After this season Altuve will have played 7 years in the majors and would be eligible for free agency. The two years of team options are from a contract he signed years ago that covered both his arbitration years and with options for his first 2 years of free agency.

Not sure why they would do that knowing how many people are sticklers for good AI trade and FA logic.

Well the logic does in my opinion look the same. I saw a lot of the usual Pitcher heavy trading. They may have loosened up trading though just for the stream to show trades I hope.

I thought the weirdest trade was the Jose Ramirez for Whit Merrifield straight swap. That's just weird on multiple levels. Then they went and traded Ramirez again the very same day.

ughh...injured players traded was added a couple years ago. Luis actually thought it was ok if hum initiated and I agreed.

Really curious why they added bat weights when we'll never see them.

Really sucks we gotta wait 8 more days to see if Nike catchers equipment was added... But I have a bad feeling we didnt get it.

I just finish watching the stream. I am very critical of them sometimes and was a little disappointed that they didn't add much to the franchise mode this year that we players wanted but I have to give them credit and admit that what they done to the front end to make it more accessible to manage is refreshing and was badly needed. IMO. I like what I see! The player models are much much better too.

These guys did a lot of work cleaning-up stuff. I am sure that what they did was not an easy task and probably took lots of time to do and test. You have to remember that these guys have to work with what they currently have, old legacy codes and there is only so much they can do I guess. I was impressed. The Philly fan guy was good in explaining what was new and seem to care and was honest about how past years design was not very user friendly to work with and had many errors that needed fixing.

It's pretty clear to me that this years focus was just to get the franchise mode warmed up and ready for the real overhaul next year.

To be fair, that's what we thought last year but even so, why do we need an entire year to get franchise mode warmed up for an overhaul? Just get it done. I had thought the past 3 years they had been working on it.

Last year during the streams, I remember how Ramone was when people were asking about franchise and I was so sure they were going to put it some serious changes/additions to it this year, that alot of us were blown away at how little was actually done.

I mean especially when they had delayed the franchise blog write-up for two days. I was like THIS IS OUR YEAR!

Nope. It's pretty disappointing man.

Yep. Marlin fans thought he would be theirs for life. This is fantasy baseball. We either accept that someone like Arrenado could go on the trade block, or not play out of protest.

No fix for when my starting pitcher gets injured and I bring in a reliever who is COLD...they should be warm given they are allowed as many warm up pitches as needed in real life.

I guess technically this would be a game play issue, but I have not seen anything regarding the AI base running being improved. Has anyone else?

They are warm. It is a visual bug on the warm/cold meter.

They simmed right through the playoff eligibility date; I'm assuming they didn't mention anything about changes to this later (no reason to I guess). In 17 a player has to be on the 25 man active roster or the DL to be playoff eligible vs current MLB rules.

They mentioned being stoked about putting the 40-man roster status on the 1st page, but I actually think having the salary there was more important. Now you have to go digging to see how much they make and years left. Don't really see it as an improvement.

Not sure if you caught the 'gameplay' or 'presentation and commentary' stream but they have definitively improved the gameplay and other aspects of the game.

Thanks for the reply. I watched the gameplay stream and thought it was improved until I realized they had foul balls turned off. I didn't watch presentation and commentary because I always turn the sound down. I'll check it out.

Tiers in fielding with ss and 2b are an improvement. I'm concerned about the new tag system resulting in every close tag play being an out.

I was looking forward to a lot of gameplay in this stream and was surprised there was none. Apparently people had a lot more difficulty than I did in navigating last year's menus.
