Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode

It's minor (although at the same time not) and they still very much have time to fix it, but they still haven't updated players potential. At just over an hour in you see Neris has potential D, Cesar Hernandez has C and so does Eikhoff, all well below their current rating and the same as what they were 2 years ago(Neris was a 70, but presumably got downgraded over the course of their save to a D). They need to update these, as they never did last year and it led to some farcical potentials, so the players who in real life were progressing the most were doomed to regress instead in Franchise (Jose Ramirez being a 91 overall but with potential C possibly being the most obvious example, or Rivero being a C as well)

We can fix it ourselves in the editor, but really they should just take the hour or whatever it takes to got through and check that these potentials are in line with what they should be, otherwise it's just setting star players up to decline for no reason. It's an easy and quick fix that they could sort out with a day 1 roster update if need be

Thankfully i don't care much about franchise so the missing features dont bother me. Most likely until the gameplay and presentation changes, it is likely i will just play games here and there and then sell off the game like per usual because the game feels the same every year.

They did say rosters and ratings were not final, which is why Arrieta was not on the Phillies

Man you'd think the ratings would be final by now, the game is out in 8 days.

True I think the game is done, it's just the rosters that are not though probably the day 1 update. which might technically be on the 27th not 23rd, by then we can update it outselves

True, it's more that they didn't update the potentials last year that makes me think they might not have done it this year either.

I'd also imagine despite them saying they aren't final, they pretty much will be at this point as production will surely have started (although they can obviously still change them with a downloadable roster update)

They take in at least $60,000,000 a year with the game. If they're struggling financially with that much money coming in yearly, I don't think they'd be competent enough to even make the quality of game they make, so..

People don't need to see their books to know they come out on top every year. If they don't, they should focus on where they're wasting money.

What I'm trying to say is: If they wanted something done, it WILL get done. They have enough money to throw at it.

                      No, lol.

You have no idea how this works, and it is getting off topic anyhow.

It’s not enough, it’s a meh reaction in my view. Diamond Dynasty is their real push this year. They need to be careful their “E and A” are starting to show prominently in “SCEA”. Stop pushing Diamond Dynasty, it’s a nice distraction but you gained your customer base by realism and franchise mode.

They have had a few years to make some changes, real changes, expansion, create a stadium, adjustable numbers of teams, leagues etc in Franchise mode.

                        It isn’t enough

Another thing I love is the All star voting screen, rather then just show the top 3 votes they actually have a depth chart of who is leading the votes for the year I love that nice touch

I'm not sure how I feel about franchise this year.

The new interface is cool, sure. I like it. They discussed certain improvements to logic, like closer logic and lineup logic. I like those things too. I would be more excited if they spent most of their time improving logic, but what I'm gathering after watching the stream is the majority of time was spent on designing their new interface.

I saw glaring things like Stanton going on the trade block. Nolan Arenado was also on the block. i.e. theoretically untouchable players in real life being shopped. Jose Altuve left Houston in free agency too.

I believe anything can happen in baseball, but these are a bit strange. We also didn't hear anything about player progression improvements. The whole stream was just phases. The whole thing.

Creating stadiums in franchise would have been cool, and whatever other new thing folks wanted, but I would rather the nitty-gritty, under the hood stuff gets improved. And I haven't seen much of anything that suggests it has, to any substantial degree.

                              Hoping I'm wrong.

The phases implementation actually looks great, especially for players that were unsure of the complicated roster rules of baseball. But I am disappointed in how lackluster the stream was overall. The AI changes sound nice but I've been tricked before on AI improvements so I'll wait for the full game to judge those.

Biggest complaint from me though is how bad those menus look for free agency and the resigning phase. A Polaroid picture with some crude lettering? It looks really lame. I also wish that there still was a screen that had all my players needing new contracts on it. I liked being able to see everyone at a specific position that needed a contract in one place, regardless of arbitration or contract renewal or qualifying offer. It really helped with judging where to put my money and who to let go. Oh well, maybe in the game there will be a menu like that for me in the off-season.
