Sox Sweep Yankees
Boston Rises from Third Place
Bourn caught dead on failed squeeze. Zunino: U mad, bro?
The Red Sox completed the sweep of the Yankees with the third game the most dramatic.
The Red Sox offense was held to just four hits the whole game. The team scratched out two runs. One game on an Alex Guerrero home run to left field and the other on a Bonifacio sacrifice fly.
Walker was equally good. He allowed a home run to Dexter Fowler and that was it other than some scattered singles.
The game remained 2-1 for the 9th and Familia was brought in. Chapman was ready as well, but Farrell wouldn't turn to him. That almost cost the lead.
With 1 out, the Yankees got runners on first and third. Bourn had been in to pinch run when he was at first and now sat on third with the tying run.
The Yankees put the squeeze on with Maybin pinch hitting, but the first attempt went foul, made certain by Piscotty swatting the ball away.
Zunino thought they might try it again and called for a sinker in the dirt. Familia delivered and the Yankees did try it again. Bourn was hung out to dry and could only throw up his hands in disgust.
However, this is Familia we are talking about. With the tying run now at second with two outs, Familia threw another sinker but Maybin blooped it into right field. Buxton came on hard but couldn't get there. Colon, also brought in to pinch run, tried to score. Buxton came up firing and made a perfect throw to get the out at the plate to end the game.
Buxton's play was the second assist by the outfield. Earlier, Guerrero cut down Carlos Gonzalez trying to take a double on a ball hit to left. Guerrero played it well off the base of the Monster and got the throw in to second to get his man.
The streaky play from the Sox has continued so far this year. Prior to the sweep, the Sox were in third place at 8-7. Now they have a one-game lead in the division at 11-7. The loss was the Yankees' 9th in 10 games.

Full flashback Roster eta: 3 hours
*due to the large amount of generic prospects, there will be multiples of certain players. (Generic ones) I have been trying my best to make so that atleast you as the user, if you do a full draft can basically not draft any duplicate players. Worse comes to worse, you can always edit a name and face if it's that bothersome.
While I am doing this part / editing ratings / upping contract values....if anyone would like to upload a CAP of Grady Siezmore, Kris Benson, Bobby Crosby (ss a's) and Ian Kinsler that would be much appreciated! In fact if there's anyone you'd like to see in the roster and want to make a cap for them, let me know and I'll dl it when your done and add it inMLB The Show 20

Tonight.....Mid Season report for The Matheny Manifesto including an All-Star game recap as well. The game was a great one BTW. Thrilling finish.
The Red Birds also made some moves in the pitching staff that turned a few heads (send downs and call ups not trades). And I am sure the trade activity will pick up ten fold in July around the league. Now Playing on PS5:

The Matheny Manifesto Mid-Season Report
The St Louis Cardinals have reached the All-Star break and sit atop the NL Central (52-36) 6.5 games in front of the Cubs and 7.0 games in front of both the Bucks and Reds. It has been a great first half but not without it's challenges in regards to injuries. However the teams depth has shined in the absence of players like Francisco Lindor, Ender Inciarte and Maikel Franco. Pitching has been very strong for the most part. However Steven Matz an Kevin Quakenbush were both sent down to AAA to smooth out their mechanics. Matt started strong but has really struggled the last 4 outings to the point of him being replaced in the rotation by Daniel Norris (for now). Matt has lights out stuff but needs to get out of his funk. The hope is a few minor league starts can get him back on track. Meanwhile Kevin Quakenbush has struggled all year. 29 year old Josh Edgin and 25 year old J.T Charges have been called up from the farm and will be in relief.

ROSTER IS UP
Search for "Flashback Fantasy" under the roster vault. It's a fantasy roster...not perfect but if you're in your 20's-40's you'll enjoy it.
(Unfortunately the non flashback guys are just generics I imported from the base roster. That way you don't see guys with no names. Some are worth editing names / appearances if you draft the whole thing) I put some top 50's and A & Bs in there. Think it will end up being good for long term play.

Just got the roster - some hard choices.
I picked the 18-year-old Nomo (will probably edit to 26), and the Ichiro, and then The Kid.
Was hard not to take Glavine, one of my favorite pitchers as a kid. And Mo Vaughn. Especially since I'm playing as Colorado. Big Mo in Coors...
This will be interesting. Got 11th overall pick."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
One month in to the season and my Padres are sitting at a lackluster 12-13. Could be worse, we're still only 2 games out of first in the NL West.
I've managed to avoid major injury, but had a few minor ones. Bats are mostly cold and the bullpen has been up and down, but it is getting better and we've won 7 of our last 11 games.
Here's a quick snapshot statistically how we are doing.
We made one minor transaction sending utility man Alexi Amarista to the Kansas City Royals for Catching prospect Michael Song. Song already is a plus defender and has plus power at 18 years old, but is also very raw as a hitter, and has durability issues. Daniel Descalso was called up from AAA to take Amarista's spot on the big league roster.

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Familia Out After Another Blown Lead
Hector Neris Up, Herrera Given Closer Role
Apparently, the Red Sox have seen enough of Familia for the time being. They have optioned the streaky closer to Pawtucket where he can "clear his head and get right", as Farrel put it.
Replacing Familia on the roster will be Hector Neris. His primary traits are good movement and solid command, at least on paper. After all, those were supposed to be good points about Familia.
Moving back in the bullpen will be Kelvin Herrera. His stat line last year wasn't exactly pristine, but it depends on whether you like to use his ERA, BB, K, etc, or the FIP model. Both told a different story on Herrera.
Familia will be closer at Pawtucket as the Sox hope for a turnaround and a breakthrough.
Familia has given up 8 runs in 8 1/3 innings of work. His ERA would be (even more) nasty if not for unearned runs. As it is, 5.40 is bad enough. His FIP agrees, checking in at 7.92.
