Been wanting 1-0, 0-1, and 0-0 count quick count pitches forever. I think the simmed pitches in quick counts are not counted as full in over all pitch counts. i.e. pitcher has 80 pitches thrown, next batter starts 2-2 count, the pitch count would be 82 or 83. not 100% certain the ratio used, but they're definitely not all counted. Also helps in my experience to bump up starter stamina +2 for me and CPU in this mode for realism.

A pitch is subtracted from his pitch count after each batter.

Two things that really piss me off. One, if i have manual defensive shifting set, DONT F****** MOVE MY PLAYERS. Like, Hunter Dozier hits to literally all parts of the field, WHY TF WOULD YOU HAVE AN EXTREME SHIFT TO THE LEFT ON FOR HIM. It made what would otherwise be a routine chopper to the first baseman a double, because the CPU f***** up my defenders' positioning when i told it not to!

And two, Classic pitching on any difficulty higher than All-Star is absolutely ****. It seems like no matter how long i hold the button, no matter where i try to place pitches, its getting blasted.

Why does this game turn into a Japanese RPG out of nowhere when someone gets hurt? A text pop-up? That’s it? Really? 15 years doing a billion hours of mo-cap work nobody thought to put in some injury animations/cutscenes?

I’m chuckling here so don’t read that like I’m being a whiny brat, but for real, that’s a pretty glaring gap in the presentation.

And while I’m here, similar topic, I can’t believe we still don’t have a cutscene for user mound-visits.
        Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

For me, 19 was in my top 3 sports games ever played hours wise. Only Madden 12 and NCAA 14 have more cumulative hours played than 19. I found myself truly immersed within my franchises in last year's game.

I find myself feeling different about 20. I can't immerse myself in my main franchise even though it is a carry over and I am invested in my players or even new franchises I have tried. Something about it just feels different to me. It may be I am expecting the same thing in terms of immersion in my franchises in 19 and I am not getting it this year.

I think 20 is definitely a good game but I find myself struggling to really get into it. I don't know. It's hard to describe. For me 19 was the best baseball game ever and maybe that is clouding me. And who knows maybe it is just the state of things outside of this that is removing that fire.

I am not giving up on 20 by any means. I just haven't found that fire I had last year in 19.

Hoping that passion for the game returns.

My experience with 20, specifically Franchise mode, has been similar. Just can't get into the mode this year. I've been occupying my time playing March to October, which has been a lot of fun. Think I just needed a change of pace after playing over 700 games in Franchise between 18 and 19.

Whenever I make a mound visit there is a cutscene with the coach and all the infielders having a conference on the mound.

This is in franchise mode BTW.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread

My impressions? Well, while it is great and kind of professional, it lacks of a lot of information becoming overwhelming for newbies and old man like me. The manual is a very basic. There's a lot of content and modes to play. It takes a lot of time to understand how it is build and much more play it at decent level.

Also, If you are a newbie like me, the worst thing you can do is buying Stubs and get diamond players. If you don't have the skills, you won't hit, period. No matter what. Even if you have plenty of 99 D players. I encourage newbies like me to buy the Standard Edition and live the process. Learn how to hit with 50-60 profile hitters. Learn how to pitch with 50-60 profile pitchers. Actually and the way I see it, acquiring diamond players will make you “lazy and worse hitter” since all of them have great contact and vision... and guess what? if you think you are going to face easier teams at Ranked Seasons, you are death wrong. Actually your rivals will be tougher since the matchmaker seeks teams with similar OVR like yours and the frustration will be even more bitter. Play at your own pace. Don't worry if you see teams built with plenty of high caliber attributes, players at gold+ levels or teams at 800+ rating in Ranked Seasons. Live your on pace, otherwise you will hate the game instead of enjoy it which would be a shame because it is really great.

Yes, it happened to me. Hi everyone, btw.

While I totally agree that it would be much more immersive to see a replay after an injury, and we see a turned ankle, the player grab his arm, maybe fall on his wrist diving for a ball... I'd settle for the pop-up if we had to Long-press the X to not miss it.

The fact that the screen can be bypassed by accident in the course of just pressing through to the next at-bat, really is annoying.

If they insist on the pop-up and that's it, make it a long-press so we have a chance to read it.

I know its been mentioned before, even by me, but the sound of the ball off the bat, especially when you hit it square....man...what a sweet, sweet sound.

Correct but it’s not the actual cutscene of the coach walking to the mound like the AI gets. Likewise, we don’t get the cutscene for getting guys up in the pen like the AI does. Just a niggling little something that’s been there forever, that’s all.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread

Experienced one of my most entertaining games out of the 300 or so I've played in this series going back several years.
As the Rockies, I trailed the Indians 6-2 in the bottom of the eighth when Tito tries to get tricky with a double switch. I shoved it up his rear with a pinch-hit 2-run HR from Owings and then Arrenado cracks his second 2-run HR of the game to tie it.
Fast forward to the 14th inning, Blackmon, who was 0 for 5, leads off and sends the second pitch off Wittgren into the right field seats for a walkoff and a 7-6 win and sweep of the series, damaging the Tribe's wild-card hopes.
This game is keeping me so entertained during this shelter-in-place period.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

Can someone explain to me exactly how the budget works. Am I paying all 90 players or just the 26 on the Mlb roster. I’m assuming just my 26 but what about the minors?

Thanks! So when I call up a guy my weekly budget doesn’t change, just he obviously uses an option if it hasn’t been used already and he will start accumulating service time for every day he’s up in the Majors. Am I missing anything else? Oh and RNW/Arb depends on how many years/days up in the majors too

Correct your weekly budget will not change.

And the player will only use an option year if you send him back down to the minors. If you keep him on the major league roster, he will not burn an option year.

Yes service time will begin the day that you call him to the majors and will accumulate one day for everyday that he's on the major league roster.

Yes RNW and Arb depends primarily on service time, with exceptions, but generally a player has 6 years of control once he's in the organization (3 renewable years and 3 arbitration years).
