Vlad and Bo are killing it so far, Bo over .330 and Vlad at .290. Grichuk has 29 RBI and 9 HR's already. Gyorko has been a massive addition, hitting .330 with 25 RBI. Drury has stepped in and his hitting .440 with 6hr and 23 RBI.

I am very impressed with the offense so far, and we began May losing the first 6 games, and I was worried we were headed for the downfall.

Rotation is doing well, Stroman is 5-2 with a 2.20, Sanchez has a 3.10, SHoemaker has aa 2.50. The 4 & 5 are struggling a bit, but still putting some quality outings together.

Bo Sox are still 3 up (26-14) and dont look to slow down anytime soon. Draft is about 23 days away. Hoping we can keep playing competitive baseball.
Played alot the last week. Things went downhill for the Jays in June and July. Completely falling out of the race with the Red Sox and the Wild Card.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was my lone All Star. Vlad Jr made a push to get on the team hitting .320 at the break with 10 hr's and 35 RBI. Saving him the first 20 games likely cost him a spot.

Late July came around and I decided to sell, CP Ken Giles was traded for Riley Pint of COL. Nice young prospect to develop. Rowdy Tellez came back from injury and there was now a logjam at 1B with Gyorko/Smoak/Tellez. Smoak was traded for a B potential RP prospect.

The Blue Jays played .500 ball in August and September despite Sanchez and Stroman struggling in the 2nd half. Stroman was 7-3 with a 2.3ERA at the break. Finished 11-11 with a 3.77.

I finished 2019 with a 73-89 record playing one game a series, Mike Lowe Sliders. Some highlights

Vlad wins ROTY with a line of .350AVG, 18HR, 74 RBI
Bo came in 2nd with a line of: .267, 12 HRs, 56 RBI, 17 SB
    Gyorko was a massive addition: .295, 28HRS, 105 RBI
Gurriel JR All star with a line of: .312, 8HR's, 45 RBI

Jays offense was much better then expected. 4th in the MLB in average and hits. Starting rotation struggled, Shoemaker and Borucki had over a 5 ERA, Young pitcher Thornburg threw a respectable 4.3ERA. The bullpen was atrocious and was the true downfall of the team, not a single reliever had under a 3.2ERA.

    Draft:
    1st RD: SP Burris, A 98 potential 21 years old. 68 Overall
2nd RD: LF McMahon, A 92 Potential, 19 yrd old, 74 Overall, 65+ power both sides already, with 77 speed, and over 70 fielding. Only 40's contact

Red Sox dominated with 110 wins and won the World Series over the Dodgers.

    Blue Jays offseason time.

      *BASEBALL HEAVEN*

      ***

      FROM THE CARDINALS PERSPECTIVE

A 2019 DREAM-CHISE WITH ALL LEGENDS INCORPORATED INTO THEIR RESPECTIVE ORGANIZATIONS

      ***

      Spring Brings Amazing New Life
      ( with major egos!)
      ****Continued****

Over the next few days the rest of the team including the other historic invites would arrive. The list of proven Cardinal heros who have all wrote their own epic stories once; that now populate almost every position on the practice field, make the opportunities for those that before felt little doubt about their roles, feel almost impossible to attain. The complete list of Cardinal legends that have decided to take this journey are as follows:

      SP- Bob Gibson
      CP- Bruce Sutter
      C/ 1B- Yadier Molina
1B/ (3B, RF, LF)- Albert Pujols
2B/ (INF, OF, anywhere)- Rogers Hornsby
      SS- Ozzie Smith
      LF/ (RF, 1B)- Stan Musial
      LF/ (RF, CF)- Lou Brock
      RF/ LF- Enos Slaughter

Wow! What an impressive and intimidating group to say the least! “How can this even be fair that we are so stacked? “ Said Tyler O’Neil when asked what his first impressions of the squad were. But as reports about other participating invites from the rest of the league started coming in, it became clear this league would be no picnic. Just a glance inside their own division and in particular at the biggest rival Cubs team, and there was a collective silence and moment of clarity about the mountain of a task ahead. Cubs invites (outside their already stacked lineup) looked something like this:

      SP- Mark Prior
      RP- Fergie Jenkins
      RP- Bruce Sutter (Young version)
      RP- Kerry Wood
      CP- Lee Smith
      2B- Ryne Sandburg
      SS- Ernie Banks
      LF- Billy Williams

(Ridiculous pitching! Especially in the pen obviously!)

      Reds invites:

      RP- Rob Dibble
      C- Jonny Bench
      1B- Tony Perez
      2B- Joe Morgan
      SS- Barry Larkin
      RF- Ken Griffey Sr.

      Pirates invites:

      C- Jason Kendall
      1B- Willie Stargell
      2B- Bill Mazeroski
      LF- Ralph Kiner
      CF- Andrew McCutchen
      RF- Dave Parker

      Brewers invites:

      3B- Paul Molitor
      SS- Robin Yount
      LF- Ryan Braun (Young version)

Remember, these invites plug into the rosters of already in place 2019 super stars. When lineups are viewed in their entirety they can be almost frightening! Lol

Obviously the word “stacked” would have to be redefined! The new question was how our beloved Cardinals measured up to the rest of the stacks! Time to check egos at the gate! One great thing about this group of Cardinal invites, is they are all of ********* character, and absolute professionals. They all seem to embrace the opportunity to help every level of the organization. “The Cardinal Way” is evident in every player regardless of the era they called home. Certain players stood out immediately as almost father figures and mentors such as Stan and especially Rogers, who even Stan and Eno looked up to without question! And the 21 year old (rookie) version of Albert felt just as intimidated as any of them. He obviously still felt a need to prove himself like anybody else. Goldshmidt seemed completely unworried about how that would affect his role. “I go out and work hard, do my part to help this team however that works out. Same as we’ve all done since little league. That’s how it works! I’m lucky to be surrounded by so much talent to learn from!”

How does a player still developing his craft even think he can compete with this group for a spot. Initial excitement quickly turns to a nervous, anxious and extremely competitive locker room. Mike Shildt explained his take in an interview by stating, “The PCL will be as competitive as any MLB season was! It’s gonna be a fun year for those teams and cities as well! Honestly I wouldn’t consider playing there any less satisfying as an athlete. But as always, our organization gives opportunity to those that earn it. ALWAYS! That will be no different here!”

So the stage is set, and it’s time to play it out. Let the games begin!

          **TRADE ALERT**

The Phillies and Rockies have agreed to the first significant trade of the 2022 season.

          Phillies Get

          SP - Carter Stewart
          OF - Corey Dickerson

          Rockies Get

          CP - Seranthony Dominguez

I like this trade by the Rockies. Their starting pitching depth is deep and Corey Dickerson wasn't really a factor. Plus the Rockies are all but out of the playoffs already. Getting Dominguez improves an average at best bullpen.

I don't understand this trade by the Phillies. They are surprisingly still in contention for the playoffs but just traded away one of their top bullpen pieces. Getting Carter Stewart helps deepen starting pitching, and they needed an outfielder, just think they gave up too much on this trade.

Will be interesting to see how this one plays out over the course of this season and next.

I just cannot get anything going this year, I find ways to lose constantly. I just lost a game where I had a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth with two outs and no one on. Routine ground ball to Baez... error. Next batter, home run. I manage to tie the game in the top of the ninth but then, like clockwork, walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth.

That makes me 1-7 over my last 8 games, including a six-game losing streak. I’m 18-22 on the year and the most games I’ve won consecutively is three. I have never, ever had this much of an issue winning games.

I feel like the game is just generally more difficult this year.

After the fun but fierce and intense battles of spring training to claim a spot on the parent club, it was time to make the hard decisions. Alex Reyes had sprained a finger and would miss the first couple weeks of the season, but had done enough already to reserve his spot. But this also bought some extra time for the others that were still on the bubble. (Waino, Wacha and Flaherty). Gibby, Micholas and Martínez had nothing left to prove at this point. The team had an outside hope that Gomber might suddenly blossom, mainly because they have no left handed pitching at all outside of Miller in the pen, who was leaving little doubt that he was the obvious best option as Closer. But Gomber was clearly just not ready yet for this level of competition. So the opening day rotation would look like this:

                                Gibson
                                Micholas
                                Martinez
                                Wacha
                                Flaherty
                                Wainwright (long relief/ spot starter)

The infield was certainly more challenging! But ultimately came down to this as the “main” lineup:

                                C: Molina
                                1B: Pujols
                                2B: Hornsby
                                3B: Carpenter
                                SS: Ozzie

Against lefties Goldshmidt would play 1B and Pujols would move to 3B. Wong would remain as a bench option, but other big names such as DeJong and Gyorko would be Memphis bound.

In the outfield, there was little to be argued about with Musial, Brock and Slaughter on the squad. Except who would shift to center, and Brock’s wheels really made that decision easy. The bigger question was who to keep on the bench as backups and who to send to Memphis. Ultimately the decision to make sure Bader and O’Neil continued playing everyday and developing their skills in Memphis was made. So between Ozuna, Jose Martinez and Fowler only 2 could remain. Fowler drew the short straw and was sent to complete the Memphis outfield. What a team the aaa affiliate would field for the Memphis crowd!

The final bullpen decisions weren’t easy! Miller surprisingly made the closer choice a no brainer. And the setup roles filled rather naturally with Sutter and Hicks, but middle relief was not so clear. The 3 kept were:

                                Gregerson
                                Brebbia
                                Leone

Last spot came down to Leone or Gant

Gant would go to Memphis and serve as Closer to start the year
