I'm noticing higher scores too, and I love it. Will have to experiment with options and sliders to find my comfort zone, but this is good news. I could be really stingy against the CPU last year, doesn't appear so this year.

I feel your pain. , I don't enjoy other controls as much either . I just think if they would make the meter move up and down a little faster it would help to make it harder to control pitches . That's what I expected them to do . I am very disappointed that nothing was done , I am going to keep trying to iron out the sliders and make this work. If I get anything I feel is good enough I will post it in the vault labeled as pure analog sliders for the few of us who enjoy analog can try and maybe with everyone's ideas we can get it good ??
Sucks that we even have to mess with sliders when the hardest difficulty isn’t hard. Flat out pitching is too easy, don’t punish the hardcore guys who have been playing for years. Please let the hardest difficulty be challenging. Instead of sliders this should be a patch imo or the game will be shelved by the veteran players

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
First off if you are not bunting a low in the zone pitch a low rated bunter you will be screwed.
So for pitchers you are trying to attempt a sac bunt, get in the bunt stance early and pull away if the pitch is not down in the zone.
Also press down on the RS (6 oclock position) when bunting to give it a deadening effect.
Bunt ratings really matter, the pitch location matters and pressing down (if you want to angle it down left or down right 7 o’clock or 5 o’clock to drag it doen the lines respectively) on the RS.
And sometimes it still won’t work as bunting is not easy. But I have had success with great bunters and good bunters. Poorly rated bunters not so much.
It takes practice. And thank god it is not automatic like it was on previous versions (15,16). Now it takes stick skills, ratings and the right pitch.....like IRL.

This actually makes s lot of sense. I’m going to try this. I had a little pop up on my only bunt attempt.

I’m hitting on HOF and I’m seeing a lot of variety. I’m also using Astros, who have a lot of great hitters, but so far I’m pleasantly surprised.

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
In case it hasn't been confirmed, Shohei Otani has his name in the game audio.

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
Hmm. A bug, I hope and not be design. Players in A ball don't show up in the PLAYER MOVEMENT screen. I'm still in spring training and Kenny Vargas was sitting in A ball for CN (I'm doing a 25 man roster) and I went to move him back to Minnesota and couldn't. I'll have to move him up to AA to see him.
Please don't let this be by design.Last edited by KnightTemplar; 03-24-2018, 01:21 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
It looks and feels amazing. The ball is definitely a little different off the bat (in a very good way). Player models are sharper, especially CAPs.
Online play seems to be functioning rather well, which we all know didn't happen in the past from the offset. It always seemed to take a few days before you could do anything online.
Like others have stated, it sucks to see seasons are no longer in the game. For years I've done 14 game seasons (mostly to kill time until the OSFMs drop) and have tracked stats in a personal spreadsheet. I guess I can say goodbye to that.
I have a RttS player that is currently in year 2026, and was worried about how the changes to that mode would affect him. I was glad to see that his ratings will just gradually decline to meet the caps instead of wiping out his attributes in one fell swoop. It also kinda makes sense for the evolution of my player since he's in his age-30 season.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
This game is stunning on a 4K TV and PS4 Pro. I see what everyone was talking about now! I'm playing with HDR Off and Game Resolution on Balanced. Not sure if I should turn HDR on? The framerate stability is awesome, too.
Hitting on All-Star seems a little easier than last year, but I'm OK with that. The menus are much improved from past years.
I'll have some detailed impressions later, but the visuals really jumped out to me. If you're contemplating upgrading your TV and/or PS4, you will definitely notice a big difference!Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
My first impressions from a Sony baseball player since the very beginning is that the core gameplay is nearly identical to past years. The ball physics and graphics are slightly improved. Other than that, it’s a minor upgrade. I am truly disappointed.

Custom Broadcast themes is a thing of beauty!!!!
Nothing like the end of inning/half inning and listening to the Fox Sports Baseball theme music playing.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
