Just threw out Matt Kemp on a ball in the dirt to the catcher. Wacha bounced a changeup in the dirt, Stephen Vogt collected it and threw Kemp out at 2nd.

Didn't see this at all last year!!!

    Thank you SDS.

I wouldn't use real contacts. After 5 or 6 seasons with default contracts there are a bunch of 90 overall players unsigned.

My goodness this game continues to impress me! Played my season opener against the Padres and the crowd got excited in the 9th as we were closing out a 2-0 ballgame. Renfroe got a single with 2 strikes and 2 outs and the crowd was quieted for a moment. Then Lowrie comes up as the tying run and the crowd gets on its feet and is cheering like crazy!

One thing that I hope SDS will look at is moving the pitcher/batter analysis back to the d-pad. I am someone who utilizes the crap out of it and its cumbersome to have to dig thru the pause menu to access. Please SDS, not sure if its patchable, but please please please, make it a quick access via the d-pad.

Oh and my game was overcast with a hint of fog. Absolutely a gorgeous gloomy day.

Just curious as to what your pregame weather was to get the fog.

Overcast and in the 50's at first pitch.

I'm loving the player models. They seem just a little bit skinnier, which works for me. Before they were too beefy.

Overall very impressed, enjoying it very much.

Why don't they use the touchpad, i don't understand why they refuse to use it. It was used in 14 for something but i can't remember.
Could have it so you touch on the left for pitcher analysis and touch on the right for batter analysis.

Another thing we used to have access to that i miss was a screen that would show which fielders have great arms.

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions

On the field, easily the best iteration of the game. Lots of visual updates and small under the hood upgrades add up to a really nice improvement. For me the game itself is really dialed in on the field.

That said, I have no interest in DD mode or any of that crap. No season mode is a major disappointment, and a real head scratcher. Franchise mode, while I love the new screens and the UI, really doesn't immerse you in to the franchise world. (Luckily we have OOTP for that).

I've never really been an RTTS guy, but I am loving the changes this year, and have really had a lot of fun with it. The updated the camera angle while playing in the field, making playing defense a much less aggravating experience. I love the new Cap system, as it's no longer to be a 99 across the board player.

I'm not much on game scores but I give it a solid 8.5. It loses points for losing season mode, and a pretty dry franchise mode. If it had anything near what NBA2k or half of what OOTP had for franchise mode this would be an easy 9.5 type game in my opinion

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions

Just played a really fun game albeit one that would have put the comeback code brigade on full alert lol

Winning 3-0 in top 6th we gave up 3. Game tied 3-3.
We then scored 3 ourselves in bottom of 6th to take a 6-3 lead.

Top 7th.. Braves got a couple doubles a few singles and we committed 2 errors on 1 play (Gregorious) and the Braves ended up with 4 runs to take a 7-6 lead.

They also scored 1 in 8th to make it 8-6

We (Yankees) bounced back and scored 3 in bottom of the 8th to take a 9-6 lead. Chapman in on the 9th..

After a couple more doubles, singles and the games 1st passed ball we were now down 12-9 lol

We could muster anything in bottom of 9th and it was a 12-9 loss.

Sucks to lose it but 1: Not a real franchise and 2: Can't win em all.

The game looks better with HDR off on my sony 900e. Looks to washed out when on.

I have the 900e, and I think it looks a ton better with it on. I'm playing on a Slim though, so maybe that makes a difference?

My Tv settings are likely different than yours. Edit: I see you say you have the slim, I’m on the pro. HDR settings off colors are a lot more vivid.

I absolutely love the new player emotion and camera cuts that they have this year. Love seeing a camera cut to the bullpen showing who is warming up for the opponent. The cutaway to the starting pitcher in the dugout with is stat lines. More shots of the manager.

                                Well done SDS

These are the little things that were needed to improve the atmosphere/presentation of the game.
