    Re: 18 news?

I play retro mode quite a bit.

Sent from my iPhone using Operation Sports
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I don't believe Retro Mode takes that many resources with the game nor do I believe they're spending a lot of time on it with updates so I wouldn't worry a thing about it being in next year's game...it's simply like a different visual setting on your TV - good for those that want it, no issue for those that don't.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

        Re: 18 news?

Oh it’s this time of the year I get all hyped about the game I’ll play from release to mid-may. I really need to find a way to stay hooked longer. Why does hype gets so high that I take a day off on release and still don’t play more afterwards?

Here’s the idea on how to cure me :

        1. Release the game earlier and add relevant preseason stuffs (within DD, franchise and RTTS). This way I’d be farther into the game by may, maybe that’d do it)

        2. Find a way (no idea how) to shorten games even more while keeping presentation and relevant stats. Maybe in franchise I could select the 4-5 players I always want to control and let CPU care about at bat not involving them. Or, let me choose what aspect of the game I want to make compromise on.. Like reducing foul balls and balls taken. (Maybe that last part already exist, can’t remember all the sliders)

        3. Add a simplified way to control baserunning. I always end up In auto since I make stupid mistakes 50% of the time when I control them.

        4. Make DD solo more dynamic, like Madden. I seriously can’t keep up with all the challenges they add all season (being a father of 2 doesn’t help here)

        5. About DD... Find a way to even up the game between those who got time to play and those who don’t. I can’t grind the game like crazy, I can play like at most 3-5 games a week. Still, I should be able to get cool rewards and special cards. How about, let’s say, having 4 tier for the same card. I.E: to get Randy Johnson or another legend, get 100k to get him at 94ov, 200k for 95ov, 300k for 97ov and 500k for 99ov. (Numbers are off, please stick to concept here)

I know it’s not suggestion or feature thread, I might as well copy my post there... but I felt it belonged here too.

Anyone have a clue on how to cure me? (Except a divorce lol.. that would really do the trick I guess)

I played every edition from 2008-2016, but I boycotted last year's version since all I care about is single player, offline franchise and they did zilch. I'm still checking back here from time to time to see if they've done anything for 2018 or not. If they haven't, I may sadly be done with the game, which is not what I want because I've been playing video game baseball for more than 30 years.

Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

I feel exactly the same way. I keep checking back to see if they have announced anything, but I’ve bought and barely played the game the last two years. The single player franchise has been largely untouched for awhile. There is just little reason to keep purchasing it every year, when it seems like the most resources go into segments of the game I don’t ever play. Here’s hoping for a big franchise update, but I doubt it. The one option, for me, that I need to see added to get me interested is the ability to import newly created SCEA players from roster updates into an ongoing franchise. That’d make the purchase a done deal for me alone.

Could not agree more on the player imports into franchise. I'm with you on never having played other segments in the game. It would also be nice to be able to use this years rosters with next years game. If they could work that in.... Got to be a way to do this.

I think that screen is NES Baseball though. Can't go wrong either way.

LOL, I don't think thats a shot of RBI baseball, but that game itself was huge back in the day. I spent countless afternoons playing it vs my neighbors in the late 80s. I actually became a fan of real MLB based partly on playing that title.

And it was a huge step up from baseball on the Atari when I was even younger!

I don't think that franchise mode started for me until Ken Griffey Baseball on the SNES though. I remember going through my preseason magazine editing all of the players to match their real life counterparts (ala NCAA football) because the game didn't have the MLBPA liscense. Took hours, but worth it for a teenager with nothing else to do!

Interesting that we are getting news later this year then normal. In the past we would get small news but some news in like mid late December. This year it looks like we are getting zero news in till Jan.

I'm hoping that means there is a big graphical jump this year and they don't want to show it off until it's presentable, which is usually pretty late in the cycle.

A bit worrisome in not going to lie. This has not been a good indication in the case of other sports titles.
