Get control pitchers. Decent (60-70's or better) BB/9 and Control is definitely a quality of life improvement for Classic. If I doubted that before, these Rockies are proving it in spades, especially if your control/consistency sliders are lower than default. The difference WILL show up. I have a team rated like a bunch of young arms who need to refine their command and they play like it.

Otherwise, pitch to areas, not to specific on the edge. The game seems a bit more "forgiving" if your pitcher messes up if you aren't right on the edges of the zone with your aim point. You may be more likely to miss out of the zone as well, so more walks/chases.

Also, don't follow the arrows as gospel in terms of how much movement you'll get. I think they show the max movement, but you might not get that much. I try to assume I'll get about half the movement, aim accordingly and in a good spot so that if I get it all, then the pitch is moving to a good location, but if I don't, I'm still less likely to hang it middle of the zone.

Beyond that, since I don't have to concentrate on the interface, I can concentrate more on thinking baseball and like a pitcher/catcher (I liken Classic as being the catcher more than the pitcher. You call for a pitch and a general spot and the pitcher has to get it there and you have little control over if he does).

It would make sense. Even with OSFM, unless you know all the prospects around baseball...and even then, potential is opinion as much as anything else. I might be high on a guy, OSFM makers might not be and give him a C when I'm thinking B. So it pays to check anyway, and, yeah it would be nice if Pot was shown.

        Great thread.

I plan on doing my draft finally tonight. Last year I rolled with the tribe but this year I'm looking for an NL team to change things up.....might be D-Backs.

I will post my results and/or my final team video here as well.

Any specific plan for your draft? Pitcher or hitter first round?

Doing a Red Sox draft. Got 12th overall in round one, so picking at 12 and 19.

Don't know how it's turning out. I'll probably make a trade (I allow myself either one blockbuster or two smaller trades if I want in before spring games start to simulate "2015 offseason") to get a big bat - that I can see I'm missing already.

I can see I'll have a fast outfield at least, which is nice for Fenway from CF to Pesky's Pole.

Highlight from The Cardinals extra inning win over the Pirates. Bryce pummels a first pitch strike (using the power swing) to put away the Buc's and spoil opening day for them.

Depends on what pick I get....i usually like an ace...but if I get a top pick I will be taking Harper.

I try to build a team of younger players for the most part. You have to be able to adjust your strategy as the players you wanted get plucked right in front of you.

I'm a sucker for young pitching though.

Used OSFM v2 and saw some differences.

Edit: Picked up Mark Trumbo in a trade. Team is set for Opening Day.

                  Rotation:
                  1) Chris Sale

                  3) Brandon Finnegan
                  4) Julio Urias (would trade him for the right bat)
                  5) Alex Reyes (has real SP stamina in OSFM v2)

@kb - I really like the team, looks solid!

Also, I traded Michael Taylor for Michael Bourn. Brought back the former astro, and got a little speed on the bench.

Decided not to play game 1 tonight. Just not in the mood. Tomorrow gents tomorrow

Francisco Lindor continued his hot start with a single.....then apparently has broken his arm sliding into second base. X-Rays are pending. But this may be a huge early season loss for Matheny's Cardinals. Details to follow. 18 year old rookie sensation Jacob Herzberg has subbed in and has an opportunity here to make his mark as well. The game is streaming live on Twitch

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

It has been over a century since a World Series was won by the Chicago Cubs. That thought alone provoked the strategy of "Win Now", while also considering winning the future. The mockery is over, ladies and gentlemen. The Cubs are here. To stay.

Joe Maddon and Theo Epstein went into The War Room looking for a mix of L/R bats, a quick lead off guy, solid fielding, and a good power core. Pitching wise, aim young, but get a savvy veteran that has been there, done that. Most importantly: YOU CAN NOT BE A WILD PITCHER. At the end of the day, here is what your new 2016 Cubs looked like.

                        Line Up:
                        1) Carlos Gomez CF
                        2) Fransisco Linor SS
                        3) Nolan Arenado 3B
                        4) Albert Pujols 1B
                        5) Jorge Soler LF
                        6) Nomar Mazara RF
                        7) Welington Castillo C
                        8) Pitcher
                        9) Brock Holt 2B

A solid line up indeed. After looking it over for a few nights, one thing stood out to good ol Joe: We needed more lefty bats, preferably at the middle of the lineup. Joe looked at Theo, and told him straight up: Pujols has got to go, along with a few prospects. We need a stud at 1B, we need to sacrifice a little bit of our future to think about NOW. Theo knew exactly what Joe wanted.

NEXT DAY: Breaking: The Cubs have traded Albert Pujols, and 2 Minor League TOP 50 Prospects for former Cub, Anthony Rizzo!

Huge news. Rizzo slides into the 3/4 hole, and the line up is set.

                        What about pitching?

                        1) Michael Pineda
                        2) Aaron Nola
                        3) Steven Matz
                        4) R.A. Dickey
                        5) Luis Severino

All five guys can throw consistent strikes, don't lose their cool, and all are young if you remove R.A. from the mix. With Berrios traded for Rizzo, we need Dickey to perform well this year. With Chapman, Uehara and Rondon manning the bullpen, the team looks ready to take on the world.

                        Go. Cubs. Go

                            Game 1 of 162: Cubs (0-0) @ Angels (0-0)

Final Score: Cubs 4 Angels 2

Recap: Pineda pitched fantastically, the 2 runs given up were generally due to my mistakes in the field. Went 8 innings, then Rondon came in and struck out the side for the save. We jumped on Cliff Lee early, executing a solid strategy of taking until they through a strike. The fourth inning is where we did all the damage, scoring all four runs on consecutive walks and hits by the entire lineup.

Players of the Game: Pineda (8 IP, 5H, 6 So, 1 BB) & Nolan Arenado (2 for 4, RBI, R)

After a league wide dust up, involving a draft of all organizational players, the season is ready to begin. The Astros were able to retain a few of there players during the draft, most notably Carlos Correa, Lance McCullers and Ken Giles. During spring training, former Astros Jed Lowrie and Michael Bourn were brought in in trades, fortifying the starting 9 and the bench. In addition, Texans Noah Snydergaurd and Brock Holt will give the Space City fans something extra to cheer about. Spring has come and gone, and opening night at Yankee stadium is here.

                              GAME 1/2016

Noah Snydergaurd took the mound against Masahiro Tanaka on opening day. Snydergaurd did not disappoint, pitching 7 innings of 5 hit ball, and striking out 7. One run was scored, after a fielding error by right fielder Trayce Thompson in the first. Thompson made up for his miscue with an rbi single, and throwing out a runner at home to end the 5th. After Jed Lowrie being hit by a pitch to lead off the 6th, Nick Hundley deposited a home run to left field for a 3-1 lead. Hunter Strickland allowed a HR in the 8th, and Ken Giles earned the save in the 9th striking out 2 of the batters he faced.

FINAL SCORE Hou 3 NYY 2

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Ok guys I went with the San Diego Padres...it was close between them and the Miami Marlins but I just like SD's jerseys for all occasions more.

So I am using OSFM V2.5. Classic Pitching. Auto-Fielding but I do the throws...with no throw meter.

Now on to the draft............drumroll......we get to select................27th overall.....ugh oh no.....well that is the card we are dealt.

Here is the team I end up with at the MLB level as I did select all 90 rounds.

                                Starting Rotation
                                1. Chris Archer
                                2. Noah Syndergaard
                                3. James Shields
                                4. Tyler Skaggs (L)
                                5. Tyler Glasnow

                                Line Up
                                1. Byron Buxton - CF
                                2. Devon Travis - 2B
                                3. Freddie Freeman - 1B
                                4. Kris Bryant - 3B
                                5. Yasiel Puig - RF
                                6. Jorge Soler - LF
                                7. Travis d'Arnaud - C
                                8. Adeiny Hechavarria - SS

                                Bullpen
                                1. Zach McAllister - LRP

                                3. Corey Knebel - RP
                                4. Chad Qualls - RP
                                5. Javier Lopez (L) - RP
                                6. Fernando Rodney - SU
                                7. Kevin Siegrist (L) - SU
                                8. Jason Grilli - CP

                                Bench
                                1. A.J. Pierzynski - C
                                2. Mike Aviles - 2B

                                Prospect/Notables in Minors
                                1. Kendall Graveman - SP
                                2. Carson Fulmer - SP
                                3. Jorge Polanco - SS
                                4. Dansby Swanson - SS

I like my rotation a lot and I don't mind my line-up but I am RH batter heavy so I will be looking to move either Puig or Soler for a LH OF.

My bully is just ok. If i can get a better closer and drop everyone down one in their role the pen would be decent.

                                Bench...pretty weak overall.

So what is the best way to set-up the 40-man roster....i turned injuries off and simmed to the last day of Spring Training. Do i sim the game and then set the 40-man after?
