of young big league talent and true prospects to pull the deal off (very few MLB teams can say that)

Agree I've been using player lock with Happ in the minors to get used to him. I really like having the options off the bench, but feel come playoff time I will need another TOR guy in the rotatiin. I also snagged a 2b in the draft in 6th round that is already in the 70s, so losing Baez might hurt depth short time, but not long term. I really appreciate the info.

One more quick question, I would like to move Hammel and his contract off the books, should I send a B prospect with him in a trade for a C level prospect.

What would a package for a guy like Giancarlo Stanton look like? I was thinking of something like Blake Swihart, JBJ, Kopech as a starter. What should it include? I was looking to do it in the 2016 offseason that way Benintendi can get acclimated to CF in the bigs for spring training before taking over that season full time

Why would you go and do that ?

His contract is 2 years 20 mil (but can be 1 if he declines his option) looking at his WAR now and the coming year he is under contract (can't forget IRL he's killing it with an 7-1 record, ERA just over 2 at 2.14 with a WHIP of 1.16)

Right off the bat Giancarlo Stanton has a full NO TRADE CLAUSE but to give you an idea your looking at giving up 3 or more of Benintendi, Moncada, Devers,Espinoza just for starters....

Stanton is arguably the best commodity in the MLB, that has posted a war of 3 or more in 3 out of 6 full seasons (with a 5.47 WAR in 2014) even with him coming off an injury plagued in 2015. Hs 12 years and 308.5 million left of his deal (with option for 25mil in 2028) is crazy yes but if you look at what he brings to ANY MLB team i can see him with a WAR as high as 6-7 so if we look at his surplus value which is (WAR)*(Cost of WAR)*(Team Control Left) minus value that is being paid to player and likely hood of major injuries

                6*8*12 = 576 million - 308.5mil - injury 15-20mil = 252.5 million off surplus value he brings to any team...

What makes you think a team thats not close enough to make the playoffs would give up the best POWER bat for JBJ (who has just found his swing), Blake Swihart (who can't win the job in Boston right now) and Kopech (who has tested positive for banned stimulants and got a 50 suspension) next one can cost a team even more lost games....

You have the prospects to do it (maybe) others may say no but Miami would tell you call back when you where ready to talk for real....

I still think I didn't give them enough and think I gave a bunch at the same. time. Weird. It hurt though. Didn't wanna move Benintendi, but needed that power bat to hopefully put us over the top in year one and get another for papi. We ultimately fell short in the world series to my cubs. (Yes the cubs won it lol then in year two went back and lost to my mariners)

I didn't know he had an option. I thought it was 2 for 20 million with no option. The only reason I was thinking of moving him was when I complete the Gray trade I will have 6 starters. It would be between him and Hendricks, and Hendricks is cost control for a few more years with a lower salary. But if Hammel has the option then I could ride out this year in hopes that he would decline. Thanks for the help

I agree, the Red Sox are one of the few teams in the league that have the young talent to pull off a trade like that (even though it can't happen IRL unless the NTC is waived).

Moncada + Benintendi + Devers + another prospect for Stanton or the phone is getting hung up, and that's just a start. I mean, its either that or Mookie Betts.

Trading for a big name player should hurt. Trading for a superstar like Stanton should be so miserable that you don't want to do it.

Do you guys have any ideas of decent relivers who could be had on the relative cheap? I haven't started my franchise yet (waiting for the Hybrid with equipment) and I always play 30 team control with real life injuries so I am looking to replace Carson Smith's role because as I've witnessed up in this area they need relief help big time. I saw the Jason Grilli trade the other day and was looking for someone similar to that in terms of known production but not a steep price

It's not much, but after the owner came out and ripped the team (and Shields individually) it's about right. They sent around 30 million to the White Sox as well.

I'll admit when I heard the Padres were eating money, I thought it was going to cost the Sox a little bit more than Johnson + Tatis 2. Oh well, he's not pitching well and the Padres were desperate to get him out of town.
