MLB THE SHOW 18 - 2017 REGULAR SEASON

Coming off an Opening Day Win and a much needed days rest the REDS were ready to resume the series vs the Phillies.

      GAME 2 - REDS RECORD (1-0)

CIN SP Matt Belisle vs PHI SP Jerad Eickhoff

SP Matt Belisle was acquired through a trade with Minnesota this Off Season, the REDS sent RP Drew Storen in exchange. Belisle was a RED back in 2003-08 and was on the top of the MUST HAVE BACK list of owner Ed Ead Stroke. Belisle has had some experience as a STARTER, mostly when he was a RED, but has spent much of his career coming out of the pen. When asked by the REDS if he would like to give being a STARTER another chance, Belisle was estatic for the chance. Belisle has been busy building up his stamina, but has a little way to go still. This will be Matt's first start since 2014 Season when he was with Colorado and started vs Cincinnati, hmmm!

Belisle would have a great day on the mound, he would pitch 7 and 1/3 innings, allow no RUNS while striking out 7 Phillies. "He looked great", said manager Bryan Price. Not until the 8TH would Phillie string a couple hits together and threaten the RED's 3-0 lead. Price would bring in RP Michael Lorenzen who would strike out the last two batters and not allow Belisle's base runners to score, thus preserving Belisle scoreless start.

The REDS would score 1 RUN in the bottom of 1ST, then 2 more in the 4TH on a SS Zack Cozart 2 RUN HOMERUN. This 3-0 lead would definitely allow Belisle some breathing room to work. After snuffing out a Phillies rally in the top of the 8TH, the REDS would add an insurance run in the bottom of the 8TH.

Price would leave RP Lorenzen out on the mound for the 9TH, as only Lorenzen could qualify for a SAVE with the score now being 4-0. Lorenzen would get the first two batters out, striking out one, BUT the Phillies would score 1 RUN and thus breaking up the SHUTOUT. Lorenzren would retire the final batter and getting the SAVE. Belisle earning the WIN.

Final score 4-1, REDS. The REDS would improve to 2-0. Final game tomorrow vs PHI, as ROOKIE SP Robert Stephenson will "toe the rubber" for the REDS who look for a Opening Series Sweep. Let us hope so!

Cardinals place Jack Flaherty on 60 Day IL

Injuries continue to add up for the Cardinals as they placed SP Jack Flaherty on the 60 Day IL due to broken forearm.

Flaherty suffered the injury in the 7th inning of his start against the Giants when Ryder Jones lined a ball back up the middle striking Flaherty in the forearm. He is expected to be back around the All-Star Break.

Flaherty joins C.J McElroy, Juan Fabregas, and Harrison Bader on the lengthy injured list. The Cardinals expect to have Bader and McElroy back around the start of June.

MLB THE SHOW 18 - 2017 REGULAR SEASON

The REDS are looking to sweep the Phillies in a three game Opening Series to start the new season off. New owner Ed Eads Troke, who purchased the REDS this off season, made himself available for a quick interview before the game. "This would be great to take the broom to the Phillies, not only for myself, but the team and most importantly the fans who deserve it. Especially those who came out to root for the REDS, as this has been some cold, wet and just plain crappy weather we have had to start the season."

          GAME 3 -
          REDS RECORD (2-0)

CIN SP Robert Stephenson vs PHI SP Jeremy Hellickson

Reds send ROOKIE SP Robert Stephenson to the mound in this one, even though Stephenson was up and down between REDS and Triple A BATS last year, he only logged 37 innings in THE BIGS and posted an ERA of 6.08. Really nothing special, but he did pitch well during ST.

Things did not start out how Stephenson and the REDS probably envisioned it. The Phillies scored early in the top of the 2ND and again in the 4TH. It could have been the bad weather or some "UNKNOWN SUPER NATURAL FORCE" but signs were there it was going to be one of those games for the REDS.

Robertson would pitch 5 innings with 2 RUNS scoring but only allowing 1 EARNED RUN. THe REDS would tie 2-2 in the bottom of the 4TH when LF Andrew Benintendi, who pinch hit for Stephenson, would HOMER and then a JACK by 1B Joey Votto.

The REDS would take a 3-2 lead in the 5TH, but Phillie would tie it in the top of the 6TH. Then the REDS EXPLODED in the bottom of the 6TH for 4 RUNS to take the lead again 7-3. The REDS never gave up the lead for the rest of the game, but both teams tacked on more runs. The finall score was the REDS 9-6.

Votto would go deep twice in this game and RF Jay Bruce would join the HOMER PARTY with one of his own.

SP Brandon Finnegan would get the controversial WIN coming out of the pen by allowing a tying run to score and thus a BLOWN SAVE. But would benefit and qualify for the WIN from the REDS taking the lead again before he exited.

REDS visit the Cardinals for three games and then on to Pittsburgh for 3 games.

          MINOR LEAGUE NOTES -

AAA Louisville Bats (0-1) - Lost to Columbus Clipper 3 -4

AA Pensacola Blue Wahoos (1-0) - Win againt Tennessee BayBears 7-3

Cardinals have now lost 5 straight

The Cardinals rough start to the 2024 season continues as they were swept by the Reds to start the week and now have lost 5 straight games and 3 straight series.

About the only positive in all of this has been the starting pitching, but other than that, the Cardinals are just playing poor baseball at the moment. Errors, not getting timely hits, and bullpen blow ups have all attributed to the current losing streak.

The Cardinals are still trying to figure out the outfield situation and find production in center field and left field. The Cardinals signed Aaron Hicks to a one year deal, but thus far he hasn't produced at the plate (.053 avg) and has committed 3 errors in just 9 games. Jose Adolis Garcia started off productive in left, but has dropped off. Oscar Mercado has been good in the field but a liability at the plate.

The Cardinals did get a boost when they started Dylan Carlson in center and let him lead off. In 3 games Carlson is 6 for 9 at the plate with 4 walks and 3 runs scored. He's been solid defensively as well and is expected to maintain this position, hopefully until McElroy and Bader return in about 6 weeks.

As for the bullpen the Cardinals just don't have an answer as Osuna, Burdi, Hicks, and Rosenthal have all struggled with Corey Littrell really being the only reliable arm in the pen thus far. Robby Scott and Mike Mayers have been serviceable in their appearances.

The Cardinals will look to break the streak as they host the Giants for a 4 game series over the weekend.

              Cardinals DFA Kevin Siegrist

The Cardinals have designated LHP Kevin Siegrist for assignment. The 36 year old was given a minor league contract and invited to Spring Training. He made the 40 man roster out of camp but was assigned to Memphis to start the season.

But Siegrist has struggled in the first few weeks and the Cardinals have made the decision to remove him from the 40 man and will most likely outright release Siegrist who is expected to then retire.

                MILWAUKEE BREWERS FRANCHISE MODE

                Start of Season Preview

                ROSTER:
                • We have 5 potential second basemen and SS. With Oneil Cruz cracking the roster look for the Brewers to potentially make some moves
                • Lorenzo Cain, Yasmani Grandal, and Christian Yelich *should* have rebound years, but if a decline continues to happen, expect Cannon to look at shopping one of those core players in a bid to shed salary/attain more outfielders.
                • Speaking of outfielders, with their next option being DIllon Thomas, The Brewers could also use a 4th outfielder. While Grisham-Cain-Yelich is an excellent outfield, depth is necessary and a bit more power on the field could be helpful.

                DRAFT
                1. Choo Kwon. Jude Taylor. Jeremy Cisneros. Javier Pineda. Gabe Haas. Glenn Thompson. Gil Sanchez. These are the 6 prospects that make up the upper echelon of the draft class. Kwon, especially, has drawn attention for his HOF-level contact potential while being well above average defensively for a 3rd baseman. Expect many teams to be hoping he goes to their team, or falls to him.
                2. The Brewers are juuuuust nestled out of that upper echelon of top draft prospects. As has been a theme for the past 2 years at the draft, expect the Brewers to go for an outfielder when its their turn on the stage. With the recent history of drafting College players, Cannon is believed to want to target a prime HS player.
                3. Pitching is also a concern for the Brewers, along with this class. This is one of the first years in the past decade with very little in terms of pitching talent at the top. With a constant need for pitching, a few teams could jump on an arm that impresses them in interviews.

                OTHER:
-Adbert Alzolay was on waivers and the Brewers placed a claim. He is now a Brewer, and will report to Triple A.

                  March 20th, 2021

                  MILWAUKEE BREWERS FRANCHISE MODE

                  Prospect Profiles #1: Oneil Cruz

Starting off our prospect profiles is the #1 prospect in our system and 21st league-wide, Shortstop Oneil Cruz. Cruz was acquired from the Pirates in a deal that saw us acquire both Cruz and RP Chris Stratton (who went unsigned) for SS Brice Turang and a meh SP prospect.

Cruz projects to be an excellent bat at the major league level, boasting plus power, contact, and plate vision in comparison to his peers. He especially excels at hitting right-handed pitching, which is why he currently only sees playing time at the moment over Arcia when a righty takes the opposing mound. At 6'6 he has that rangy form that gives him a lot of coverage in the slot which when coupled with his strong arm makes him a threat to beat fast baserunners to get a difficult out. He's also indimidatingly fast, boasting sprint speeds of 20-22 MPH whilst straight line breaking. His size, bat, speed, and fielding make him a very interesting prospect for the Brewers future.\

Long-term he projects as an above average shortstop, who may not reach that star level but still produces well above his positional average. He will likely remain as a SS throughout his major league career, but also has the capability to play some third base as well. With Arcia coming closer to form, Keston Hiura potentially moving around the infield, and 8th overall selection Haruno Aoki already looking like a star selection, he could eventually find himself on the basepaths as other players match/go past his defensive capabilities. His bat and arm also places him as a potential corner outfielder if the infield gets too crowded or we feel he fits best there as he develops.

Cruz is certainly worth the #1 prospect tag and should very well be a huge contributor for the Brewers as they build towards a world series.

Quick update, and I know it's been a while since I've posted anything here.

I'm nearing the end of the season in year 2 with just 3 games left in the season. Current Record is 87-72. First place in the NL Central and a win clinches the division on the 3rd to last day of the regular season. Already with 13 more wins than year 1, and a post season appearance coming up, this season has been much better than year 1.

I'll be streaming the post season once it starts and I'll try to post updates as well.

                            Cardinals split series with Giants

The Cardinals ended their streak of both losing series and of 7 straight loses, by beating the Giants on Saturday and Sunday to split a 4 game weekend series with the Giants in St.Louis.

The Cardinals bullpen continues to be a sore spot for this club as they blew Friday's game, blew the lead Saturday but the Cardinals walked it off in the 9th, and nearly blew Sunday's game, but Patrick Wisdom made an outstanding grab on a line drive that would've tied the game to double up the runners and end the game.

The Cardinals bats have left something to be desired in this series as well, as they just cannot get hits in timely situations and are near the bottom in every offensive category thus far in the National League.

The Cardinals will now hit the road for 3 in Cincinnati starting Monday. They are off on Thursday and then travel to Atlanta for a 3 game weekend series with the Braves.

The Cardinals stand at 10-13 on the year currently 5 1/2 games behind the NL Central leading Cubs.

Cardinals place Zack Burdi on 10 Day IL

The injury bug strikes again as this time its RHP Zack Burdi heading to the IL. He experienced elbow discomfort on Sunday and will be placed on the 10 day IL as he's expected to be down a week. The Cardinals purchased the contract of Miles Mikolas from Memphis and recalled him to the big league club. Mikolas will pitch out of the bulllpen.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It's time guys! RED OCTOBER IS HERE.

Finished the regular season at 88-74. Exact opposite record as year 1. Clinched the division before the final game of the season with a Reds lost and won the game anyway with all my backups in.

But now it's time. Time to play my best baseball in October. Game 1 of the NLDS vs the Dodgers is about to go live right now on Twitch. LETS GO!
Streaming all 162 games of my MLB 22 Franchise on Twitch! Come hang out!
