Anyone else seeing an ungodly amount of linedrive catches by the infielders? Wheether that be hard liners or weird, gravity defying, soft liners that just float along until the infielders sprint 10 yards to pluck them out of the air?

Not seeing a whole lot of top spin either

Here's another one. This should have been a routine double play. Simmons seems to field and flip it cleanly. Kinsler catches it and turns it quickly. Maybe baserunners are to fast?

It wasn't a real hard hit ball (3 hopper) and being a lefty out of the box etc...
Just lower BR speed a bit to get what you want..

Have settings pretty close and am having a blast in test franchise and RTTS.

Can't say enough how great looking the game is.
Other than the stance creator being a bit wonky I'm very happy with the game.

Hopefully tonight I can get a lot of time with it once family gets to bed

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions

Gameplay wise, this game is without a shadow of a doubt, the best playing baseball game I have ever played. The hitting (which kept me from playing '17 last year) feels damn near perfect. I love the slight increase in pitcher difficulty. I am playing on Legend across the board and I am honestly loving every minute of it.

I just lost a game to the Longball Beasts 1-0 in which I gave up 5 hits, 2 of those being to Orel Hershiser, and one for the sole RBI of the game. I strike out Gwynn and Griffey and combined 5 times in this game and Orel beats me not only with his arm, but his bat as well.

I am putting the finishing touches on my roster. Normally I do this as I play ST but due to a hiccup I'm doing them while playing Play Now games.

I am hopeful that I will start my franchise tonight.

The pitcher batter battle is great, the defense is amazing and the ball physics...absolutely wow.

I wasn't happy with '17, but I'm glad that I didn't hesitate to pick up '18 because, my goodness its damn good.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I've scored 10-plus runs in each of my last 3 games. I think I'll start with upping the pitch speed first and see how that goes before changing the difficulty level.

Did they remove the slow-mo on stolen base attempts? I haven't run across it yet.

Yep I've had to raise pitch speed until it felt right.

I've seen the slow motion once so far so it's still there.

I haven't seen top spin this year. The one thing that's missing that '17 did have.

I've been taking a lot of notes when I was going to do a more comprehensive set of impressions, but I've been laying most of them out already. Anyway, one of them was going to be "all back spin, no top spin" (or "normal" spin, really).

I mean it was impressive, but I didn't go numb over the experience or anything. This game warranted a purchase, though. And I don't touch DD, RttS, Conquest Mode, or Shohei Ohtani.
You hit it on the head, B. It is the way things are now, which isn’t a bad thing. Just imagine what this game would look like when the day comes when we will be wowed!

I don't play Diamond Dynasty and I don't begin a franchise or RTTS until the OSFM rosters come out, so I've mostly been screwing around with DD a bit, then getting bored/frustrated that I don't get it. So, then I play OOTP.

I upped both fastball and offspeed all the way to the right. I also lowered my timing by half. I hate messing with sliders, but it was too easy, imo, to make contact. I didn't score the runs you did (I stink...LOL), but I didn't feel as though I could get beat on any pitch.

I haven't seen the slo-mo on steal attempts.

Damn, I was hoping it was removed, or at least an option to turn it off.

After posting that I wasn't going to get the game, I got the game!

I won't give Impressions because it's not fair based on the six Innings that I've played so

But, I will say this: I've gotten pummeled by the Dodgers lineup when I've tried to be very predictable, pitching. This makes me happy because in the past I was able to throw the same pitch over and over and not really get hurt. Those days are gone

Question to anyone who can help me because Justin Verlander has thrown a hundred and thirty pitches and I keep getting the message he's tired but I can't take him out of the game I can't access the bullpen at all

Does this have something to do with the fact that the game is still loading? The directional pad doesn't work for anything. I can't see stats I can't call up my bullpen. I'm stuck

                              Yes. Just wait it out.

I'm surprised you got that far to play before it was done installing. Maybe it's because I'm on the Pro or maybe it's because I waited till my downloads finished (mind you, I only get 6Mbps download speed until next Saturday), that when I started playing my install game I only had about 40% to go on the install itself.

Thanks. I gave myself a stress headache trying to access my pen. I started back in the 6th inning

He ended up throwing 164 pitches

I'm already in the 3rd inning if the second game and I'm still waiting for install to finish
