Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion

Orioles franchise week away from all star break and we are out of it. Its sell time.

    Guys i have to move:

    Manny. 298/376/540 17 hr

Britton 1.34 era 1.11 whip 1 blown save on year

Brad brach 2.25 era 1.10 whip

    Willing to move:

Gauseman maybe hes been my best starter but for a decent package i could ship him. 4-7 3.77 era 1.46 whip

Yanks, Bos, Twins, Indians, angels, mariners are looking good in AL. Yanks are getting meh productions at 3rd. Angels getting none. Seager out for the year.

In the NL Nats, Mets, Cubs, Cards, Dodgers, Giants, Brewers are in it. Russell isnt hitting for cubbies. Cards could use help at SS and 3rd. Dejong is hitting .220. Gyroko .240.

I have seen the Machado to Cards move for Flaherty/O'Neill which is ok but if possible i think i prefer a move with the Cubs for russell with Machado. Any suggestions what that could look like.

The relievers im open to suggestions as every contending team could use arms. Prefer infield or pitching prospects as Hays and Mullins are raking in the minors and will probably be in my outfield next season.

So, looking at the OP spreadsheet (props for the updated first post explaining the calculations, very nicely done!) with the rumors of Machado to ATL possibly, am I getting this right?

      Machado is worth $36 million
Kyle Wright is worth $32 million

So a package of Wright and maybe a couple small pieces/lottery tickets would be enough to acquire Machado for ATL?

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion

Just over 100 games into the season with the Braves. I'm 56-45, but 5 games back of the Nats in the NL East. I've really been struggling at the plate, so I'm looking to add a little more pop to the lineup.

Looking at either Eduardo Escobar or Mike Moustakas to upgrade at third, moving Camargo back to a utility role. What's tough is that the Twins at 1 game back and the Royals are 3.5 games back in the Central. However, LoMo and Mauer have both been playing well at first for Minnesota and Sano at third blocks Escobar somewhat.

Moose is slashing .221/.303/.399 with 17 HR and 47 RBI with a WAR of 1.6.

Escobar is slashing .247/.292/.436 with 16 HR and 38 RBI with a WAR of 0.6.

What kind of haul would I have to give up to pry either of them away from their teams? Or if y'all have any other 3B recommendations, I'm open to them too.

Would Brandon Drury be an option either? Andujar has been raking for the Yankees while Drury has been struggling in Triple-A, hitting just .197.

        ------

Also, I need some help in the bullpen. If I wanted to deal for Blake Treinen from Oakland, would Patrick Weigel and Brett Cumberland be enough to get that deal done? Treinen is 0-2 with 4 saves, 3.68 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. The A's are 11 games out, last in the AL West and 15 games under .500.

The closest looking deal would be the Machado for Tyler O'neill($20.2)/Jack Flaherty ($32.2). So maybe Wright ($32.2) + Allard ($19.7)?

I think the Machado/Russell is a discussion some of us need to have in this thread. It's a popular trade both in and outside of this thread. I tend to think a straight up swap with maybe Baltimore sending a lottery ticket is enough to do this deal, with a caveat that Chicago has every intention of opening up their checkbook to resign Manny in the off-season. Others might disagree with this assessment though.

I'm going to touch on this at the bottom so I'm hitting both responses.

We did an Atlanta/Moustakas deal a few pages back, I'd check that out. Gamecock wasn't a big fan so we can always rehash it if need be but I think going off of our pre-season numbers and metrics, it's an okay deal.

So I wanted to touch on this. And I want to be clear, this is MY opinion. Others could vehemently disagree.

I don't like trading All-Star bats if I'm not getting a bat in return. Bats are simply more valuable than arms and losing a guy like Machado is going to leave a gaping hole in this Baltimore offense/future. Thus, if I'm Baltimore, I'm not clearing a deal that doesn't include Austin Riley. I personally think something like this is more in tune with what Baltimore would want. We can rehash the fairness of it of course, I'm just trying to paint a picture of how I think Baltimore would approach Atlanta in this situation.

I agree on BAL wanting a bat back and I'm pretty confident they'd want Riley. Thanks for the info. I'll have to ponder making this deal in my franchise.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree. IMO, based on their horrible farm system as well as their current dumpster fire team, Baltimore needs to try to get the best package possible for Machado. Whether or not it includes a bat is irrelevant. If the best deal they can get includes a high end arm like Allard, along with a good prospect like Austin Riley type guy, then you absolutely take it. If not, so be it.

Thanks for response i did end up trading manny for russell straight up. I considered adding a pitching prospect from the cubs as well but decided against it figuring i would go on the safe side of not taking to much in return. Russell has ended uo being great for me in retrospect. In 2nd season and a month in hes hitting around .290 with a little more pop then i expected.

With the rebuild underway still im considering moving schoop this season unless we are really hanging around in the wild card. Away from system but i want to say last season he hit something like .275ish with a low .320s obp and 35ish hr. What type of value could he bring back in return assuming he is on the same type of trajectory in the current season at the break.. Could i get a top 100 prospect or more like a low B potential arm. Thanks in advance

It's pretty obvious that he wants to test the FA market though...and I'm not trying to argue that Russell is better than Machado, because he's not, but giving up 4 years of cheap control on Russell for 2-3 months of Machado, to then have to bid on his services and potentially lose out on him probably isn't in the Cubbies best interest.

Are 3 A prospects basically needed for deGrom or Syndergaard?

Surely, the Mets would need a HAUL? And if you hade the ammo to get either, who would you go after?

                          18. I traded Kurt Suzuki and an arm for him earlier this year. Just making sure the cards don’t need more in return. He is their ace
Doesn't sound like the Angels got enough for Simmons. Carlos Martinez is on a team friendly contract and is essentially an ace. Hes going to cost a whole lot. Aaron Blair has about as much value in a trade as I do.

                                Reds-Eugenio Suarez (77.8)
                                Braves- Riley (20.2) + Allard (19.7) + Gohara (32.2)?
Reds just signed him to an extension so they would likely want an overpay. And those 3 prospects don't add up to 77 so it probably ain't enough
