    Guys I've noticed this also.

I downloaded Armor and Sword sliders and in the past 2 games there has been a total of 3 HR hit! Def recommend!

        Re: Too many HR's?

I want a sim baseball experience as well, but I clearly disagree with the prevailing thought about how to achieve that.

Offense is clearly up, but I believe it to be a good thing. For me personally and what I've seen in online streams over the last couple years, most individuals mastery of hitting far exceeds their mastery of pitching. Pitching has been so overpowered in this game that mastery of the art or input mechanisms hasn't been remotely necessary for success. Hitting on the other hand has required significant effort/practice/reps to be competitive.

If you can find them, look at archived streams from some of the top performers in this game. You'll see they tend to be very precise and consistent with the PCI, but have had nowhere near the same precision with pitching. This hitting/pitching discrepancy is further evidenced with the number of threads popping up on this forum over the years inquiring into help with hitting.

I'm hoping the offense isn't patched/changed and individuals are forced to level up their pitching skills. Bad pitching should not beat good hitting, but it has been for at least the last couple years.

I've given up my share of HR's this year, but I can't say a single one wasn't a result of my botching the input mechanism or making a bad pitch/location choice.

Will have to try something. Second game, same settings (just testing what I've always played on) and four more home runs, two CPU, two me. Twelve in 2 spring training games.

I'll give the sliders a try.

Can you start contributing to this thread or find somewhere else on the board to be passive aggressive?

4 franchise games in & playing 100% with A&S sliders except with power down 1 notch to 3 for both user and CPU and cpu timing up 1 notch the games playing very well, but 11 HR's hit so far. 6 user, 5 CPU. Obviously higher than the league average by more than double, but the sample size is limited. Having great games, so I'm inclined to keep it right here power wise and start keeping an eye on pitcher consistency. The meat balls seem to be the main culprit.

You can always put me on ignore.. Someone adding stories to the thread that are clearly made up is not helping track down the issue. I'm the least of your worries. Move on. Also it's curious his account was created literally a few days ago, around release time, no? We've all seen this movie before.

I put pitch consistency up one and pitch accuracy up one last night. Played one game, 3 HR's combined by both teams. None were no doubters. I hit one up and out of the strike zone with Kole Calhoun.

I actually agree with you. The only problem is for offline users, it's the CPU leaving the meatballs in the zone and they are getting crushed more often than not. So the solution seems to be sliders. I believe the power slider at 3 is the first start, and then focus on adjusting the consistency slider to help the CPU locate better consistently. This could be the reason the CPU is bi-polar at times, dominant or derby.

There, I admit it. lol I've become a decent pitcher (good enough to succeed on HOF before this year) but I've always had to grind for runs, even on Veteran. When I did manage to make decent contact in past years my reward was usually a slap hit to the opposite field, and that was with the pitch speed slider turned a couple clicks to the left. I'd done relatively well with my beefed up RTTS 2B but even then my HR's had almost all barely left the yard and most went opposite field.

This year, and I've played somewhere between 10-20 full games now, I've been a hitting beast on Veteran without adjusting pitch speed. I feel comfortable looking to pull and am regularly having multi-HR games with players not known for big power. I hit a 595 foot HR off Jon Lester with Brandon Belt. Both of my other at-bats against Lester with Belt in that game were also HR's. By contrast, I had Lester in my RTTS division last year and was awful against him. It would be flattering to believe that I've become a much better hitter since last year but that simply isn't the case.

I have since moved up to All-Star but only have two games to look to for data. My first game was something like 9-8 and all but one or two of those runs came off HR's. Second game was a pitcher's duel between Sale and King Felix and it felt a lot like playing '16 and earlier years. I did have one game out of 10+ like that on Veteran so I can't be sure it's not an anomaly yet.

There's no doubt in my mind that the game provides larger rewards this year for anything from decent to great contact, probably due at least in part to the new ball physics. I'm actually really happy to see this as I've always felt that hitting was unrealistically arbitrary when it came to rewarding user skill. I don't think a huge nerfing of hitting is necessary, just a general reduction in HR distance and a slight shift towards more line drives staying in the park. Perhaps a change in how elevation and wind are factored into air resistance could do the trick.

Finally, I'm a big fan of using sliders to make a game more enjoyable. I do prefer however that sliders only be necessary to make a game easier rather than more realistic. It's good to keep a development team honest by asking that they provide the best simulation possible. If people can't handle some aspects of that, like myself in years past, we're free to cheat a little to make the game less frustrating. You better believe that if they do nerf power to the point where I struggle and end up hitting nothing but singles that I'll be looking to adjust what I can to compensate for that. It's been far too fun hitting this year to revert back to my old grinding. lol
I think part of the reason for improved hitting is, the much more stable and fluid framerate, particularly if you're on a PS4 pro. The improved framerate makes it much easier to track the ball.

Also I believe there are more meatball pitches particularly from the CPU thus far. Sliders imo can help with that.

A lot of good points being made around here. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. My only real hope is that eventually everyone can be happy and enjoy this game. Whatever happens as far as patches go, I know I'll be in good hands with guys like Armor providing sliders for me.

Yes clown! It happened. The #8 hitter for the braves hit one out of dodger stadium with kershaw pitching and I was the dodgers. Why is this so hard for you to comprehend? Must be because I just joined the forums... Other guys I've read claim to hit 560ft HRs go troll them

Ok, quick update. Just played a franchise game, Angels @ A's with me controlling the Angels. All-Star Hitting, All-Star Pitching.

Slider adjustments: (Number of Clicks from Default)
                            Pitcher Consistency +1
                            Pitcher Control +1
                            Solid Hits -1
                            Wind -3

                            Final Score 2-1 A's.
                            Hits A's 5, Angels 4
Homeruns 1. Mike Trout hit a line drive 395 foot home run to left on a hanging breaking ball.

It's only one game so take it with a grain of salt. I'm starting to buy in to the notion that wind speed has more effect than orginally thought, but it's still early. CPU pitchers leaving the ball over the heart of the plate too frequently is imo, the other issue.

I'm kind of noticing this too. I'm averaging probably 4-5 homeruns total (me and CPU combined) per game. I hit 3 homeruns in one game with JOHN JASO earlier today. Default sliders, hall of fame difficulty. I'll be tweaking the sliders for sure.
