Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
There you have it folks. Everything that can be said, needs to be said, is gonna be said in four simple words posted by Armor... THAT'S WHAT KIDS PLAY... repeat.. THAT'S WHAT KIDS... KIDS, KIDS, KIDS, KIDS play.
The days of adult thinking, strategy, statistics, sim type games are gone. It's all about KIDS.. Money is spent by KIDS. They don't want to think, They want action, they don't care about statistics, long involved series, They want 900 feet home runs, they want 100 to 75 point Football scores. They don't want to be bored with realism. That's not fun. They want to play for 15 minutes and move on to the next game.
This is a new day and age, Old players like myself are considered relics. We don't need to think or strategize any more. We just need to react and have quick hands and thumbs. About all we have left is Chess or Golf for people like myself.
Those of you that believe that Franchise is going to be improved over the next few years or put back OL. I wish you the best of luck. I have seen franchise diminish with promises to get better every year.. And then all of the sudden, they are cut out at the last minute. Look at Madden.. Same story every year. But it never happens. Just remember Armors words. THAT'S WHAT KIDS PLAY. And in today's world. That's what video games are all about.. KIDS and money spent by kids.
also chess takes too long, better make that checkers. and if it's not putt-putt golf then it's really just a walk in the woods spoiled.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
I preordered the game with intentions of doing an Online and Offline chise. Very disappointed that this wasn't said as early as possible.
So now I have to decide if I want to do RTTS, or DD alongside my offline chise. Will we be able to play quick games online at least?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
I am 100% certain you can play head to head 9 inning games online (ranked or between friends).
Plus DD games with friends is a blast (when the servers work properly and hopefully this year they got it right).

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
There is a lot of “I got my mode” going on here too. if OF franchise isn’t your thing why comment at all? To troll??
It’s frustrating that They (SDS) commented the whole mode out of the code. it’s probably still there just not available for selection from the menus. I’m not buying the “Kids”, spin. They have. Zero purchasing power., as kids. Just saying.
This decision is from the top. The actual code space occupied by OF was being grabbed by other modes’ expansion efforts. It’s obvious. The shady practice of not telling us early is what REALLY needs to be addressed, because they played our mob mentality to their advantage through preorders. It was not a last minute decision. That decision came months ago, maybe last year. That’s an atrocious breach of trust. If they cut DD or your favorite mode in any game, or your ability to create sliders or roster tweaks, without notice you’d be just as upset, and those are only features, not a whole game mode that brought small and large groups of people together for a common goal. They essentially did not give us the fair choice., by purposely hiding details of the MLB product despite repeatedly being asked a straight yes or no question from fans with real purchasing power. Speak with your wallet and it will return, just like the rush to buy stubs made DD a constant.. The kids have to ask for money we don’t.
I see them charging for the mode separately down the line, almost supported like DLC, just like other after market cash grabs, that’s IF it even returns. That glass is Half empty and leaking my dudes. They feel they are LOSING money if your not playing the intended money making mode. This is how the “competition” is removed, and the code space redistributed.
The same thing happened in 2k. there needs to be a percentage of our time dedicated for after market cash grabs now to justify the release. Now the approach is how much DLC can we sell slog with it. OF brings no addition money, unless it returns as DLC.
Who have thought Madden CC would be the only franchise mode standing when the DLC wars were settled. EA has a baseball opportunity here., as Cc is very popular.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^Kids have plenty purchasing power. Maybe not in your household as well as some others but it does exist. There are a ****tonne of things I would have never bought if my son hadnt wanted it.
And that code space wasnt grabbed by any other modes. SDS spent valuable time on an online alpha testing servers and time ran out to get OF finished. SDS loses money by not having an OF mode because you have to pay to play. The reason I quit online franchise was I didn't want to pay for it. If money was all that mattered they would have stuck it in 18 even with the flaws it would have had and promised patches to fix it. They made a hard & tough decision not to include OF in 18 but it is the right decision.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
If that was true about the game being for Kids, for one the Adults have to buy the game for them and 2 it is actually kids that play Online more, because it is their generation 'online play' so 12 year olds can play against stranger 12 year olds'
most of us oldies play offline.,Comment

Might just be me but when I refer to kids I'm usually talking about 22/23 and under not 12 and under. Most teenagers and young adults have their own money to spend.

for me Kids = about age 4-12.. teenagers are 12 to 19.. then Adults after that. I guess teenagers could be refereed to as kids
