Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode

Just got done reading this whole thread. The bottom line and reality is most of the posters here and the people complaining will STILL but the game. SDS knows this. Are you boycotting the game until a feature or features get added or fixed? Do you know anyone that won't play or buy the game until certain modes come back or interleague schedules rotate every year etc?

A lot of us have been asking for things for years now. Are we still playing MLB The Show 13 or 14 until they add the stuff we want? See my point? I have seen the MLB The Show 09 trailer discussed in this thread. Are you people still playing 09 and haven't bought any version of The Show since then? Complain here all you want. Repeat yourselves year after year. You are still going to buy 18 regardless. I have mentioned that I have no intention of pre-ordering or buying 18. After the server issues and other bugs that plagued 17, I needed 18 to address and fix a lot of the issues and overhaul franchise for me to purchase it. That hasn't happened.

I will rent the game probably but as of now, I am perfectly fine playing my 17 franchise and starting RTTS. I grinded just crazy to get Griffey in DD and if only cared about DD(they clearly spent the most time on this mode), I might be getting 18 but I care about more than just DD. Vote with your wallets. If you keep buying the game every year, what incentive does SDS have to actually put in and fix all the stuff you've been wanting or complaining about for years?????

I would go to statistics and go to the minor league page to see their current year stats.

The reason the dev had difficulty navigating and knowing which team he was on aka which division he was looking at was largely due to the positioning of their couch in the field of view, as it blocked the team logo in the bottom right corner. They had also shown another way, earlier in stream, to get to standings page, but it seemed like that simple way slipped their minds as they were doing too many things at once for the moment.

Must be zero earned runs. Inherited runners scored which lost the game but the inherited runners are charged to whichever pitcher allowed them. Morgan got tagged with the loss but not the runs.

It could be unearned runs. those count agaisnt W/L but don't affect ERA

For people wondering why Stanton is on the trade block - I strongly suspect it has to do with Stanton and Judge both having the same position. Notice position of need in the trading screen for each team. The game calculates things like years of service/ pending free agency and depth at a position.

The AI probably sees it as a surplus of RF with one being a little older and more expensive and therefore trading block.

I use strict self imposed trading restrictions which make it very difficult to get a guy like Stanton but that's likely the reason he is on the block. One thing the game doesn't do unless they changed it is factor durability. Unscrupulous user can trade away low durability players who will be useless to the cpu team for good return.

I'm not going to lie, I'm disappointed. I was hoping that they'd put some genuine effort into franchise mode this year. I'm not even sure that there's enough here for me to go ahead and purchase '18. I've never contemplated not buying the game before. One thing I absolutely expected them to build upon was the somewhat confusing revenue model they employed last season. I'd like to have seen them expand on that as well with features that were in versions of MLB on the PlayStation 2 such as promo days, broadcasting contracts and stadium advertising. That was just one of many things I wanted to see added...

Overall I'm disappointed by what I've seen and don't see any reason whatsoever to upgrade from '17.

                    Just my view.

Ok just payed for my copy and and I am ready to go. I think now is the time to start fresh both for franchise and RTTS, its time for those campaigns to end. On top of that, one of the most valuable lessons I have learned from last year.......

Once this game releases on the 23rd I am leaving these forums until at least the All Star break. It is time to just play the game for better or worse and turn off the noise and just have fun. No waiting on rosters, sliders, start overs, switching back and forth to last years game. Nope. Done with all of that. I am starting fresh on day one and just going to have some fun playing Baseball and getting on with things.

The bolded is incorrect. Inherited runs are charges to the pitcher that allowed them to reach, not the pitcher that was on the mound when they scored.

I'm wondering why The Show team didn't implement their budgeting and financial system in that same regard, so contracts could at least be close to real life and behave as such?
This is what I always advocated for. The contracts should at least be to scale. One year they tweaked it and the arbitration numbers were never touched, so now you get players earning more in some regards than free agents.

The contracts and financials need a huge overhaul. Rule 5, Waiver trades etc. have not been touched since it was first added. They need refinement and need to work correct to mlb rules.

Stat tracking is far behind. I think awards and records should be attached to player cards.

We should have the option to bring players to mlb roster sept 1 instead of having to wait to minor playoffs over.

Playoff eligibility needs to be addressed. The way it is currently if the player is not on mlb roster sept 1 they are not eligible instead of being on 40.

The idea of awards and championships on player cards is a great one. 2K does that and I absolutely love it. It shows how many AS games, championships, season awards, etc. along with the year it was accomplished.

This would be a feature I'd put near the top of my list. And hope the people that come up with ideas for the coming years would mention this. Immersion would go up exponentially if these things were on the players cards inside the mode.

                                I'll elaborate.

If you go to that point in the video it says 2-2 record, 0 runs, 0 earned runs. It can't be unearned runs because it says 0 runs and you are correct it can't be inherited runners because the loss would go to whoever allowed the runner(s). If it was unearned runs then runs would be at least 2 given 2 losses.

Must be an error in the way they calculate official scoring. My guess is it is inherited runners counting as a loss to the pitcher who inherited the runners instead of the pitcher who allowed them while runs count against the pitcher who allowed them. That isn't correct but it looks like how they have programmed it (incorrectly).

Someone should submit a bug report.
