Re: 18 news?
Maybe it's me but I'm expecting to be blown away for 2018. The past two years have felt underwhelming, especially last year, and I believe without a doubt that the dev team is going to make it right.
Given the feedback last year, I really think they input a TON of focus surrounding franchise mode. There was brief signs of it the past couple of years with chemistry and more stats involved...I hope that maybe they got a sponsorship with Fangraphs or something to where franchise has much more immersion and makes the user spend more time being a GM than playing the game! OOTP built a great formula, I think SCEA needs to steal a bit of it.
Maybe it will be new player models, maybe even create a stadium...that would be add-ons but I truly think franchise mode will be completely changed and make 2018 a must buy.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

I think you’re being way too ambitious lol. I’m quite positive they won’t be paying Fangraphs or vice versa. And I still doubt franchise will be a focus. The money is in DD and RTTS.
They made it sound pretty clear that stadium creator won’t be in any time remotely soon.
I personally expect some minor tweaks to franchise, improvements to the ball physics, and a heavy emphasis on DD and RTTS. I sincerely hope they fix some of the issues with middle infielders and their inability to run down grounders up the middle, the base runners who dive into 3rd on plays they should be rounding on and scoring (ever notice the amount of players who dive into third on line drives in the gaps or balls up the middle? Happens so frequently for me, and ruins my rallies or run production), catchers dropping the ball frequently, wild pitches on basically anything in the dirt, CPU baserunners seemingly automatically taking a base when a ball is dropped (catcher alwaysssss seems to throw it to the wrong side of the bag or the throw is lazy) regardless of their speed, the seemingly automatic contact made on hit and run plays by the CPU (it seems like it’s either always a foul or a successful hit), also seems like there are a lot of times where a CPU runner who is too slow rounds third when they shouldn’t and the throw Home is offline like 75% of the time (it really feels like the game compensated for the CPU’s bad decision making sometimes). I dunno. I liked 17, but these things I’m mentioning really hampered it for me. No MLB The Show game in the past has ever made me even remotely consider the possibility of it being scripted in some way until this one. Every game always had something stupid happen. Sometimes it benefitted me, but not often. Maybe I’m just paranoid because of Madden/FIFA/NHL/NBA2K (less so) and their ‘momentum’ shifts (aka, scripting). But man, I seriously cannot remember a single moment in previous Shows where I ever sat there and remotely flirted with a single fleeting thought that it was scripted. This year just felt... Off. Different.Last edited by GoDucks1224; 12-14-2017, 02:46 AM.Comment

With '17 I felt that the devs took a big swing trying to knock it out of the park and just hooked it foul. For me, there was a lot to like about '17, but it just needed a little more "tuning". I fully expect them to polish what they added this year and also take another big swing at '18, and this time I'm thinking its coming in the way of franchise mode.
Obviously this is all speculation and anticipation, and no one, outside of SDS, knows exactly what's in store for '18, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited and anxious to see what's in store and to get my hands on '18.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I agree as I have the same expectations as you do in terms of '18.

Re: 18 news?
All speculation, but, based on history I'm not expecting much. If they add some new mode, a new "selling point", then I expect the same old historical problems with the game. This game is beyond the point where it should be running smooth as silk ( game play wise). The carry over franchise was great, but you're going to lose a ton of players when you start your next season (and not talking about the retirees). Can't this be addressed?
I love the game, but love it scratching my head sometimes.
I've been doing carryover saves since it was introduced and I've never lost, anywhere near what I would consider a ton. Maybe 20 is the most??? And as I've stated previously, it doesn't take that long to re-add the players that do disappear because the only thing that changes is their name. I just go back in, edit their name and move on. Takes 10-15 minutes tops.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: 18 news?
You keep bringing up the idea of losing a "ton" of players when doing carryover saves, but I don't have that problem, unless you and I have a different idea on how many is a "ton". How many players do you lose per carryover save? Maybe being at different years within the franchise causes one to lose more than others???

to not see problems. I keep bringing it up? What this is twice I’ve said it? Maybe you should think more about how you respond to people who adress some of their concerns other than you don’t have a problem with it. Gets old. I already said I love the game.Comment

I asked how many players you're losing per season. I even mentioned that we could be seeing the same amount just have a different idea of what a constitutes a "ton". I even mentioned that it could be because we advance to different stages of franchise in the current installment that it causes us to see things differently.
So instead of answering those questions so that we can accurately discuss the issue, you choose to label me essentially as a fanboy and avoid having a discussion about the issue?
I guess we know where you stand.Last edited by countryboy; 12-14-2017, 03:11 PM.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

The "fan boy" statement by you is fairly close though.Comment

Re: 18 news?
Dude, calm down, lol. You confirmed what I said, but weren't happy with my innocent use of the word "ton". How about "a lot". I don't like jumping thru hoops (changing names, changing faces, etc) and was asking if there was a fix (not from you though). Twenty, in my book, is too many. For you.....no.
Nothing to do with not being happy, but trying to understand your broad stroke in describing your issue.
And you and I have a different idea on the quantity of a ton. For me, spending 15-20 minutes to add back in players lost in the carryover is worth it given that it allows me to continue a franchise that I've invested heavily in. Different strokes for different folks.
The "fan boy" statement by you is fairly close though.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Evidence 17's issues and CB moving back to Show 16.
anyways, onward and upward: regarding news, I see its confirmed retro will be back for 18.

I know countryboy usually loves the Show (as do I) but there's no way he could be classified a ''fanboy'' or a even a ''homer'.
