Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
Loved the improved red color on every team except the Phillies. The difference was very noticeable when they'd switch from the Phillies to the Reds Angels and Nationals early in the stream.
Loved phases way more than I thought I would though I kept thinking phases itself might not have been the right term to use. The entire section is a phase but the tasks in each phase aren't a phase... maybe tasks would have been a better word for it? It felt like having an assistant or a secretary at my side reminding me what I needed to do each day at my job.
Loved the new daily game matchup screen with the large player models taking up all that space, looked great instead of having a little box in the corner and nothing else. Makes the daily game seem more important.
Anyone wanna ponder a guess to how those Phillies won 100 games?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
So new menus and a bunch of handholding are supposed to get people excited? Oh, and the improved trade logic that puts superstar guys on the block? This was worse than my already low expectations after the disaster that RTTS has become. Try again next year, I guess.
EDIT: Also, the new menu with the stupid photos for free agency is atrocious. You can only see 6 guys at a time. They are clearly aiming this more toward small children with the new cartoonish looks.Last edited by Beelzebot44; 03-15-2018, 10:26 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
I found phases to be a nice streamlining feature that will definitely help a more casual player, like myself, that struggles with all the intricacies of the non-gameplay aspects of The Show. That being said, after watching the stream, I am concerned about the logic/AI surrounding trades, Free Agents, and contract offers. Overall, after skipping 17, I think I'm leaning toward purchasing 18.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
Last year very little changed in franchise from MLB 16 to MLB 17. The stream on MLB 17 was basically showcasing how they brought features to the, "limelight." And how they were making everyone aware of features they may not know about. This is like a re-run.
Still no innovation. I had no expectations for franchise and I expected it to be exactly the same as last year. So I'm not disappointed. But I do wish that some real love would be spent on franchise. It's so blatantly obvious that the focus is on Diamond Dynasty. I could not possibly care less about Legends.Comment

I was just thinking today about looking forward to seeing the impressions thread next week. I know a lot of us in here wanted to see more from franchise this year, but I think we are getting another solid game from SCEA this go around. While a lot of us aren’t getting the features or advancements that we preferred or hoped for, I believe next week will be more positive and less doom & gloom on here once we are reading through the early impressions thread.
It’s been a rough few weeks reading through these forums leading up to release but I think the majority here will be enjoying this yearly tradition around this time next weekend. I know I’m ready to get my hands on it.Comment

I could care less about franchise because I'm an RTTS & DD guy but what they showed on the stream may just get me to play it this year. I really like the new look.
To me, franchise looks very in depth. I don't understand what more they can add besides relocation & build your own franchise/stadium. Is that what people want? I'm genuinely asking. I remember they had it where you can set prices for tickets & hot dogs, is that what people want?"In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened." - Vin Scully

I think most people want more customization. You hit it with the relocation and stadium statement. People also want realistic contracts, rotating inter-league scheduling, more advanced forms of trading and realistic AI trading. Think OOTP style of GM abilities.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
I just want new features. Scouting and developing is SUCH a huge part of baseball, I wish there was more focus on that...ways to develop diamonds in the rough.
Stat tracking and sabermetrics is ingrained in baseball too. I want see a guys line of AVG/OBP/OPS, see a pitcher's WHIP, LD% or k/BB ratio...what about projected WAR versus these letter grades of potential?
I'm just...it strikes me that they're fine tuning franchise essentially and not expanding it. I'm one guy and I have so many ideas that is just....well, baseball.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
