Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
I'll elaborate.
If you go to that point in the video it says 2-2 record, 0 runs, 0 earned runs. It can't be unearned runs because it says 0 runs and you are correct it can't be inherited runners because the loss would go to whoever allowed the runner(s). If it was unearned runs then runs would be at least 2 given 2 losses.
Must be an error in the way they calculate official scoring. My guess is it is inherited runners counting as a loss to the pitcher who inherited the runners instead of the pitcher who allowed them while runs count against the pitcher who allowed them. That isn't correct but it looks like how they have programmed it (incorrectly).
Someone should submit a bug report.Last edited by kehlis; 03-16-2018, 07:12 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
I may just wait until OSFM drops, then try to find a used copy of the game solely I can play the game but no money goes to the devs. I know that sounds cold, but I've bought the game for like 10 years in a row, and I only play one mode (franchise) and it hasn't been updated in years. I really don't want to reward the company with a purchase, but there really isn't an alternative if I want to play video game baseball and actually play the games.Last edited by Bondsfan; 03-16-2018, 07:54 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
To get trade logic even close to right they really have to actually give teams identities instead of essentially having them all be the same. Small market teams should be considered small market teams and use logic that makes sense to them, whereas giants like the Yankees and Dodgers should run on different logic. Until you make that differentiation, you'll always end up with teams like the A's signing Altuve and the teams like the Yankees looking to offload Stantons salary.
Something simple like a list of ratings for each team like "market size", "fan loyalty", "likelihood to re-sign players", "likelihood to sign big name free agents", "likelihood to rebuild". That sort of thing. Make the different teams actually unique, so they can then make more realistic decisions.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
No I have not lost it.
Stanton had a career year and IMO will not match what he did lst season.
Bryce Harper has many more years left in his career and hitting in Yankee Stadium in that batting order.
Bring him to the Big Apple.
Stanton was being held together by scotch tape.
I actually know a few Marlins trainers.
I am not as optimistic about Stantons longevity in the league brohan.
Just my opinion.
I take Harper over Stanton as a complete baseball player and lefty power hitter in that park and that lineup every day every year.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
This all roots back to the financial system not being able to handle real life contracts. They would have to rewrite the budget code.
I am all for real life contracts. But you will run into major budget bugs using real life contracts. That is why the best OSFM rosters use the SCEA stock contracts. You can't play long term with real life money contracts. It causes all sorts of bugs in regards to teams budgets and players not being signed.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
I just watched the stream and I got to say, I'm extremely underwhelmed. I'm not going to start hating on what SDS has done, but for me personally, this years offering has yet to grab me. I think I might wait for a sale so I can continue the carry over into 19. I have a hard time justifying $60 for slightly better fielding and the 92 Jays jerseys.
It's kind of sad that those are the two things that grabbed me the most out of the streams.Comment

To be fair Moncado was traded for Urias. Might have been other players involved but that's a solid base for a trade I'd sayComment

I am also still mulling over to buy or not to buy. On the one hand, my teeth gnashing over what they haven't added and their "vision" for the mode being diametrically opposed to what I want to see. On the other hand, there is the part of me that hardly played MLB 17 (too much editing!!) and figures that MLB 18 might be a fresh coat of paint over some worthwhile ball physics (ball fizzicks!!) stuff added over the previous 2 years. So, I will probably look at the comments from the guinea pig...errr...guys who get the game on early release and see how the wind is blowing. See if Sony can manage a clean launch this time or if we have another patch-athon ahead of us.
I'd be more excited about the bullpen/lineup logic they mentioned if they didn't have so many warts on some new things they've tried to add in recent years (cash flow, quirks, morale system). I feel like most of these things end up being dead ends, have some really serious flaws in their implementation, or actually create some other logical glitch that they need to fix the next year. For example, with the new bullpen logic and the cpu looking at the closer position after every single series, I really shudder to think of some teams making a change on, say, April 3rd after the closer has one bad game. I'd almost rather a closer with a 5 ERA keep his job all season than the cpu yank a guy too quickly. Curious to see how this was actually implemented.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
problem is, no one else is taking that contract AND giving up any talent. The Yankees would have to do a complete salary dump to get rid of Stanton and possibly pay a portion of his salary. Only two or three teams could afford Stanton as is, and you have to convince them that they even want or need him.
They did not have to give much to get him. I really believe if they have a mutual verbal with a guy like Harper.....they would give away Stanton to pull the trigger on a Harper who IMO has HOF legend potential. A generational talent IMO. And he would be epic hitting in Yankee Stadium. He was born to wear pinstripes.
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
If the Yankees get a monster year out of both Stanton and Judge and a World Series run....maybe not. But I think there is a shot this story is not over.
Or maybe I am just dreaming. But it’s fun to speculate. Teams like the Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox have the power (revenue) to do these things.
And damn I am up late tonight......crazy I can’t sleep.
Tomorrow taking my entire travel team for my sons 13th birthday to see the Nationals and Mets.....Thor vs Strasburg.....freaking giddy for a spring training game with my boys whom I love to coach and teach this great game too.
Can’t wait.
And also.....so happy for Jose Altuve and his 5 year 150MM deal. That guy is worth every penny and exemplifies what hard work can bring you. He is a HOF in my book. And no doubt my favorite player in the MLB today.
5’5 and plays like he is 6’5. Just an amazing player and person. This is a great story. Guys like Jose Altuve is what makes baseball magical.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 03-17-2018, 01:30 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Why is there no individual team records? How would I know if I broke my teams home run record? Just weird that there’s no team records, for individual and team stats.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
I'm hopeful one of the devs may pop in and answer the question as to how the minor league balance logic wil work with carryover franchises?
Will teams start the process by making trades/signings throughout the course of the season? Will they wait until the offseason to start the process?
I guess I'm a little concerned, not sure why though, that this logic will not work with carryover saves. I really don't want to start over.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream Starting Now - Franchise Mode
As a huge baseball fanatic, it's sad to say I'm skipping this year's game. I don't feel they have warranted my money as an offline franchise player. I mean..yeah they don't care if I buy or not. One person not buying makes no impact but I believe we should invest in products we believe in. I have stopped purchasing games/products from companies that don't earn it. It's why I have not shopped at the train wreck of a place Walmart for long time. I am an offline franchise player. Don't wanna play with other humans, so I really look forward to every year to offline play. This stream was very disappointing indeed. I felt like they were telling us what we wanted with no evidence of who they were talking to. It's a ploy many developers use. I'm not buying it. I hope everyone else has a great time with the game this year. Maybe they will update it next year and I can get back into the game. Great weekend to you all.Comment
