Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

I'm in Year 4 of my Carry-Over franchise Year 2021. Indians have already traded Francisco Lindor in 2020 .

Looking at a deal for Mike Clevinger with 1.5 years of control at end of All-Star break. Which deal seems best for the Indians

The short answer is this trade is bad for the Blue Jays, and I can't really figure out why the Orioles need to be involved. KK cannot stay healthy and has a negative surplus value because of this.

In your scenario the Jays trade away Giles, a high end reliever at the deadline, and get negative value back. Giles is one of the Jays best assets and wouldn't get traded for another reliever who is almost a free agent and an injury prone CF.

Also the Orioles get back a good bit more value than they give up, roughly twice as much

Year 1 of my Mariners franchise... I'm dead set on getting a SS to replace Crawford.. I've settled on Paul De Jong for Crawford, Murphy and Guibeau (basically a throw in).. doesn't feel very realistic to me but I'm at the AS break and Molina is out for the year and I know that Molina always becomes a FA or retires after season 1 so Murphy would be their starter for three years and the cardinals are 25 GB in their division currently.. does anyone actually think a deal like this would work IRL with the above circumstances?

Dejong is a borderline All Star with 4 more years of a cheap deal (and 2 more of a decent deal). Your package is worth about half his value and if the Cardinals are competing next year (for the sake of the Murphy throw in) then Dejong would assuredly be apart of that. Either you need to make it a more prospect-laden deal (Logan Gilbert is a must) or you need to take back bad money

Crawford has turned into a MONSTER for me. I decided to give it a year to see how it played out. He hit 28 HR while hitting .280 year one, year 2 he hit 36 HR while driving in 109 and hitting .320, he is currently up to a 94 OVR. I moved him over to 3B after I signed Carlos Corea.

Yup. He has big time potential (Hence baseballtradevalues.com having him at around $34 mil). MLBTR did a breakout candidate story on him a while back as well. Something about his babip being unsustainably low, and a few other key points. You never really know, but he's a good guy to keep in an M's uniform with their rebuild anyway.

Appreciate the response.. have two questions... where can I go to see the trade value that you referenced?... in this game Crawford typically progresses pretty well and his counting stats are comparable.. with that in mind they are getting two immediate starters who they have control over for at least two years each.. I'm sure your right about more prospects being needed, Gilbert is an untouchable for me but do you think including George Kirby makes up for it?

Try Braden Bishop, or if you're in win now mode Noelvi Marte. Be careful if you think about trading Marte, he is another one who develops into a beast. He was an 86 ovr by year 4 for me. And he is only 18 yo to start...

And no, George Kirby isn't nearly the prospect Gilbert is. Having untouchables, and since you include Gilbert I assume that means Kelenic and Rodriguez are also untouchable, limits the guys you can trade for. When you won't move your 3 or more best prospects you don't get to trade for cost controlled talent.

Yeah Kelenic & Rodriguez are the reason I chose the Mariners, I'm trying to grow the team through the draft and be competitive for a wild card birth in year 3.. thanks for including the link, I started thinking about adding Haniger to the deal since the Mariners don't have much in the way of trade assets

Yeah you need to consider what you would take back in a trade for your cost controlled assets. And think about if you would take quantity over quality. And when you decide on that, and its likely a no, then you need to start increasing the value of your offers. If you want things to be realistic and fair you have to give what you get, not try to sneak one by the CPU

Question for the group on Ken Giles value. The trade value simulator has him very low like 1.6, I'm guessing because he is a rental, yet other Giles posts on here seem to value him higher. In my franchise I've narrowed down his suitors to ARZ and WAS but can't seem to come up with a fair value.
What do you guys think of the following 2 trades? I really want the trade to be as fair as possible for both sides. Any suggested tweeks?

ARZ gives up- Corbin Carroll (#89 prospect in the top 100)
                              or
Was gives up- Luis Garcia (#97) and Reid Schaller (#18 on WAS)
