      Dansby Swanson
      Aaron Blair

      Diamondbacks receive:
      Shelby Miller
      nobody relief pitcher.....

All the freaking time. I can list 50 horrific trades.....hell 20 alone from the 80's for the Yankees.

These are the things that will make franchise mode more......human. This is the feedback I give them all the time.

Not about build a stadium or owner modes. Let's make team building in franchise mode feel strategical and with a human touch.

Now if the crowd that yearns for expansion mode get's it. Cool. I will use it for sure. But know that that will be the only thing done as it is a huge undertaking in a sports game.

I rather right now see continued logic tuning, player personality, scouting and roster building tools and presentation worked on in earnest. That to me is the soul of franchise mode.

Building a dynasty and feeling like the league is living and breathing.

The new interface is a huge step in that direction. I am choosing to seeing the forest through the trees here on this "Phases" feature.

And if you think about it, "phases" are almost how MLB is covered IRL. We have the "Winter Meetings phase", the "open market phase" (which I think should last a little longer in the sense that players, especially marquee guys take time and often change minds based on what's going on...too often all decent talents are signed by December).

Then Spring Training is a "phase" to itself where we talk about kids and vets fighting for spots, getting invites, speculating on what those invites mean, etc.

After that is the pomp around Opening Day/Opening Week. Then the grind and prep up to the Draft that goes unnoticed by many of us outside the guts of MLB until Draft day and the results.

Then it's the Trading Deadline madness and speculations that dominate June and July - who's in, who's out, what will the surprises of the first half do, etc.

September comes and it's call ups and looking at what prospects have done, and what those cups of coffee might mean going forward.

          Then, Postseason "phase".

          And the cycle repeats.

So if the phases are done well they could be more than a flashing "hey, do this stuff now!" They could drive how the radio show acts, how a social media "feed" acts, how teams act (maybe no more need for manual trade slider adjustments) and what they do move and how the fear/greed psychology plays in with regards to playoffs and their fanbases.

Maybe not THIS year...but like A&S said before - the base is getting put in, the framework, the foundation and the walls. Hopefully, it means they are planning some nice furniture, a few big screen TVs for the man cave, and some nice floor tiles and paint on the feature going forward.

I was answering another poster in this thread who said that we were being nit picky. And yes I'm still buying the game. I'm going to play both The Show and OOTP and use OOTP for all the trades, and transactions. Then using 30 team control in the The Show to manually edit those events.

The Show for the gameplay and presentation.

            OOTP for the franchise portions.

            Best of both worlds.

I played madden cfm this year online and had the same opponents for 3 years straight . Opened the season against the saints every time ( I was the Vikings ) . Maddens scheduling is just as screwed as the Shows lol

Great thought but not going to be as accurate as you’re hoping I imagine.

You will have different records, different stats, especially in later seasons unless you plan on manually adding players which at that point would be a job and a half.

If you do figure something out I’m missing, for sure share. That’d be sick!

Mods.....it should be an insta-ban/timeout if Madden CFM and how they are trying harder ever get's compared to The Show's franchise mode ever again.

They could not even get the game playing properly till February of 2018 for us offline CFM "simulation mode" style players.

LMFAO. Sorry but I had to throw this in.

If you think The Show team is solely focused on DD.....try MUT on for size. The entire game is designed around that. Gameplay and all. They hold off on game tuning patches for us offline guys until after the Madden MUT championships and what not. It is a whole other world. I am glad this is a smaller team and a niche market. Because baseball is a niche. For better or for worse.

They make a wonderful simulation guys. Second to none. Only NBA 2K comes as close in gameplay quality IMO. And that forum is unreadable. Pure fodder and moaning and groaning every cycle guaranteed. And that game is freaking great too.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode

Regarding trade logic, the game has certainly gotten better over the years (I remember back in 09 or 10 where in one of my franchises, the Yankees were apparently on a mission to collect every SS in the league...including keeping a still high-performing Jeter), but I can certainly understand the concerns.

Trade logic will never be perfect (I use 30 team control for that reason) and what is "realistic" can certainly be muddied by plenty of real-world head-scratchers, but I think the issue most people have is more in the details of how and how much it happens over the simple fact that it happens at all.

It would be nice to one day have some more options to adjust frequency and logic for franchises, similar to NBA 2K, though obsessive people like me will probably still resort to controlling all teams (as I still do in 2K, despite such options existing).

Anyway, 30 team control is still a perfectly viable workaround if trade logic bothers anyone that much, though I do wish they'd reintroduce delayed trades to The Show, so I can be a proper commissioner and simply reject what I don't like.

I don't want the game to just decide "this player would never be traded" because...yeah...no one knows that. Also, how would this apply to fictionals? Why would it be more "logical" for a 97-rated fictional stud to be traded if the logic is applied only to real life avatars? I mean, I was 13 years into a franchise...that logic would have either fallen apart or felt overly forced.

But I'm the type of person that thinks "I wonder if anyone would have 'blessed' the Stanton trade that was made this offseason?" I'm guess most would have said it was "unrealistic".

To me if it makes sense within the Gane Universe its fine. Say if a team is rebuilding it should maybe dump older superstars. Altuve to Oakland would never happen though because of their finacial restrictions. Maybe add in Real life GM's and Owners with their own Logic?

Agree. But i may have to go back and watch the stream again but i never noticed them showing the League screen/tab, i also noticed that the league update tab shows standings instead of box scores now.
I hope there is still a screen that shows the box scores and that it has been expanded upon from previous years. I have been wanting/asking, for a few years now, for the box scores in league updates to show a bit more info, like the top 3 hitters from each team along with the w/l pitchers, injuries and milestones. I have always liked to scroll thru the box scores but have always felt like they never gave the full picture of what happened in a game.

To get trade logic even close to right they really have to actually give teams identities instead of essentially having them all be the same. Small market teams should be considered small market teams and use logic that makes sense to them, whereas giants like the Yankees and Dodgers should run on different logic. Until you make that differentiation, you'll always end up with teams like the A's signing Altuve and the teams like the Yankees looking to offload Stantons salary.

Something simple like a list of ratings for each team like "market size", "fan loyalty", "likelihood to re-sign players", "likelihood to sign big name free agents", "likelihood to rebuild". That sort of thing. Make the different teams actually unique, so they can then make more realistic decisions.

Wait, why are they showing season stats for a reliever in the "Player of the Game Spotlight"? Shouldn't it be the game stats for him because he got player of the game?
