When you carryover to the new version, when you start a new season in the new version, you will get the current year real life schedule.

        Cardinals drop series to Angels

The Cardinals dropped 2 of 3 games to the Angels in Los Angeles. The Cardinals had a rough outing with their pitching staff as Kyle Funkhouser struggled to win game 1 and Tim Lincecum got beat up in the series finale. The bullpen wasn't much better, as they struggled in Michael Wacha's win.

Accompany that with cold bats and you have a mixture to lose a series, if not get swept. Thankfully the Cardinals salvaged game 2 with outstanding defense.

In the series Harrison Bader continues to struggle going 0 for 7 with 5 strikeouts. He didn't play game 2 as C.J. McElroy got the start.

Patrick Wisdom hit his 60th homerun in the series finale against the Angels. He is well on his way to his second straight National League MVP award.

The Cardinals will travel to San Diego for the weekend to conclude the west coast trip. The Padres are fighting to stay alive in the postseason.

        Orioles clinch playoff berth

The Orioles have clinched a spot into the 2023 postseason with their victory yesterday afternoon. The Orioles who are 93-55, have clinched at least a wildcard spot, although they are currently 7 games up on the Blue Jays for the American League East.

The Orioles missed out on the playoffs last year, but are back and have a team that could get to the ALCS and the World Series.

Cardinals take series against Padres. Magic number 4

The Cardinals took 2 out of 3 from the Padres in Petco Park to win the series and cut their magic number to 4, to win the Central division. The Cardinals lead both the Pirates and the Cubs by 8 1/2 games.

The Cardinals dropped the series opener on Friday, but won Saturday and Sunday behind terrific pitching performances by Jack Flaherty and Kyle Funkhouser. Flaherty earned his 14th win of the season which is good for 3rd in the National League. Kyle Funkhouser earned his major league leading 19th win of the season on Sunday. Funkhouser will pitch Saturday in Busch against the Marlins to try and earn his 20th win. If not then, he could pitch again this regular season on normal rest against the Reds on September 26th, in the final series of the year.

Patrick Wisdom hit his 61st homerun of the season and is now hitting .288 with 61 homeruns and 130 RBI's. The Cardinals have 12 games left so its not out of the realm of possibility that Wisdom gets to 70 homeruns and 150 RBI's but unlikely especially if they clinch the Central soon.

The Cardinals will travel to Pittsburgh to conclude this road trip for a 3 game series starting tomorrow, before returning home this weekend to face the Marlins. The Cardinals could put the Pirates out of contention for the NL Central championship with a sweep.

          Remaining schedule:

          3 @ PIT
          3 vs MIA
          3 vs CHC
          3 @ CIN

Nervous times in Atlanta as the Reds take Game 1 of the NLDS, 4-1. Acuña and Albies had back-to-back doubles to lead off the game, but we could do nothing against Alex Wood after that.

I used Fast Play as the presentation during the regular season, but switched to Hybrid for the playoffs. All the extra stuff really added to the playoff atmosphere. If I make it to the World Series, I'm going to use Full Broadcast there.

I'm curious, on fast play can you play a game in 45 minutes as the game suggests? I've only ever used broadcast and I never skip anything and my games average at about 1 hour and 45 minutes long.

It usually takes me just under an hour to play on Fast Play.

Yes, and with Quick Counts, I can finish a game right around 30-40 min.

Cardinals take series against Pirates..clinch spot in postseason

The Cardinals took the final two games of the 3 game series with the Pirates in Pittsburgh to win the series and have punched their ticket to October. After missing the postseason last season, a year removed from appearing in the World Series, the Cardinals will be playing baseball in October.

The Cardinals bullpen was troublesome in this series as they blew late leads in games 1 and 2 of the series, but Carlos Martinez pitched 7 1/3 innings in game 3 and Joe Kelly found some of that old magic and recorded the final 4 outs to secure the win. The Cardinals were able to come back in game 2 of the series and win in 10 innings and Trevor Rosenthal recorded his 31st save of the season.

Tim Lincecum left his start in the 2nd inning with shoulder discomfort and will not pitch any more in the regular season as the Cardinals want to ensure he is healthy for what they hope is a deep October run.

Carson Kelly is again dinged up as he pulled a leg muscle in batting practice. He is listed as day to day. The Cardinals are off tomorrow before returning home to face the Marlins over the weekend as the Cardinals look to clinch the Central division and home field advantage. The Cardinals currently lead the division by 8 1/2 games over the Cubs and have a 10 game lead over the Dodgers for the best record in the National League. The Cardinals just need a Dodgers loss or to win one more game this year to secure home field advantage.

The Cardinals have a few things left to accomplish this season, but it does feel good to have punched your ticket with 11 days left to go in the regular season.

seems as though I have hit a wall in my franchise. for the life of me, I can't get into the game right now. It isn't like I have been blowing it up playing lately. Other than that span of days when I was posting in here semi-regularly for a small bit.

This seems to happen to me at least once a year lately. it feels like burn out but I'm not sure. I have had several attempts at playing. just to shut it off mid-game...

I think it is time to take it back to basics and (hate to say it but) go back to rookie and not stress so much during the game. This happened to me last year after I went to AS from rookie. about the same time in the season...

Funkhouser wins 20th..Cardinals clinch Central and Home Field

Behind a dominant performance by Kyle Funkhouser, who won his 20th game of the year, the Cardinals clinched the National League Central division title as well as locked up home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Funkhouser went 7 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 13 and issuing zero free passes against the Marlins in Busch Stadium Saturday night. This will likely be Funkhouser's final start as the Cardinals have everything locked up they wanted, except for possibly 100 wins.

With 7 games left to play and things locked up, its likely the Cardinals will turn to non-playoff roster players and pitchers to get through the remainder of the season. The Cardinals will certainly not rest their everyday players all 7 games, but they will take on a far lighter work load from now and until the NLDS starts.

Funkhouser has been mentioned by manager Mike Matheny as being the #1 starter in the NLDS over veterans Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez.

Sometimes you gotta learn how to get through a slump and deal with the consequences. In the big leagues guys don't get to adjust the difficulty setting when they're going 1 for 20 for a week. Most season's don't play out as planned for the majority of big league teams. They have to adjust and make new plans for the team. Remember it's a franchise and not a single season. If it falls apart, maybe it's time to plan for next season's team. Or maybe you grind a couple weeks and get hot then you find yourself right back in it. Embrace the ebbs and flows of your franchise.

Cardinals place Strop and Kelly on outright waivers

With the Cardinals locking up the NL Central and home field advantage, they have decided to place RHP's Joe Kelly and Pedro Strop on outright waivers and recall younger arms to pitch and evaluate over the season's final few days.

Both Strop and Kelly were signed to provide depth and stability to a very unreliable bullpen down the stretch. Both served that purpose, and since neither is available for postseason play, the Cardinals have decided to remove them from the 40 man roster and recall Ryan Hasely and Giovanny Gallegos to pitch over the final few days.

Kyle Funkhouser will start Game 1 of NLDS

Even though the NLDS isn't for another week or so and the Cardinals have no idea who their opponent will be (they will face wildcard winner), the Cardinals have named Kyle Funkhouser as the starter for Game 1 of the NLDS. The 29 year old Funkhouser had an outstanding year going 20-4 with a 2.82 ERA and 247 strikeouts. Funkhouser is believed to be the front runner for the 2023 NL Cy Young award.

The Cardinals were deciding between Funkhouser and veterans Wacha and Martinez to start the series, but ultimately decided on Funkhouser due to him being the most consistent pitcher in the Cardinals rotation this season.

Why are Kelly and Strop unavailable for post- season play? Were they signed too late?
