Playing as Dodgers against the Angels, games getting tight, late. Ump is making some questionable balls and strikes calls and Dave Roberts is screaming at him from the dugout! Really cool to see!

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I absolutely love the new player emotion and camera cuts that they have this year. Love seeing a camera cut to the bullpen showing who is warming up for the opponent. The cutaway to the starting pitcher in the dugout with is stat lines. More shots of the manager.
Well done SDS
These are the little things that were needed to improve the atmosphere/presentation of the game.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I was curious as to how the CPU would handle their roster, in a carryover franchise, given the new addition of balancing their rosters that was added to franchise this year. Looking at the trade block, it appears that the CPU is trying to balance their rosters on the whole as they are putting up players from loaded positions while seeking help in positions of need/weakness.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
The LED boards in Yankee Stadium (Centerfield next to the batter eye on the Jax Terrace) seem to be frozen and don't move or work...Also sounds of the show definitely needs a patch...Low volumes, and SDS sounds play over the top of your custom sounds making it sound awful....Also if they could make the games frame rate a little smoother in balanced and 4k mode this game would be truly incredible...However, I'm loving it so far...Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I think the player emotion part is a little over the top. The on base showboating I absolutely detest. Very 1990's sega-nintendo -ish. Players simply do not stand on base taunting and pointing up at the heavens after getting on base. Unless they want a beanball to the back on their next at bat!Currently Playing:

Most of that is rooted in what's been happening in real baseball over the last couple of years. It's not just a handful of individuals either, as plenty of the on-base gestures are team celebrations.
If it's been overdone, I don't think it's been by much (maybe some of the early inning stuff). Personally, I'd rather things like that trend on the higher end, as personality is one of the areas where the game has been lacking IMO.
I can understand why others wouldn't like it, though.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
Adam, is there anything new regarding the roster glitch we've been discussing in the OSFM thread?

Have you watched any baseball say over the last 5 years? Happens all the time.

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
Gameplay feels great. Pitch -> Bat -> in play looks super smooth and is a noticeable improvement over last year's game.
Graphics are also outstanding. The player models look noticeably better this year (I'm noticing more of a jump from 17->18 then 16->17)
Hitting is definitely easier. I had issues at times with how frustrating hitting could feel in 17. Ended up just consistently playing on veteran to make up for it - this year I'm on All Star and doing far better than I ever did in 17. Think its clearly due to the slower default pitch speed (which I dont think I want to fiddle with just yet).
Pitching feels pretty much the same to me with the already-mentioned smoothness being the most noticeable factor.
Also - LOVE the new Franchise Mode UI. Last year's didnt seem bad at first, but over playing a few months, a lot of the warts began to stand out. (Still cant figure out how to get to standings all these months later!) - Nice improvement here.
Havent gotten far into franchise mode just yet - can anyone report on how scheduling is years in the future? Do you switch divisions in interleague play every year, or is the same as last year and we'll always be stuck with the interleague division of 2018?
Seems like Free agents and trades are better balanced this year as well, but I feel like we always end up having problems with that anyway.Comment
