This!!! I love the dynamic camera on defense. I absolutely hate the offense dynamic camera. It frustrates me to no end I can’t use the defensive dynamic camera while I’m hitting. I’ve finally settled on Medium as my camera of choice while at the plate.

Yes I agree, I hate that the awesome new dynamic cam for users on defense is not the same for the CPU...I just do not get why? I hope they patch it because that pulled back cam makes fielding 10x better

Re: MLB The Show 19 First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

I do have to play more games to get more of a sample size and decision on this game. But, there are a few things I noticed with my short time with the game.

-Offline, the game is polished and plays beautifully. I love the defense, addition of camera (dynamic), and cut-scenes. I think this broadcast camera presentation was a must add this year for SDS to keep the game from feeling stale. The new cut scenes brings you closer to action and it adds to important moments. I do love that you can take it off if need to play the game rather quickly. Audio - mostly stadium sounds and crowds are way better. I think they did a solid job implementing that aspect of baseball into this years title.

I mostly play offline, so I think this game is a big improvement from last year and plays very very well.

In DD, I have mixed reviews. In the few games I was able to play before the end of March Season, I did like that attention to detail was placed on defense. Taking proper routes, etc is a big thing and could be costly if taken the wrong route. However, I did lose two games recently on botched double plays. One was with Correa - routine dribbler in front of him that he didnt have to move - he bobbles it and can't turn 2 to win game. Next batter, bases clearing double. I thought, oh well, it is what it is. A few games later, the same thing happens - this time with Seager as my SS. Same play, defender doesn't have to move and same bobble animation and can't turn 2 in a key inning. I later gave up a HR to give up the lead. I do like that they've placed importance on defense and secondary positions, but, like in previous years, these types of errors seem scripted/random. I've seen way too many animations of outfielders about to pick the ball up and fumble it with their throwing hands, ball goes behind them, and they trigger run back animation to go get it. Happened 3 times last DD game, my Outfield is Benintendi, Springer, Cespedes.

Hitting-wise, online DD I can't figure out. Last year, swing late and find success....this year seems to me that you pick a spot with PCI and swing as soon as possible and pray for contact. I had a few games where I was throwing sinkers almost in the dirt (way under strike zone) and opponent went Very Late - Squared up Contact?! find the right field fence on line drive.

Pitching (DD-online), still a work in progress. I have a decent rotation, but it seems strike outs are non-existent this year as well. There's no cat and mouse game between batter/hitter. You can paint corners, or throw low in dirt but still seeing a large % of foul balls on pitches where there's no way contact could be made. If you want K's just throw the high-outside strike zone-fastballs and go from there....but what fun is that?

I am still enjoying this game very much offline as I think it is a good improvement from last year. I did jump into DD a few years back and would love to play that mode more this year, but I highly doubt it. Need to play a few more weeks on DD and see how it goes.

Yes, very frustrating! If its a camera in the game, it should be usable.

This will be my last post in the impressions thread.

I've been playing this game for years, sitting and waiting....for THIS game.

I don't obsess, but will admit I'm a real graphics whore. I had a carryover franchise, but when I looked most of the managers and coaches (who were no longer in the data base) had been replaced with gargolyes created by SDS. Nothing takes me out of this beautifully rendered game like looking into the dugout to see Quasimodos cousin. So, I chose to use the default roster, took several hours to transfer FAs to their teams etc.

I chose the Braves this year and like to use a fantasy roster, so I took the likes of Brooklyn Bridges, Gabe Hougard, Dan Enfield, A.C. Read, Mike Will, Chris Mills, Nick Livingston, Joel Benjamin, Enoch Westover, etc., and edited them, plugged them onto the Braves team, keeping some of the real players like Acuna, Donaldson, Albies, etc. This lets me set up a fantasy team and it will do as we do not have a franchise expansion mode. Heck I even put the ancient one, Bartolo Colon in as a starter.

I play with 30 team control (make the roster moves everyday) auto field, manual throw, auto base running, classic pitching, no ball marker, no hot/cold zones, absolute clean a screen as I can get. Can't take the clutter (and it's wonderful that we've been given these options).

I use quick counts as it allows me to play a game faster and, with my age, eye sight, it just works out better (another option that sort of resembles March to October as I can go into quick manage and quickly move the game along, jumping in in a key situation). Although I must say I DO play out most of the games without the quick manage.

Now, with QC in mind, they added some BEAUTIFUL presentation with the pre-pitch presentation. Because I dramatically reduce the time it takes to play a full game with the QC I rarely X thru this added presentation. It's like a brand new game to watch. A 4K tv and PS Pro certainly helps.

SOTS works great this year, music seems balanced, glad I didn't throw away all my music sound files I had created for past games. Loving this.

The game play? What a noticeable difference, just the feel, as well as watching the variances on the field. Can't say enough.

It's a video game, and I really want to thank SDS because, FOR ME, JUST ME, and the way I play and enjoy this game....this is what I've been waiting for. They have given us a gift, can't please everyone, but man, a game with all these options? A game, not real life.

            Play ball.

Down 1 in the 9th with 2 out. Have a man on 2nd and I hit a liner to CF that gets trapped by the Center Fielder. The guy on second stops @ 3rd base and i have to hold L1 for 3 or 4 seconds before he starts moving to home.

While im holding L1 the batter starts running to second and gets tagged out before runner crosses the plate. Almost threw my *** **** controller across the room.

The new pre-pitch cameras show up when you play a game with QC enabled? I haven't seen them yet, unless I don't enable QC.

They work now on quick counts.
If you don't see them perhaps you have to mess with the settings.

I'm having the most fun with this year's game since MLB 16. On field gameplay is really doing it for me this year. Not really feeling RttS, though. Something about it feels like it regressed a little in terms of how it plays. I've been playing mostly Franchise and March to October.

Hitting feels better, I would say more difficult except for the fact that my numbers say the game is similar in difficulty. I'm striking out more at the plate, which is really, really nice to see. The past couple years of the game there were way too many poor contact outs and not enough strike outs. I am noticing more hit variety, and I'm scoring more off of non-home runs than in the past.

Pitching is still too easy I think. And the difficulty curve is still off. I go from dominating with even mid-rotation starters to getting rocked with any pitcher if I adjust the difficulty up one level. (Hall of Fame).

Overall, I expect this year's game to keep my interest well though the season and into NFL season.

Is there an option to turn off challenges? They’re so poorly done and only happen on plays at first base.

                          I don't believe so.

I was actually wondering if they were in the game this year because I have not seen one thru about 15 games and I've had some close plays at first.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I just had one on a play that wasn’t even challenge worthy. I was out by at least a full step, yet two innings earlier there was a much closer play with no challenge option. It’s just so random. At least give me the option to challenge a call myself. Although I probably never would. I don’t like it in real baseball and I don’t like it in the Show hahaha.

If you turn off Umpire Close Plays, that effectively turns off challenges. The only reviews I’ve ever seen are on foul or fair home run calls.
