    SEATTLE MARINERS UPDATE #2

    SPRING TRAINING

so before I've even played one game I wanted to make some minor moves to shore up depth and some bench pieces

    Trade #1

    Indians Received:
    SP Jordan Guerrero (C)
    1B Tommy Joseph (B)

    Mariners Received:
    1B Edwin Encarnacion (B)

It was pretty a swap of DH pieces who are very similar in Encarnacion and Joseph. Joseph has 5 years of control with Encarnacion 2 years. Made this deal because I needed a little more pop in my lineup (and just like Encarnacion lol)

    Trade #2

    Red Sox Received:
    CF Lolo Sanchez (B)

    Mariners Received:
    LF Jose Bautista (B)
    RP Drew Storen (C)
    CF Braden Bishop (C)

I wanted Jose Bautista because he plays multiple positions and brings pop for a cheap price. All 3 players Mariners received were buried on the Red Sox depth Chart and have potential to make impact for the Mariners.

    Trade #3

    Orioles Received:
    SP Jamie Callahan (B)

    Mariners Received:
    1B Adrian Gonzalez (C)

Adrian Gonzalez is a possible bench piece or depth for the Mariners. On a one year contract it was a good deal for both sides as Callahan has good potential to a bad roster of mostly C and D potentials on the Orioles.

    BIG TRADE ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Trade #4

    Royals Recieved:
    3B Mike Moustakas (B)
    CF Luis Robert (A)
    SS Javier Guerra (C)

    Mariners Received:
    3B Josh Donaldson

I had really good depth in CF with having Victor Robles ahead of Luis Robert. Guerra has high C potential in a weak SS position for the Royals. And Moustakas and Donaldson are both on 1 year contracts. I made this deal because Donaldson has great defense but also brings more pop, a little more contact and more speed to a very versatile lineup. After making this deal I have a very very good middle of the order.

So they Mariners fired all their coaches and scouts and decided to go a different direction right before spring training.
Instead opting to make Edgar Martinez the head coach.

After simming spring training the coach firing and trades looks like they are paying off. The Mariners had the best record at 21-7

              SEATTLE MARINERS UPDATE #7

              REGULAR SEASON

              GAME 2

Cleveland Indians (0-1) vs Seattle Mariners (1-0)

Josh Tomlin absolutely DOMINATED the Mariners. Going 9 innings with 6K, with only 1BB and 4hits.
Carlos Martinez was good 1 second and completely lost the next second. He still managed to go 7 innings giving up 11hits, 3ER and 9K.

              Cleveland:
              CF C. Yelich 2-5 2B
              3B Y. Guerriel 1-5
              RF A. Judge 1-4 RBI

              SS J.Hardy 0-2 SAC

As you can see I couldn't get anything going, Tomlin was a strike throwing machine and I was always behind in the count. Well on to the series finale

Re: Official MLB The Show 18 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

One of my favorite things to do is run a bunch of fantasy drafts, and trying and get into an "algorithm" if you will. *Still on 17

I found that if I have the 20th-23rd overall pick in the draft I can draft as such:

                      SS: Corey Seager (90)
                      RF: Aaron Judge (88)
                      SP: Chris Archer (88)*
                      SP: Lance McCullers (86)*
                      LF: Matt Gamel (84)
                      1B/DH: Eric Thames (80)
                      CF: Tommy Pham (80)
                      RP: Andrew Miller (96) - Becomes CL, I'd imagine he'd become 97-98*
                      RP: Carter Capps (86)*
                      2B: Brandon Drury (78)
                      3B: Travis Shaw (78)*
                      1B: Josh Bell (78)*
                      SP: Trevor Bauer (78)*
                      RP: Archie Bradley (80)*

                      * denotes morale ratings boosted overall

From there on out, it's a mystery, but I feel like that's a solid baseline to start with? I figure I splurge on some prospects in the AAA portion to try and get together a package for a deadline C and more rotation assistance. Also, since on my last run through, I found could get Archie Bradley late, I may opt for a LHRP in place of Capps.

I found that if I have the 20th-23rd overall pick in the draft I can draft as such:

                        SS: Corey Seager (90)
                        RF: Aaron Judge (88)

                        SP: Lance McCullers (86)*
                        LF: Matt Gamel (84)
                        1B/DH: Eric Thames (80)
                        CF: Tommy Pham (80)
                        RP: Andrew Miller (96) - Becomes CL, I'd imagine he'd become 97-98*
                        RP: Carter Capps (86)*
                        2B: Brandon Drury (78)
                        3B: Travis Shaw (78)*
                        1B: Josh Bell (78)*
                        SP: Trevor Bauer (78)*
                        RP: Archie Bradley (80)*

So I'm looking at 2 different deals I want to do and wanted opinions on if it's fair or not in a fantasy Franchise

                          Trade 1:
SP Noah Syndergaard (92/A) 4 years of control,
                          For
SP Luis Severino (86/A) 5 years of control
                          And B potential prospect

                          Trade 2:
                          RP Arodys Chapman (91/A) 5yrs, 30yrs old
                          For
RP Felipe Rivero (88/B) 4yrs control, 26 year old
                          And B potential prospect

Overall I think both deals are pretty fair and the CPU recommend pick accepts it

I think both trades look pretty fair a number 1 for a number 1 and closer for closer. I like them.

Well ladies and gents, its time I return to the Show. I did a fantasy draft with the Padres last night, a team I have never used ever, and Im pretty excited. I went really heavy on the pitching side of things, and drafted a lot of position players I have really never used.

I went young with my 2B / SS combo, and have a fairly light hitting lineup in general. I do have a bit of power potential, which well have to wait and see how that shakes out in PetCo.

Heres a look at the Major League Roster:

Year 3 of The Mantheny Manifesto is back!

The Red Birds are seeking to return to the World Series for the second time in 3 years. We are off to a 7-5 start and head into The Great American Ballpark to face division rivals in The Reds. It should be another great season as we look to bounce back from a heart breaking game 7 loss in the NCLS in 2017. I will check in here from time to time with some updates. I really love this team. I will post my most current depth chart here soon. It is a heck of squad.
