Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
I'm a huge fan of Brandon Webb in his prime, his sinker was really sick. So I'm thinking about recreating him for my next RTTS. Webb threw a Sinker (75%), Circle Change (15%) and Curve (10%) during his career.
I tried it in the past but the sinker as primary pitch was not good enough, had not enough speed and was not able to generate enough ground balls fooling the batters, either threw it really low and most of the time they let it pass for a ball or if i missed it a threw it over the knees, they would hit it hard.
Do you guys think it's a viable player model for this year RTTS? Which archetype and pitches should I take? Would the 2FB be a better "sinker"? What about RFB, Sinker and a third pitch? I like the circle change but all them break towards the pitcher arm side. Maybe a better option could be Sinker, Cuter, Circle change.Last edited by [Icy]; 04-05-2019, 08:36 AM.Comment

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
Created Small Ball archetype CF playing on Hall of Fame difficulty. I got drafted in 15th round by the Orioles, seems like a lot of people are getting drafted by them. Was playing pretty good heading into second month of the season. In 35 games I batted .342 avg. 23 RBI, 2 Hr, 20 SB, 7 triples.
On May 21, 2019, month and half into my first season I get called up straight to the Majors from Double-A and now I'm the starting CF for the Orioles. Never in the show did I ever get called up that fast before. I'm only a 66 OVR, 94 SPD, 61 Con R, 60 Con L, 24 Power L and R.
Three games in my Major League career so far I'm batting .231 in 13 AB, 3 Hits and 6 Strikeouts. We'll see how long I last. Kinda shocked by this.Comment

I'm not happy catchers don't call pitches anymore. 17 seems to be the last year. I went back to 16 and moved him to 3B (carry over from 14).Comment

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
I have had three different players get drafted in the 15th round 1st pick by Baltimore. My cousin kept going back to college and got drafted in the same spot same team Baltimore all 3 times.
Finally I made a CP and just picked what team I wanted to be on

It's happening to me. I've created three different players - (LF, CF, RF). I keep going to the Orioles in the 17 no matter how many times I go back and play the 2nd prospect game and go into the draft.Comment

Did some looking around on this issue....this is all over the reddit forum's and at show nation. What I haven't seen is anyone who has found a fix. Some seem to have no issues with it and many have tried dozens of times on different saves and continue to have same problem. I am drafted by them every single time with no exceptions.Comment

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
Created a RF, unlike everyone else I got drafted by the Giants in the 15th round, middle of the season I get traded to the Orioles (ironically), only to be traded back to the Giants 9 days later. I finish the season in AA with 32 HRs and 100+ RBIs. 2nd Season, I am starting RF for the Giants, but struggling hard in the Majors. Through 2 months, I'm hitting .156 2 HRs 13 RBIs and 50 SO. I can't catch up to the fastball to save my life in the Majors. Overall this years game has been super enjoyable and a challenge.

With all the other mechanics in the game to help us play how we want to, like allowing us to pick the team that drafts us, ask for position changes or trades, etc. You'd think there would be some way for us to choose not to get called up way too soon.
I know some people are impatient and want to get called up ASAP, but some of us actually want to earn it and grind out a year or two in the minors so our overall rating says we're good enough to get called up. I'm 18 years old and a 64 OVR and just got called up at the all-star break straight from AA. I'm the 3rd best centerfielder in the organization and I'm starting in the show for some reason. I haven't even started playing yet, I just got the call-up and came here to complain about this real quick because I know I'm going to struggle majorly against MLB pitching.
And the worst part is I'm going to play enough games in the majors to use up my rookie eligibility, but not enough games to actually put together a Rookie of the Year type season. I think most people who play this game would be interested in trying to win that award, but it's kind of impossible when you get called up mid-season (and especially when you're not ready). I mean how many 18 year olds get called up and skip AAA entirely? Just frustrating...Comment

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
Is there any way to buy points like we used to be able to? It has puzzled me why they'd take this out. It's not like RTTS is a mode where it's pay-to-win. It's completely single-user. If I want to pay $60 to create an 18-year old that's 99 overall right from the start I should be able to.
Additionally, I'm really not a fan of the way that we progress in general. I've said this many times, but players don't get better because they're stats improve. Players just get better (all the attributes) and the statistics coincide with their improved abilities.Comment

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
I will probably get blasted for this but since it doesn't really matter, I will share my thought on the subject.
First about everybody getting drafted by the Orioles. Well I'm sorry it kind of makes sense.
A. They are the worst team in Baseball without a single player in the field being above a mid 70's.
B. They have the first pick of the round.
C. Why would they not pick any fielder coming out of the draft that is an A or B rated hot prospect.
Take into account the added equipment bonus' and such and at Double A you are just about as good as any player on the team that is at the Major League level. Base Attributes my guy is a 72 add in the custom equipment and I am pushing 80 which makes me the best fielder in the organization. So of course you get called up to the Majors quickly.
Is this annoying, yeah I guess. But you CAN pick your own team, or ask for a trade. Don't use high bonus equipment. There are ways around it. I just don't see it as a flaw in the game. To me it seems to make sense.Last edited by Bullit; 04-08-2019, 08:06 AM.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

I love how they took away putting points where ever you wanted to put them and made points come and go by your personal gameplay. 100% love that!
I do agree they need to make it really hard to get to the majors. Afterall, in real life, alot of these guys struggle to make it up and most never do. For those players that want to get called up quickly, let them do that by playing on rookie or beginner. Let guys that actually welcome the challenge to make it challenging. Not impossible, but not be up at 18 yrs old 6 months into the season.
The trade and draft logic need to be totally redone. That is what I think needs to be fixed. I get that bad/rebuilding teams will grab you 9 out of 10 times. They are high in the draft for a reason afterall. However, a team isnt going to trade away a top player just because they have a 18 yr old 17th round stud waiting 1 year after being drafted. I think a little more thought needs to be put into AI, but they are headed in the right direction.Really wish sports games played to ratings!

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
When on base, you could use the left stick (Classic base running) to follow the ball. They took it out. Now I cant track how far I can advance. I had a instance last night, I could have made it from 1st to 3rd, but I had to stop at second because I couldnt see the CF miss the ball. You use to be able to hit the L stick left to track ball and right to eye base coach.Really wish sports games played to ratings!
