I agree that we all have the right to our own opinions and I totally respect yours. All I meant to say was that I don’t understand all the complaining. And I still don’t. I understand disappointment and constructive criticism, but I just don’t get the childish remarks.

Anyways, I wasn’t necessarily talking about you. I think your logic is sound. You probably spend a decent amount of money on video games and if a title can’t get better from one year to the next then you vote with your cash. It’s really the only thing you can do. I can’t argue with that.

As for the logic in the game, I totally agree with you. It’s not something that can just be “fixed.” It will take a while for us to decide and we won’t all agree. This is exactly why I think they don’t bother working any more on the trade logic. No matter how good it is I think we’ll always say it should be better. It’s a losing battle for them.

As for my tone, well I was being a little over the top. I am as skeptical as anyone about what the developers say. If you’ve read any of my posts you’ll see that I know what motivates SDS (same thing that motivates any corporate subsidiary). I am just excited that they have worked on some stuff and were honest about a few things that didn’t work last year.

As for the Acuna and Otani comment, I am just excited to play with them. Certainly am not giving any extra credit for them being in the game.

No, you didn't nothing wrong. I may have been a little harsh myself. I think it is great to be excited about the game. After reading your comments and others, I think it's like there is not one fix for it all. I mean if they add all I want (I be happy) but others won't. I know probably offline franchise players are probably not the biggest buyers of games. I know I am probably in the small as I don't play with others online. I really don't know anyone outside my physical world I live in to play with. That is my fault for not trying to connect with others more online to play games. I can't fault SDS for that, so probably why I am harsher on the online portions of the game. I also like total realism, so I really don't like Diamond Dynasty, even though I know that is hugely popular, so I know my own anti bias there.

I do spend a lot of money on video games but I will say I am feel very blessed I am able to buy whatever games I want. I will be honest when I say this..for the past 10 years, I was a "stupid, ignorant" buyer as I would buy pretty much all the games and they're are tons I games I bought I still have not played yet. Wasted money on my part. I have really toned down in alot year and half and made smarter buying choices ( not pre-ordering, watching non spoiler reviews of the game, and sometimes the first hour of a lets play, so I can see if that game is something I give my time to.) I do feel though for the others more who maybe can only afford a game a year (and this one is it) and they don't fix the things I feel warrants taking everyone's hard earn money. I guess that what I meant to say originally but failed horribly. So, my apologies for that.

I have a question. I too am strictly offline franchise. Apologies to the moderators for bringing up another website but it is relevant to this discussion. Do you post on the "official" website shownation and if so are your hours played accurately reflected? The reason I ask is because my actual hours played as an offline franchise user are far greater than what they have me listed at and I can't post on their forums because they say I haven't played enough hours. I wonder if this is a universal problem and the developers don't realize how many people and hours are played this mode because their method of collecting data is flawed.

This would explain why they focus what I would consider shallow things like critical situations, retro mode and now phases instead of adding depth. They are trying to attract more casual users to franchise mode because they don't realize how many people play it already.

I never been on the shownation site? What is it? The first I ever heard of it.

shownation is SDS/Sony's own forum specifically for the Show. Its been around since at least since 2010. I actually stumbled onto OS because of shownation. But I no longer visit anymore. I can get everything I need Show-wise from OS. And more.

One thing I don't remember hearing mentioned in the stream was whether or not presentation stat popups have been corrected? ie: Standings. In 17 they would show the standings for the NL East say, but the graphic would say it was the NL West or something like that.

Also, since it doesn't appear that us single control players will be able to scroll through and see the staffs for other clubs around the league, I'm wondering if they will allow those of us who carryover a save to be able to toggle on/off 30 team control? I doubt it, but hope its available so that I can see who is on the staff of the other clubs.

I submitted a bug report for the issue after every patch in the first few months after release and upvoted a number of reports also submitted by other players.

Maybe for 19 it will be one of the big new additions added for franchise.

I don't want to turn it off, I want to turn it on.

I only do single team control. The only reason I would turn on 30 team control is to see the staffs for other teams. Other than that, I don't have a need to use it.

I've never paid any attention to trophies until recently when I realized despite playing MLB the show 17 in offline franchise manage mode I had no trophies.

The above website categorizes trophies by mode. There are three for franchise - all three for thing which were new to the mode in 17. Critical situations, player lock and quick play. I played probably a couple hundred hours and not once did I play any of those because they didn't interest me.

Then I started wondering why those were the only trophies in franchise. Is it because they are trying to track how many people are using their newly added stuff? If so then is is possible they are using trophies to calculate how many people play each mode? If so then...

Franchise 3 trophies
Play now 10 trophies
RTTS 7 trophies
DD 9 trophies

...would explain why franchise gets so little attention relative to other modes.

I think the trophies in franchise for example are to get people to try out the new things they added.

There were trophies for retro mode as well.

It seems a lot of sports games use trophies as “incentive” to get players to try something new.

I gotcha. I doubt you'll be able to "turn it on". It's something you set up at the beginning of the franchise, instead of a toggle.

In your next franchise, if you set up originally for 30 team control and set everything on your cpu profile to auto, you'll get the option that you want without any of the hassle of controlling the other teams.

It's not just the amount of trophies for each mode it's the time it takes to achieve the trophies. I spent many many hours in dd getting the trophie for conquest that i would not have otherwise wasted in the mode if not for trophies. I also think i spent time in dd because i wanted to unlock the rangers nameplate ect. I also played that awful retro mode a few weeks ago to get those trophies.

The trophies in franchise mode can be gotten in only a few minutes.

as someone who just started playing the game a couple of years ago, but doesn't particularly know the ins/outs of all the MLB salary/transaction rules.... I'm happy with the changes that puts the critical information out in front of you. No more having to dig through the rule book.

I get people won't be happy about the inclusion of things like stadiums, but this will maybe keep people like me that struggled to stay invested in Franchise to stick around.

I can see how this would be very helpful for people newer to the franchise, but for many of us who have been playing it for years and already know all the ins and outs it's completely useless, I would say however it does have a nice look to it
