After playing about six games I have actually seen errors. Most by the AI. I got in on the fun as well. Being the Mets, there are a bunch of guys who play multiple posistions, and they do not field the same. I am actually playing the field as well. Normally, I'll play a game or two on release and go back to auto. Not this year. The new animations are a very welcomed addition. The new crowd animations stand out big time. My wife even said that it looks so much better. I have more impressions, like how the game is amazing out of the box, but I got to get back to playing...

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
it's very arcadey. I ONLY play vs CPU custom teams. There are a bunch of bugs that I'm sure will be addressed. Night games lighting needs to be adjusted, crowd noise is way too obnoxious, especially when playing in minor league parks, The seats are half empty, but it sounds like 50,000!, stance creator is broken, but the thing I detest the most is the base celebrations and showboating are after damn hit. So what, I singled with bases empty , down by 5 runs, I don't need to see the players showboating on the base. That stuff is nintendo worthy, C'mon guys, we are not all 13 years old. Overall ,the game looks good, crisp, players look a lot better than last year. Can't wait to see the first patch.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
Got one game in with legend hitting. Thought it was going to be another cake walk. Had 13 hits in the sixth inning but had to save to do yard work. Didn’t get another hit the rest of the game. Struck out 9 time but drew 6 walk. Won 4-3.
Think I’m going to give legend default so more time. Nice being near the top in walks instead of the bottom. Same with ABs. If my BA levels off and I strike out more this will be perfect.

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I think financials have taken a HUGE step backwards. I cannot find where you can see what the actual budget is and if it has increased or decreased each year.
After 6 years with less guys retiring you have free agency loaded with 90 plus players.
Players are offered less in arbitration than they made the season before and even when they win it's less than they made season before.

Better than expected
Although not much has changed regarding franchise (which is the only thing I care about) the game is a lot better than how most people made it out to be. Hitting is pretty good, though I have only played on dynamic hitting-so I will have to assess later. Pitching is way to easy! Had a Verlander game against Dodgers and struck out 20,then Severino had a 1 hit 15 strikeout game against Dodgers?! Pretty sure a slider set will adjust for this, but every year I am always too good at pitching. I think in my Yanks franchise last year all my guys had over 12 wins with close to 200 strikeouts each and ERAs under 2.50. Tanaka won 22 games and had 322 strikeouts lol.
I do not know how any plays Diamond Dynasty? Really wanted to jump on board this year, but it is such a stale endeavor. I gave up when anyone with a speed over 75 hits a groundout they are always safe! Absurd! Oh well, it was never for me anyways. Hopefully with slider sets and the OFSM roster this rendition will be another fun year. Love the menus.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
The only positive thing I see so far is smoother graphics. This game is designed for the DD online player. No season mode stinks for historical roster players. I don't see this is years version as an upgrade. Same problems as pre patch in last years game. Pitching stamina is weak. Starting Pitchers are done after 5-6 innings. Fielding is sluggish and lethargic. I can see a lot of patches coming. It doesn't appear they put much effort into game play improvements and focused on graphics. Not worth $60 bucks for the upgrade.Steelers, Penguins, Penn State, Pirates, Red Sox, Manchester United.Comment

I'm joking. I personally never saw that animation before. Maybe that is the game randomizing it, and pretending it's like a player who mishandled their gather of the ball. I've had pretty decent urgency with my players myself.
It's kind of sad that guys like Brian McCann and Albert Pujols have a speed rating of 0, whereas a guy like Bartolo "Two Slices" Colon has a speed rating of 1.
In Retro Mode, because you throw with the button that you leap/dive with, it's hard to get the timing of wanting to already enter your catch animation and throw right after with a pre-load in mind. Most times that I do, my player actually dives after having already caught it.
I've also had some Retro Mode baserunning quips. In only two games played so far, at least nine or so guys have just been rounding first and heading to second, and only once I had even caught it to stop. That's because after my hit I had put down the controller, maybe to take a sip of water or refresh OS or something. Then my guy is randomly heading to second base. There were then other times when he wouldn't advance at all and I was holding X to round.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
The red color really pops in this game. I’m very impressed with how vivid it is. The Angels, Reds, Red Sox and cardinals all look incredible. I’m a little disappointed with the lack of upgrades in the franchise mode but overall I’m happy with the gameComment

I've seen some pretty good branching for anything that is not leaping in a direction or reversing a direction (either when baserunning or fielding).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
