So, ignoring my general feelings about what I knew didn't make it and focusing on the stream, here's what I really like:
-The "phases" menus are clean and engaging. As a whole, phases are actually a nicer change than I expected...while some seems a bit oversimplified, it does a lot for organization of certain information overall.
-Unrelated to franchise, specifically, but the generated faces look absolutely fantastic overall.
-The fixes to various trade logic bugs.
-The changes to retirement logic (looked like the most promising fix overall IMO).
-I like the separation and breakdown of contract status.
-Small change, but I appreciate them moving the 40 man column on the roster page so you don't have to scroll.
Some changes I like in theory, but am less sure about in practice:
- RP logic sounds good, but I need to see how often changes take place before declaring it a win. With what is, IMO, over-dramatized hot/cold streaks in franchise, I do worry about the potential for quick triggers...especially if it's evaluated after each series.
- The fixes for 5-9 in the lineup logic was too vague, so I'm unsure of the benefits. Any improvements are appreciated here though.
-Improved injury logic. I'm curious to see how well it works overall, but the bare minimum of the correct position player being reinserted upon return is definitely appreciated.
-Call-up/Send down logic. That's always tricky, so we'll see.
- I'm a bit worried about the minor league position depth changes, tbh. While I appreciate trying to balance AI rosters, I also would prefer taking guys already on the team and maybe swapping to a secondary or comparable position than trades, cuts, etc. to make it happen. That might be too big of an ask programming wise though. This is another "we'll see."
Overall, some potentially solid fixes. I'm still a bit underwhelmed overall, but I can see how the cleaner organization could make deeper additions in future iterations more palatable to less familiar players. Whether or not that actually happens is a discussion for another time though.
