Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

Looking to re-tool the Jays and since they (likely) won't be re-signing Bautista and Encarnacion in real life I was hoping for some suggestions on teams that would be interested in them (hoping to move Dickey as well). Would ideally like a young MLB ready player coming back in deals.

Off the top of my head (not sure if these are realistic enough, hence why I'm asking for help) would Gallo be available for Bautista now that Beltre is locked in for a few more years?

Would Houston move McCullers for Encarnacion+Hutchison/Floyd/Chavez? Or Or something like McCullers+low prospect for Edwin+Dickey+Thole?

Would the Mets be interested in either Edwin or Jose for Wheeler? What about the Cardinals for Wacha? Bradley from Arizona? Re-acquire Norris from Detroit for Bautista? Skaggs/Heaney from the Angels? Walker from Seattle?

Lots of ideas I know, but any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Not at all. I don't think either one of those guys brings back a young MLB ready player. And definitely none of those you are talking about.

Obviously, at the deadline I'm going to be looking at Archer, Carrasco or Quintana. Additionally Stratsburg as a rental. Obviously it's not worth discussing at this juncture, but I want to add a another fireballer to the backend of my rotation. Probably in the first month or 2 of the season.

Was just wondering what Arquimedes Caminero from the Pirates would cost? Figure he'll be cheap, but one of the hardest throwers in the game.

Quintana is one of the most underrated pitchers in the game, left-handed, locked up on a very friendly deal for then 4 next+ years. He would cost a lot.

I was going to sit back and see what common opinion develops on this but Bautista and Edwin are like $50 million assets, how do they not bring back a young MLB ready player?

After thinking a little a more to me it would depend on their stats. But we can at least agree he is not getting any of those guys he mentioned right?

McCullers would be possible if he included Hutchison but that'd be weird and unrealistic imo. Wacha isn't very good so like, I think he probably could, but I wouldn't do that. Same with Bradley. we already have Aaron Sanchez anyway. Skaggs and Heaney are mediocre enough to work (Tropeano!), but no ****ing way on Walker.

Only two of the guys he listed are any good imo, McCullers and Walker, and neither are happening. Oh I just saw Norris, yeah that'd be unrealistic, fair though (Bautista = Price last trade deadline you could say).

I want to see what everyone else says about players Bau/Edwin could bring, I don't want to influence the discussion yet. I'm very interested in this. I'll chime in once a few people have given their thoughts.

Yea I could see McCullers but the rest no chance for realism. And I'm even iffy on McCullers because the Stros are set at DH/1B and both corner OF spots. And on Wacha he was good a couple of years ago and then wasn't he injured for most of last year?

I was a little vague on my last post with Strasburg and Trea Turner. Ive found a few targets and wanted to know if their would be a fair way to get them for Strasburg or a package including strasburg. Iglesias from Det, Simmons from LA, Profar from Texas or Mateo from New York. If I pull that off what caliber of a starting pitcher am I looking at for Trea Turner to replace Strasburg in the rotation?

Trading Taijuan Walker to the Rays for Matt Moore and Kevin Keirmeier. Who else do I need to give up from the Mariners to make this a fair deal?

What's Profar's status in your franchise? If he's healthy and playing then I'm sure the Brewers would have interest. Profar + someone like Luke Jackson could work.

How do you feel about Bundy? I'm trying to think about O's prospects but there's not a whole lot to work with. Bundy's out of minor league options, right?

Thinking about trading for Ross or Cashner as the Astros. Not a fan of Fiers in the game; I can't seem to pitch with him.

What would one (or both) of the players require in return? Willing to move almost anybody (No AJ Reed, no Tyler White, reluctant on Bregman but will).

He's has been backing up 2B, 3B and SS on the major league level. Not sure of other moves that could make the trade happen. Obviously I could make it work, but I don't want to cheat the cpu too much. They were willing to do it straight up for Profar

I don't see why E5 or Bautista would be treated any different than your upper end hired gun. Think last year's Cueto deal or Price deal. I don't think 3 months of 1 should net someone like Gallo, but it should be able to get a pretty solid haul. Probably a top 50ish prospect as the healiner. Now if they were both in the deal then we're talking insane value. Getting both of those guys for the playoff push would be able to bring back a top-10ish prospect as a healiner in my opinion. You just don't get the chance to bring in multiple impact righty bats near the deadline.

I'll weigh in a little bit as a Ranger fan who is playing a Brewers franchise. I don't see how Profar fits for the Brewers, thus I don't think it's a good deal for the Brewers. Gennett is more than serviceable at 2nd and Arcia, their #1 prospect, is a SS. The Brewers don't need Profar as much as they need pitching, a permanent 1B and a permanent 3B. While it could be an overpay for the Rangers to get Lucroy, I think the Brewers demand either Mazara, Gallo or Brinson. All three are prospects that Texas isn't looking to give up.

I am doing a Rockies franchise and I was looking to trade Charlie Blackmon to the Astros for Jake Marisnick.
I was wondering what else I'd need to give the Astros to get this trade done.
