Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

How about Freeman and Teheran for Werth, Zimmerman, and a B or far from majors league A potential pitching prospect?

The Nats would open up space to play in free agency this summer (or resign Strasburg) as well as getting an entire rotation of pitchers under contract next year, in case they want to chase someone other than Strasburg - maybe an outfielder?

You could then flip Werth to the Angels? or Royals? for a C prospect. Zimmerman has a loooooong contract. I don't have a clue who would want to deal with it - maybe the Yankees would take him in exchange for Ackley if Zimmerman is playing well and looks to be able to try his hand as a DH/1B/3B/Corner Outfield utility guy.

Then flip Ackley to a team looking for INF/OF utility guy for cheap - the Marlins? again for a C prospect or two even, since they're the Marlins...

So in the end you'd have:
    Teheran
    Freeman
    for
    A pot pitching prospect
    C prospect
    C prospect
    C prospect

None of the other players have any value above being half year rentals. Markakis and Grilli are playing well - maybe a C prospect each?

That's a lot of moving parts. No way the Braves do that. That's selling awfully low on Teheran and Freeman.

I think the Braves are sort of reluctant to trade Freeman IRL. I'm not sure if it's because they haven't got an offer they like, or they really want to keep him. He's young and has a lot of team control (although that contract really ramps up near the end). If I remember correctly, the Astros were talking with them about a Freeman trade not too long ago but nothing came of it.

PIT could absolutely use Freeman, and I don't think it would be crazy wanting a package based around Glasnow. You could probably pull Glasnow + Josh Bell since he'd be blocked by Freeman.

Ya my biggest problem was coming up with a realistic scenario. I don't see one so I figured I would just do a fair one instead.

Only way I could see it is if maybe you traded Tulo to a team buying and with a need of a SS for prospects and then flipped those prospects to the Reds. That would also be if you had a SS to play when Tulo is dealt.

              Back with another OSFM question...

How would the Nats acquire either Strickland or O'Day for relief help? I would like to pair either of these two RHPs with Rivera as my 8th inning guy(s).

Would be willing to give up a couple of prospects to make it happen.

I'm hoping this gets a little more attention that previous Nats trade ideas from this year (and years past). Seems as though a couple teams get a lot of opinions....but several others don't. Counting on you guys to help me out. :-)

I like Edwin strictly as a dh. I honestly hate smoak and I use collabello as a sub not an every day. But on the other hand I like goins a lot and Barney and travis so I'd rather have votto and 2 guys I like than tulo and guys I don't so much. But I also didn't want to stack my team by keeping tulo and adding votto in an unrealistic way so I figured I'd swap similarly skilled players.

I'm intrigued by your idea of flipping tulo for young guys than flipping to the reds to make it more realistic. Any ideas who might give some prospects for tulo?

As a Nats fan, I would like this. Not sure it is realistic at all.

That I'm not sure about. Likely any team viewed as a contender with a need at SS.

What kind of value does Trevor Bauer have right now? I'd be interested in acquiring him as the Yankees.

How much would it take to get Phil Hughes on the Red Sox? Been using him in DD and have thrown really well. I haven't been able to land any top of the rotation pitchers and now looking for a solid #2/3 to stabilize the rotation behind Price and Rodriguez. Currently a week before the trade deadline and the Twins are in last place looking to sell

His value has dipped significantly with the move to the bullpen. He's definitely movable.

The Indians need some outfield help and the Yankees have plenty of outfielders. I could see a fit there.

Shouldn't take much more than someone like Trey Ball or Mauricio Dubon. Depends on how well Hughes is pitching, really.

That works for me. Hughes is at a 3.5 era while striking out 7 per nine and not allowing many walks

If KC has the cap room to take Tulo in your franchise, that's as good of a place as any need-wise. Escobar could slide to 2B with Tulo playing SS. I'd suggest the Pirates but I have my doubts that they'd be a little reluctant to help a division team complete a 3-team deal, you know?

That's at least some kind of base for the deal. Look at what the Reds system really needs (my guess is everything). TOR/CIN could take a bad contract or something and more pieces could move. Your preference, really.
