    The first two are both indoors. Why are they not the same? Is there only one way that the outdoors is lit?

    Color is a reflection of light. It is highly depended on the light source and the objects around it.

      I mean, that screenshot is from mostly clear sunny day. Shouldn't that be when the color is most vivid? It looks duller than in the image in the dome.

        That plus the work they did to improve on last year's ball spin were major improvements. New animations, throwing motions, tagging etc is also an improvement. Dynamic weather is an interesting addition.

        For the people concerned about uniform colors I wonder if they have considered lighting. If you watch a game in the show on a partly cloudy day you will see the shade of not just uniforms but also the grass and dirt change sometimes from one at bat to the next as lighting changes due to clouds. Comparing a screen shot from a real game to a screen shot in the show doesn't tell us what the lighting difference was.

        I suspect what people are seeing in uniforms is simply the impact of lighting changes upon the colors.

        Bottom line they have done a lot of work to improve on last year's game and I'm looking forward to the show 18.

          In no way, shape, or form should bright red look MAROON, no matter the "light source."

            Are you referring to the unfinished, WIP shot from 17 which does not have necessarily the same lighting as your comparison image?

              I'm okay with people giving their constructive criticism or being upset with something left out. But I prefer to take the more positive approach and zone in on what I love that the team has added thus far.

              Here is my list: (In no specific order)

              * SOTS- different music for all three themes
              * Improved minor league parks
              * New hairstyles (Mainly dreads, this pleases me)
              * Face guards
              * Bleachers and specfic stadium areas IE, Chop House
              * Improved hitting (Major emphasize on this area)
              * Having the little picture of each player before you download him from the vault.
              * Greatly improved catchers and their reactions
              * Lots of new uniforms, including the Expos! (Mind you, many are correct about the colours still)
              * Seems to be many new face scans. (Correa, Altuve and Harper all look so much better)
              * So many new animations (And i like that they added the dancing in the bullpen)
              * Skin tones in create a player, vastly improved.
              * Batting stance creator
              * Fog and dynamic weather (Plus rain delays)
              * Improved tag system
              * Pitcher fielding urgency (I am surprised this hasn't been talked about more)
              * Updated score bugs (MLB Network one looks great)
              * Really sharp looking menus
              * Custom practice (Could be more useful than some think)
              * Smarter crowds (Leaving during blow-outs, Dodger fans arriving late due to traffic)
              * Postion has be returned on batter walk-up instead of L/R
              * Fingers moving on the bat while waiting for the pitch.

              Anyways, those are just some off the top of my head. Really excited about this years game. Please, just don't neglect Franchise mode.

                Bryce Harper has been updated. Nice! It was the little things stream. It was the right amount. Leaving us to find ourselves and something to talk as we play MLBTS 18.

                  I think it's cool, but I also kind of like the way ESPN Major League Baseball had it where it was more so just called "Situation Mode," where you could also set the inning and it was in-game (crowd and all).

                  I always would set up a "bottom of the ninth, two outs, bases loaded, down by three runs" and have my Barry Bonds CAP (since he was out of the MLBPA for the first time that year) up with the game's first-person mode, and continually recreating it until I would hit that grand slam into McCovey Cove haha. Good times.

                  But yes, practice mode is nice because I want to be able to play with different option types on the fly and not feel like it is affecting the outcome of a game. Not to mention, I can just keep repeating the same scenario over and over. I probably won't use it often, but it also wouldn't hurt.

                  Now is it just me, or did this game used to have a BP session option before games? Maybe it's something that I just made up in my head, where you are batting with music in the background before all of the fans have arrived. Maybe it's an RttS feature only, I have no idea. I always thought that would be a cool thing, especially if the time of day was right and more fans kept progressively arriving, you have players in the field and the backstop arched around you, wearing your cap and such. Would seem kind of pointless after a while, but I always appreciated the thought. Maybe you could even play an infielder/outfielder from the Player Lock view and get hit balls from the player at-bat. Basically, just call the whole set "pregame."

                    I understand what point you are trying to make. Lighting does play a role in how colors pop. However, I am an Angels fan. I’ve watched at least 100 games a year for the past several seasons. I have seen them play in nearly every situation imaginable (time of day, indoors/outdoors, sunny/cloudy, etc) and the red never looks as dull as it does in the game. The Angels red alternate jersey is very vibrant in real life. Even in the darkest moments, the red still stands out. I don’t even use the Angels in franchise anymore, because I know that I can’t use the alternate jersey (which they wear in 1/2 of their games) even on the brightest of days.

                    Obviously you know a lot more about colors and implementing them than I do. I am by no means an “expert” and I’m not trying to discredit you in any way. But I think the lighting argument loses a lot of it’s validity when I can take a screenshot of a 1 PM game, in the same lighting, using the same broadcast camera at Angel Stadium, and still point out a noticeable difference in the colors.

                    By the way, the Nats red looked really nice. I’m not sure how much lighting had to do with it, but I thought that was a huge step forward.

                      Great points!

                      And all the reds in the uniform selection screen should look similar (where the stream was showing the uniforms), since there isnt a stadium lighting or anything... Its simply just selecting the uniform.

                      And it isnt just the red colors... Like the Cubs blue alternate is too dark, Giants orange alternate is way to dull, etc.

                        I think the devs points in the past about lighting is fair in the context of it being more than a straight color issue, but I also think material quality/appearance may be a factor in making the colors not match up to reality.

                        On an April 1pm game in MLB 17, the Sox red is bright and pretty closely matches the pic of Mookie that woodweaver posted (I just checked). However, a quick look in the jersey selection screen and the red is washed out and darker (compare it to the bright socks and undershirt). That is the red we seem to get the most variants of in all but the brightest "natural" light. So, overcast, partly cloudy and the artifical lighting at night all looks off IMO.

                        The trouble (I think) is the material of the solid color jerseys have an almost rubbery quality that looks flat and washed out in darker lights and certain shadows. I'm wondering if the focus on jerseys and applying PBR will help that, as that is supposed to specifically address material quality/accuracy.

                          I want to state I'm really excited about the direction this year. I am hoping once we get to Franchise Mode we'll see some actual improvements and upgrades. I think we will based on everything I'm seeing so far. This team keeps earning my business. And I really enjoy their live streams because they all come across as a group that is having fun working on this game.

                            I compiled images of the red uniforms from yesterday's stream. Obviously these are not 100% accurate due to compression, etc. But it is all we have right now to work with.

                            It looks like the Red Sox red has been adjusted, as well as the Nationals' red. I can't comment about the accuracy of them, but they do look improved.

                            I still feel like the Angels' red is still should be more vibrant. They seem about the same as last year, and like MCville27 said, the vibrancy we see on in person and on TV just isn't coming through in game.

                            The Toronto Canada Day uniforms still seem too dark.

                            I'm not going to even attempt to post real life comparison shots, because there is no way to recreate the lighting in the uniform select screen, but I just wanted to post this as a reference as this is the most recent images of the red jerseys we have to work with.

                              I get the great color debate. I have had times where I thought something looked off and it bothered me as well. I also get the uniforms will look different in game depending on time of day/time of year. But I see nothing wrong with folks pointing their color issues out, especially now while the game is incomplete.

                              I believe pointing these things out only helps the devs get things closer to where the fans want them. For me at the moment I don't see a huge difference, but I will never tell a fellow fan of the Show that it isn't important if they find it to be. We all have our own different issues with the game.
