I'm getting so impatient waiting for OSFM haha

Anyone know a good roster that is up already and has a lot of the big prospects?

There are 3 times you can resign players

        Spring Training
Trade Deadline prep phase during season
        Offseason

          Baseball, man.

Jacob de Grom, the reigning NL Cy Young and MVP is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in his first two starts of 2020.

Lost 2 of 3 to the Braves and finished the season-opening homestead 3-3. We hit the road for a 9-game stretch now.

I will be doing the Pirates and will have budgets off and 30 team control. I have a rule for doing no budgets but keeping it realistic. opening day payroll is about 75million. i will make the total budget around 90mil for trades/signings. every year the payroll goes up 10% until i reach 100million then it'll go up 5-7% every year.

With the real life Andrew Toles mess going on with the Dodgers I’m considering lowering all of his ratings and pushing him down to A in my carryover franchise. This will simulate his absence while counting against me at the same time. He’s doing a solid job right now as a backup outfielder for me, spelling Puig whenever it’s needed, so this would toss a interesting wrinkle in fictional baseball world.

              Thoughts?

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Started my franchise with the Blue Jays and it’s been an up and down start. Firstly, took 3 of 4 from the Tigers, but then only managed one game against Baltimore who I expected to beat up on. Currently sitting 4-3 on the year.

I felt the need to get a couple of veteran hitters, so I grabbed Carlos Gomez off waivers from the Mets after he was placed on optional waivers. Signed Evan Gattis to platoon and give me some power against lefties. The plan is for him to have the rare start at C, but I plan to bring McGuire or Maile up soon to give me another C on the roster.

I think I’ll trade Kevin Pillar to free up a roster spot. Gomez has hit well and I have Alford who is ready to play. Pillar is hitting .237 to start the year with his usual defence.

                Lineup:
                Drury 3B
                Grichuck RF
                Hernandez LF
                Smoak 1B
                Tellez DH
                2B Gurriel Jr
                CF Pillar
                C Jansen
                SS Galvis

                Bench: Gomez, Gattis, Sogard, McKinney

                Rotation:
                Stroman
                Sanchez
                Shoemaker
                Thornton
                Richard

                Bullpen:
                Giles
                Norris
                Mayza
                Barnes
                Biagini
                Pannone
                Hudson

IL: Borucki, Travis, Bucholtz, Pompey, Tepera

like Brendan Rodgers (col) for James Paxton (yank)
or trea turner (was) for yoan Moncada (whs)

Red Hot Cubs Come Back Against Brewers

Albert Almora Jr. hit a game tying solo homer off Josh Hader in the bottom of the 9th and a two out Kris Bryant double followed by an Anthony Rizzo RBI single won it in the 11th. It was Josh Hader’s second blown save of the early season. The Cubs are now 6-1 on the year having won six straight since their opening day loss at Texas. The Brewers fell to 4-4.

Just lost Oscar Tavares to a fractured wrist he suffered crashing into the wall. He is on the 60 Day IL. Jeremy Hazelbaker will take his place on the 40 man roster and in Spring Training.

Frustrating start to the 2019 season. Lost 2 out of 3 to Baltimore just like the real life Yankees but was so close to winning both of those games.

                          Opening Day: Severino vs Ynoa
Severino was awful, only made it through 4.2 innings and gave up 4 runs. I don’t get it, I just struggle to pitch with Severino for some reason. Scored 2 in the 5th off a Gardner triple bringing home Torres and LeMahieu. Holder, Britton, Ottavino, and Betances locked down their offense for the rest of the game after Severino was pulled. Fast forward to the bottom of the 9th down 4-2. Givens enters and walks Sanchez. After a Torres K Givens throws a wild one advancing Sanchez to 2nd. LeMahieu hits a grounder and it deflects off 2B Villar giving him a single! Sanchez goes to 3B.

Runners on first and third 1 out. Tulowitzki DRIVES one deep to left center! Didn’t have quite enough on it as it ended up bouncing over the wall for a ground rule double...which actually saved them. It made sure only one run could score on the play. It held the tying run at third and the winning run at second. Tanner Scott came in and Hicks worked a walk setting up Judge and Stanton with 1 out and the bases loaded. Judge struck out and Stanton flew out to end it.
If that ball landed/bounced a little differently and didn’t go over the wall it at the very least goes to extras and they very likely don’t survive the inning. Yankees lose 4-3.

                          Game 2: Paxton Vs Bundy
After a day off we came back and played an overall solid game against them. A very good first impression from Paxton in his Yankee debut as he shut out the Orioles through 8 innings. Scored 3 in the 6th. Judge doubled home Gardner and Torres doubled in Stanton and Andujar. Gardner drove in Tulo with a double in the third. Chapman closed it out in the 9th. Yankees win 4-0.

Game 3: Tanaka Vs Karns. A pitchers duel. Karns only went 5, holding us to a solo HR from Sanchez. Tanaka dominated through 6.1 innings and was pulled after giving up a single in the 7th. Britton got the final 2 outs in the inning. Kimbrel entered in the 8th up 1-0...and got taken deep for a game tying HR by Sucre. Double agent Kimbrel? Burned through the rest of the pen just to lose in the 12th. Yankees lose 2-1.

They finally scored off Holder on a suicide squeeze. I hate that strategy so much. CPU does it every. Single. Time. in that situation. Pretty sure it doesn’t even matter who the hitter is, they always do it anyway. I don’t end up in the situation often enough to remember it’s coming so it normally works perfectly.

Well, next is 3 vs Detroit. Hopefully the HR’s start coming.

The Braves picked up Matt Carpenter in my franchise after we parted ways with him. Forgot to update that earlier.

We have some decisions to make as Spring Training is about half way complete. I'm figuring on having to make more tough decisions, like the one with Carpenter, in the coming weeks.

This is way I enjoy playing Spring Training. I go into Spring with an idea of who is going to play where, both position and level. Then ST plays out and things "don't go as planned".

Case in point...I just knew that I was going to move DeJong in the offseason but held on to him. We signed Tulo to a single year deal to be our SS while we developed the young guys. Tulo gets hurt, 10 Day IL, and DeJong is making the most of all his opportunities. DeJong is currently hitting over .300 and is flashing the leather in the field. Question now is do we make DeJong the everyday SS as he was, or do we stick with Tulo who's not having the best of camps, but is fully capable of turning things around. If we decide to keep DeJong as the everyday SS, then moving Tulo almost has to happen as he's not going to be happy sitting the bench (reason we let go of Carpenter). If we start Tulo then DeJong takes up a spot we had on the bench for Kike, Greg Garcia, Eliser Alvarez, and/or Edmundo Sosa, which then puts a strain on what we do at the lower levels.

We have that and we also have the outfield getting crowded again.

                            Decisions...decisions...

Ouch! My minor league players have hit the injury bug this season. It’s actually kind of nice to see.

I love this as well. Have a 27-year old rookie in camp who never pitched above AA, but has absolutely nasty stuff and is lighting it up out of the bullpen. 2 weeks left to go in spring and he has a legit chance to make the team if he keeps it up.
