Now for the sake of the argument. If, for example, Schwarber was having a sub-par year and Soler had taken most of the playing time in left, then I think it might be possible for them to move Schwarber for a Chris Archer at the deadline. But in all likelyhood I think that's a long shot. Epstein and Co. love Schwarber, almost as much as Rizzo and KB.

So ultimately, I guess it depends on what's happening in your franchise.

Great info. Definitely underestimated Schwarber's value. Soler would just be in another crowded outfield so I'll have to look for a catcher elsewhere.

He will figure it out, the man is only 22. I don't think you could trade for him in franchise until he is 25 at least, and isn't producing like he should. I have heard people say he becomes a beast in the game.

 What's up guys. I love the thread and always follow your thoughts on trades. I'm starting my O's franchise today with the new OSFM 2.5 rosters. I'm a huge O's fan, but not a big Chris Davis or Matt Weiters fan, so I'm looking to trade them in my first season and do some rebuilding. I think I will wait until the trade deadline to get the best deal, but what kind of package do you think that I should look for in return.

I think both players would get a nice return package, but I don't want to feel like I ripped off the computer. In the last franchise I started with OSFM 2.0 I got Arcia and Jorge Lopez for Weiters and Giolito and Victor Robles for Davis at the deadline, but didn't feel good about it. What is your opinion on what I should expect in return for these two? Thanks in advance.

To start, the Weiters trade is an insane rip off. 3 Months of a 29 year old catcher that already had Tommy John is not remotely worth the 4th best prospect in baseball (Arcia) plus Lopez who is ranked 54th on MLB.com. Another factor you will deal with is that teams rarely if ever trade a starting catcher midseason. To add to that, the Brewers wouldn't be in a position to add expensive veterans since they are in the beginning stages of their rebuild. Maybe look at a team like the Rangers for a landing spot for Weiters.

Chris Davis is more valuable, but he just signed a long term deal with the O's so its very unrealistic that he would be traded plus Davis has a limited no trade clause. If the Nationals wanted him that bad, they would have just paid him in free agency what the O's did instead of trading away the #1 prospect in baseball (Giolito) plus Robles who is ranked #60 in MLB.com. Robles isn't really the issue here, its trying to get the best prospect in baseball for a guy who was just a free agent, and every team could have signed him if they wanted. The Nationals already have to find a way to pay Harper in the near future, and adding $23 million a year in payroll for Davis wouldn't make that any easier.

Thanks for the feedback. I felt the same way and that's why I stopped that franchise. One thing you mentioned that I didn't factor in was the contract for Davis, but you're right that I should have. Maybe the better thing to do would be to trade Weiters at the beginning of the season for a smaller package and keep Davis for now.

Problem with that is the Qualifying Offer for Weiters. The MLB would see that as a "sign-and-trade" which isn't allowed.

Doing an astros chise, 8-4 currently but 3B has been a glaring hole as Valbuena is only hitting .143. What are some 3B that i could realistically go after?

Also who would be interested in Valbuena?

I'm starting up a Mets franchise, wondering what the opinion is on a Votto trade.
Mets get: Votto
Reds get: Duda,Dominic Smith and mid level high C/B level prospect

Mets upgrade at first as they are in more of a win now mode
Reds get a replacement at 1b for the short term or if they choose to extend Duda on an offordable 1-2 yr deal, as well as their future 1b in Smith, and I would throw in another decent prospect due to Votto's skill.

The main part is Reds dump his contract as they are rebuilding and aquire a future high end first basemen

I am looking to unload Gerrardo Parra in my Rockies franchise. Problem is that I have no idea what kind of prospects I can get for him. I figure his value isnt all that great so I was thinking some high c potential guys.

I was also hoping to maybe get a lesser platoon guy to play against righties if possible. I hit very well with Ryan Raburn so thats why I'm thinking of shopping Parra.

Any ideas who I can get for him?

You're starting with those young pitchers like Matz and then another guy like Dom Smith.

I don't think you need that much time. He's at 187 PA of awfulness right now. Like, absolute awfulness. I think when that gets to 6-700 of badness he'll become available.

Thing is though his defense and run tools are so high he doesn't have to be a strong hitter to be an MLB regular. He didn't have a K issue in the minors so I don't know what's going on with him.

Yea he is a rich mans JBJ, RIGHT NOW, in my opinion. He can definitely improve and probably will.

I'm sure he can be a regular but I don't think he's untouchable right now.

Well like, in terms of realism he is. But in terms of fairness, I'd move him myself.
