Chris Davis to the D-Backs really makes that team scary. Jake Arrieta / Sonny Gray / Brian McCann / Chris Davis / Ben Zobrist / Luis Valbuena / Kevin Pillar & Jay Bruce. Looks like they dont plan on missing the post season again!
LOL Yankees trying to get stacked! Good thing they are in the other league.

Davis does look like it will make their lineup go. And with Zobrist around, there's still depth since he could move pretty much anywhere.

My biggest concern is the division got stronger, and I do not forsee Strasburg winning 31 Games (Regular Season & Post Season) combined. What happened last year with him was down right historic, as he won the MVP & Cy Young.

Hamilton provides better defense than Bautista did, while affording Marisnick the opportunity to play more often (Marisnick gained 5 points in overall last season).

A.J. Reed is going to have to keep up his play from the post-season, where he wasn't spectacular, but he was leaps and bounds better than he performed in the regular season.

The bullpen looks like it may be stronger than it was last year!

Hoping Dansby & Fulmer don't experience a Sophomore slump.

        Offensive Woes

The Red's dropped the home opener 0-1 to the Padres. A true pitchers dual saw Stephen Strasburg pitch 8 Innings, allowing 5 hits and striking out 10. His counter part, Matt Harvey, pitched 7.1 Innings with 5 hits 2 walks and 3 strike outs.

A.J. Pollock had an opportunity in the bottom of the 8th with the bases loaded and 1 out...Pollock hit a soft one in front of home plate, Posey stepped on home & threw out Pollock.

Liam Hendriks gave up a solo home run to Mookie Betts in the 9th, and that would be the ball game as the Reds were unable to score on Ryan Madson in the 9th.

Another loss...Liam Hendriks gave it up again in a tie game. At least the Reds were able to score some runs (4-5 final).

Liam Hendriks has been sent down to AAA. Chris Withrow has been called up to take his roster spot.

            Three In A Row

The Big Red Machine may have to go into the shop. A World Series hang-over? Early Season Jitters? No one knows for sure, which leads us to three questions:

            1) Is it early? Yes
            2) Were the Padres a playoff team? Yes
            3) Are the fans ok with this? NO!!

Phones have been running off the hook today, as the only thing the callers have in common are the fact that they are complaining. Here are some of the common complaints:
"We win the World Series, and the GM hires a new coach?"
"I hear there is close to 40 million dollars worth of budget available, WHY?!?!"
"Can Strasburg please pitch every game?"

The Red's held an impromptu press conference during a day off before the Rangers come to town. GM Joe Smith & Manager Dave Roberts gave us there take:
            GM Joe SMITH-
"I said it during the All-Star Break last year, I said it during the Off Season, and I will say it again. There is a plan in place to keep this franchise competitive, and we are not going to stray from that plan 3 games into the season. And to those that say 'Were going to stop watching unless a move is made'...Go ahead, I'm sure you weren't watching until October anyway".

            Manager Dave Roberts-
"I understand the frustration. I'm one of the 'new guys' in the clubhouse. There's been a lot of change since last October, guys need to adjust and not press. Good thing is Kinsler, Swanson & Pollock are hitting, and things will break our way sooner than later.

              Return Of Reds Baseball

The Reds picked up there first victory of the season in a 3-1 victory against the Rangers, who came into the game undefeated on the young season.

Michael Fulmer pitched 7 innings of 5 hit ball, striking out 6 with 1 walk.
Luke Hochevar (1H) & Greg Holland (1S) pitched an inning a piece, allowing no hits and both striking out a pair.

DANSBY SWANSON is shaping up to be the face of the franchise. Swanson went 3-4 knocking in all 3 runners for the Reds. Over the first four games, Swanson is hitting .437 with 5rbi & 10sb. Since being moved to the 2 hole late last season, Swanson has really found himself!

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

This is my favorite thread and one that I check every time I log in to OS.

Doing a franchise with the Mariners, playing every game. 36-36...streaky team.

Had an injury run in OF in both MLB and AAA so I was short. I signed Ichiro to a 1 year deal. I didn't want to sign the couple of guys on FA market, but this was necessary. Ichiro gets a few hits during his first series against Detroit.

First game of homestand against the Cardinals, I decide to DH Mookie Betts and start Ichiro in RF just as "A Return to Seattle".

I'm leading 2-1 heading into the 9th. Cody Allen comes on for the save and promptly serves up a home run to Ian Desmond.

Bottom of the 9th, Ichiro is leading off against Cards' closer Brad Boxberger. First pitch...gone. Walkoff for Ichiro. Cool cutscene with Ichiro celebrating as he rounds the bases to his teammates waiting at home plate.

Just one of those cool Show moments.

The Red's Are On A Roll (7 In A Row)

Since opening the season losing three in a row at home, the Red's have flat out refused to lose.

Michael Fulmer got the winning streak going, is now 2-0 1.29 era with 15k's over 14IP to go along with a 0.79 Whip.

Since being called up for Liam Hendriks, Chris Withrow has been lights out. In 6 appearances over 7 Innings, Withrow has a win, 2 holds, 5k's to go along with a 0.29 whip.

Justin Turner & Josh Hamilton are struggling mightily at the plate.

New manager Dave Roberts has instituted a "Run-Run-Run" game plan, which has paid off offensively. The top 3 in the league in stolen bases all belong to the Reds. Dansby Swanson (13), Ian Kinsler (11) and Jake Marisnick (8). The constant running as lead to the manufacturing of runs on a team that desperately needs to (The Reds are dead last in the majors with only 3 HR). The only downside of the running game, is occasionally giving up an out or a double play.

Manager Dave Roberts: "It seems as though we have established an itendity. If you get on base, run. If our pitching can get into the 6th inning with a lead, 9 times out of 10 we're gonna win"

The Red Sox are still clinging to a 2-game lead after squandering away the 3rd game of a 4-game set with the Tigers.

The Sox got out to a 6-0 lead after two rare Shin-soo Choo errors, both for 3 bases and costing a total of three runs.

However, Taijuan Walker squandered that advantage as he kept giving the Tigers hope. Through six innings, the game was tied at 6.

The Boston bats continued to do nothing, showing that they probably wouldn't even been in the game sans the errors. The six runs scored on just five hits and they would muster just six in total.

Tazawa gave up the lead in the 8th on a HR by Ian Desmond. That would make the score 7-6, which is how it would end.

Questions about Walker being distracted over his contract situation resurfaced after the poor showing. They were kept silent after a good start, but this outing will raise the doubts all over again.

                          TRADE ALERT

The Red's struck an early season deal with the Red Sox.

The Red's sent 2016 Draftee 3B Ray Nash (69 ovr / D pot) , RP Liam Hendriks (76 ovr / C pot) & SP David Buchanan (67 ovr / D pot) to the Red Sox in return for RF Gabriel Guerrero (65 ovr / B pot) & RP Chris O'Grady (56 ovr / D pot).

The motivation for the trade was fairly simple and has followed the Red's transaction strategy over the past year and a half. Nash, while producing at the plate, was never viewed favorably by the Red's brass - and was thought of as a DH type player. Hendriks, and his salary, were deemed expendable after his poor start to the season and Chris Withrow's dominance. Buchanan was a throw in.

The return is interesting...RF Gabriel Guerrero (Not related to Vlad) is a R/R 23 year old with a cannon of an Arm. Scouts believe he is best suited for LF or RF. He will be working on his hitting down in AA.

Lefty Chris O'Grady has 3 pitches; 4 Seam, Cutter, Change - and throws from 94-83. The 26 year old will spend time in AA as depth.

Corresponding Move- Utility Man Taylor Motter was called up from AAA to take Nash's place on the roster. His versatility and speed should continue to play well in the majors.

                          Trade Denied
The Athletics are said to have called the Reds in an attempt to swing a deal. The rumors are that the A's were looking to acquire SP Logan Verret in exchange for LF Robbie Grossman.

                                Newcomb News

Sources say scouts from multiple teams have been spotted at games in which the Reds top prospect is pitching in. GM Joe Smith has all but declared Newcomb untouchable.

With no lefties in the Reds Rotation, it would not be a shock to see Newcomb get the call to the bigs sooner than later. This may very well be the reason the scouts have been watching him pitch.

Strasburg and Fulmer are certainly not going anywhere, and Logan Verrett has quickly became a fan favorite. That leads to the speculation that Free agents to be Chris Tillman & Tom Koehler are the most likely candidates to be moved, if & when a move is made.
